I have to comment here and perhaps someone can help me out. I've only recently have been trying to find out what is right with life. With all the crap that is going on in these current times we (humans) need something. I believe religion is not the answer. So here I've stumbled on Nihilism and this video. I really like this concepts the nihilism presents, however, this video has a twinge of anger to it. This doesn't seem right.
I believe in ghosts, and that there is likely something out there. I also believe that pragmatism and the greatest good for the greatest number and that realism is the true essence of reality. But can I be complimentary to nihilism if I also disdain ideology, religion, tradition and faith? Because I do...
I'm an odd Individual. I tend to try my best to actually be away from this. But at times, I'm caught myself in a Nihilist state realizing that the relevancy of society today is completely pointless. Nihilism itself isn't bad. But it can lead to an individual lacking any prosperity at all depending on how they view things. I mean, it could be that a True Nihilist refuses such label as others state. But I wonder if Anarchism, Nihilism and Misanthropic can go together...
i find personally what is recognized as "nihilism" serves as a good foundation to return to after exploring the others such as gnosticism, Taoism. nihilism serves as a stabilizing element for my mind, but i secretly reject and frown upon nihilism also, for if it is i tend to deny/reject/ignore it. maybe the true nihilist will reject nihilism as well.
@BRZRKRvsEARTH That's a fair stance towards Nihilism. I too dabble with other ideas and try to expand my views as much as I can. I question everything, even my own beliefs. A truly free man should be able to cope with changes and also must have the ability to criticize that what he believes in. Standing by your ideas and ideologies doesn't mean freedom, it is but another chain that life supplies you with. People chain themselves, they do not get chained by the system or by their fellow man.
How can you promote nihilism if you are a nihilist? You want people to join you in some conquest? Nihilism is not a "social movement" so please don't treat it as such.
@liverbitz91 No, I just want to spread the word. I find that every human being has not the right to representation in politics but rather a right to the truth (or at least the truth as I see it). I do not go out and spread flyers to actively convert people into Nihilism - it would be hypocritical, for I detest people who actively promote their beliefs on the streets. I will, however, never decline a debate when someone asks me about my beliefs and ideas.
@liverbitz91 (continuation) In other words, I'm not trying to convince people that Nihilism is the way to go, I am merely showing them that there is an alternative to what the system has to offer as it is right now. You cannot "make" someone a Nihilist - I believe that you are born as one.
@Stygian9 How the fuck can you believe nihilists are "born"? A real nihilist doesn't believe anything on principle. Of course it is entirely possible someone can reach the conclusion they're nihilist by thinking and studying themselves.
What a interesting video, I must agree with it on most point, but I have one thing that prevents from agreeing fully. It is a belief in life and the idea that we can change and grow. It matters not that i cannot change the world, but that I can create a place for me in it.

I agree with many of the statements in this video. Which is why I chose Jesus Christ. It may sound corny and as if I am following a 'religion' but its truly not a religion or a way of life. It's a way TO life, and the idea that we have true life now is nothing but a fast and dying illusion. All of the good in this world is just a distant memory of what this world once was or was meant to be.
Jesus Christ must have been telling the truth, if not, then we are doomed and life is not worth living.
The statements of this video are contradictory to Judeo-Christianity. I strongly suspect Nihilists would diagnose your ethic and idea-set as non-vital, self-immolation and cankerous. That being said, how could you agree with these statements?
It will all be destroyed one day. And only those who call Jesus Lord and savior will see a new life.
The Nihilist perspective is correct in diagnosing the problem, but does not offer a solution. Things are the way they are because sin entered the world. So you are correct in identifying that something is terribly wrong with this world.
The author of this video's comments goes out of his way to offer what they feel are solutions. Perhaps since the solutions are finite and improbable, that makes them not worth noting. For example, the way to escape the vacuity of contemporary values is to destroy and reorder contemporary society.
And what makes you thing destroying and then reordering society will provide an 'escape' from the 'vacuity of contemporary values'? Societies have been destroyed and reordered before and yet the cycle of history continues in the same senseless fashion.
Your right, the solution offered in this video are finite, but God, the ultimate solution, is infinite.

@cscott5288 Now come on that's a big load of shit. Let's get one thing straight- There is most likely no God and no intrinsic evidence existing to prove it- thus skepticism remains. If your God really existed everyone would know it and be forced to worship it. Read the old testament and tell me I'm wrong- it would be in our faces. The judeo-christian God is a large scale plagiarisation of pre-existing mediums of religion anyway, in case you are uneducated to such facts.
I think we should take Ideas out of IDEALS

Also, read the book of Ecclesiastes in which King Solomon deeply discusses the vanity of life.
