@TheXTazzy Well, indie rock implies they're without a label or on an independent one, so no, they're not indie rock. Some people will also tell you they're New Rave, but that's just because of their fanbase. Dance-Punk and alternative are the best ways to describe it. A bit of funk influence in other songs.

@deathstarcafe "Indie" does mean what you said it means but when people refer to "indie" music they take the words literal meaning away and its applied as a scene adjective like "Conservative" (right wing politics) sometimes gets its meaning taken away and is said "conservative" (not open to change). So yes these are indie rock if the context in which it was said was in reference to their scene and not their literal status.

@Rewnskeyp I agree, but I would not go as far as to say it would be their genre, which was implied by the asker, because their scene does not affect their music whereas their label (or lack thereof) does. Perhaps that's not what [s]he meant, but it's how interpreted it.

Also, I there is no formal definition, so I use it in the way I said because if we define it the way you said, people will call half the things they know indie rock. I do think indie (not "indie rock") is what you said, however.

@deathstarcafe It's Sunday night and I've knocked back a few Budweisers so apologies if I haven't grasped your reply. The scene adjective "Indie rock" refers typically to Fender Strats, Fender Teles and pretty much Fender everything mixed in with relatively skinny jeans basic power chord progressions and one note progressions. When the asker asked whether these are Indie rock I'm pretty sure they had no idea on the literal meaning and instead had in mind pretty much what I've just listed.

Go do some fucking research on bands I'm pretty sure my short generalisation of the scene of indie rock was pretty spot on. I'm obviously going to pigeon hole things because we have 500 characters to say what we think and I was just giving the short gist of most peoples perception of the indie rock scene.

Seeing this performed awesomely live in Preston and then afterwards stopping the whole gig chanting 'YORKSHIRE YORKSHIRE YORKSHIRE' with all the yorkshire boys at Uni there with me returning a barrage of Lancashire abuse!
