This is the best movie duo ever. I just discovered them for the first time while watching TCM, and the movie MayTime.

I am happy to know that there was an offscreen love between them too. I think they were in each other's lives in off again on again love till they grew old. Perhaps in eternity they are together as they should be. This is romance.

I like the clip of Nelson blowing on Jeanette's neck, but not shown, just before he blows, he gets close to Jeanette's neck, like he wants to ravish her...LOL!

If they were not lovers, then they are the best acting performers of all time.

Read the book, then you will know how deeply in love they were. In the "Pretty as a Picture" clip, after he blows on her neck, when the camera zooms back, he is seated at the piano and she is standing, you will see Jeanette lean down and kiss him on the check.

I saw one of their films at a library and on impluse I picked it up Naughty Marietta. I've fallen in love with their voices and characters, I also wished that things could have turned out better for the couple. Nelson always had an expression of love shining in his eyes and a certain protectivness lol I thought sometimes.

I have just watched this lovely compilation of clips and will smile all night now. My , my mother was a fan and I got my addiction from her. I had such fun making this because before I started working with the individual clips, I had absolutely no idea how many times they actually kissed each other/held hands/embraced/etc. It tickled me pink.

It saddens me to read their story. When I first watched them in "Maytime" (the first movie I'd seen them in), I knew nothing about them, and I could've sworn they were married with four or five children, LOL. Such a pity.

One of Nelson`s most endearing trademarks was the tender way he kissed, held and caressed Jeanette`s hands in their films.

Yes, their story was sad but it is also a beautiful example of true love and the spiritual ties that bound them together through all eternity. Lorraine
