Just bought the 4mm heavy duty version with dust bag to replace my 20 year old Hitachi s20 and it is easily as good, i have always used Makita tools and never had any issues with them.
Used the hitachi practically every day and am amazed it has lasted so long, i am expecting similar from the Makita....it looks tough and well made and at £200 its a bargain..
We want a lith cordless planer and router for doors. Must be Makita for their excellent 18v batteries. Please pass this on to your makita rep. cheers.

Great machine, looks like they worked out the bugs from the older model (Adjustment knob sucked).
