personally i thought this movie was terrible, it was boring and the story was a pile of crap also dastan had a strange plus really bad British accent and i think that silent hill is a way better movie that used to be a game...

I would love to see a sequel. Empress of time or even better the Dahaka in the future.
this was an excellent movie, and it is not for 10 year olds. This movie is too complicated for a 10 year old to fully grasp. I think it was a well made movie with amazing actors/actresses.Also one of my all time favorite movies.
I hate that these guys think it was a GOOD idea to make the story plot thin and simple compared to the game. That was a stupid mistake (so was giving it to Disney), and it should have been more in-depth as the game was. I need to see this movie for myself to really understand what it's like. But personally I think these things should be left to the charm of the original videogame, unless the movie adaptation is actually decent.

@TheOmegasi I agree however, this movie is based on the Sands of Time Sega, in the first game The prince and Farah (who in the movie could be Tamena) fall in love, but due to a plot tiwst at the end (won't ruin the game if you haven't palyed it) none of this happens
They renamed Farah, because in the game, she was only young girl, guardian of the dagger, but movie.... Destroy story of the game was crazy, but this was one of best movie, what i know. Funny, short, but for me long, and at the same not boring.
@EvilDarkJackel I don't know... The plot didn't really resemble the game that much other than the dagger needing to be returned to the hourglass. There isn't really any immediate danger, only "Bad shit will happen.... later" but nothing happens lol. In the game they had to deal with the sand demons who only the princ ecould kill with the dagger (In the SOT). And the action scenes lasted 2 seconds and then the camera changes so it's all 'suggested' but barely ever seen lol.
The obvious plot resemblance is as follows; A king and his son(actually sonS in this case) attack a city, there is a traitor that causes the attack, there is a dagger that can turn back time kept within the city, the prince and his companion are haunted by the traitors henchmen... and that is all I can be bothered with, there is without a doubt more resemblances but... whatever...

I do film studies and I make films in my spare time so I see what works and what doesn't this didn't work for me: it was ujst generic actions sequences which didn't really have anything new to offer. I seriously loved this movie. I thought the performances were great, although I agree that the sexual chemistry between Dastan and Tamina was lacking. Still, the visual effects were great and the performances were great. I give it a 4 out of 5 because it was really well put together, the plot line was simple and the dialogue was really good. Aside from a few aspects that weren't mind blowing, I still LOVE this movie. (:
I thought the first 1/4 of Prince of Persia was bland. The remaining 3/4 was actually enjoyable to watch, to be honest. It wasn't a great movie, but it was worth watching. 3/5 seems appropriate.
The film was horrible. Best video game to movie adaptation? This is fucking terrible!!! The prince isn't funny nor is he completely serious so he's not the character from the game, the story is dull etc. I was expecting alot from the fighting and free running, but the fighting is just generic, predictable and plain boring. There were a couple of cool jumps and moves, but very scarce throughout the film. In one section, you see a line of obstacles and you are excited to see the prince do some awesome parkour, but then suddenly the camera just decides to jump away from the action to a shot which doesn't develop character, plot or humour. when itt returns to the prince, HE'S ALREADY RUN THE FUCKING THING OFFSCREEN! MOVIE STYLE 0/5, MOVIE ENTERTAINMENT 0/5 STARS. This is just as bad as Clash of the Titans.
The game's story would still make a better movie than this garbage. That's the huge problem with video game adaptations. There's a really great movie lying around in the sand here, but they just throw it away and make up stupid irrelevant shit that has nothing to do with anything.
I was actually shocked this was actually a good video game to movie adaptation my only complaint was that it at times felt more like Aladdin then Prince of Persia, and I wish he would've worn the outfit from Sands of TIme instead of the one from Warrior Within

I was wondering if I only liked it because I had never played the game, but now that I know people who have actually played the game like it, I like it even more now :D
Being a massive fan of the Prince of Persia game series, I had high expectations for this film, and to be totaly honest... It didn't meet the expectations... It fuckin' proceeded far past them. It's a brilliant film that appeals to both the younger audience and the older audience.
This just goes to show that you don't need blood, guts and sex to make an awesome action film.

I must confess it would have been a bad movie if it was made after the game.

My raiting would be 4/5. The big reason I say that is the opening and Dastan's origin reminded me more of Disney's Aladdin then Prince of Persia in fact I was waiting for the Genie to pop up until the assault on the city. Minor complaint is that he wore the outfits from Warrior Within and Two Thrones but he never wore the blue outfit from Sands of Time. The film in my opinion was loyal to the game in terms of action scenes but the story could've used some work

Dastan in Persian means "hero". Dastan also references Rostam Dastan and Tamina references Tahmina from Shahnameh, or Book of Kings. The Shahnameh was was what the tales of the Prince of Persia games are based on, along with this film. Also look at the movie as another "retelling" of the story. Now get over it

Many huns had red hair,in afganistan, iran and parts of india there is a large amount of people who have green or blue eyes where do you think they got then from.These lands where a mass of muticulturalism until a few centuries A.D when the arab muslims drove them of.
Just hearing Gyllenhaal's horrific fake accent in a preview turned me off of this one. I might go see it when it gets into the $2 theatre. I think he was a poor casting decision. It's extremely important to find somebody that can pull off the accent of the character, or it's not believable that you're really seeing him.

This film seriously one of my favourite films so far of this year, its fun, good characters, action was good but there was some problems with the story and character devlopment. I think the story wasn't well built it did have some flaws but still if your a fan you wont complain, and the character development wasn't great but then again most video game film adaptions are not, but it seemed very fun and people will like it if they dont go in depth with the films bugs, they should make a sequel!

@animejoao I think spike lee made summer of Sam(which was weird and freaky). And the Hughes brothers made from hell. I haven't seen this movie yet but from what I'm hearing it's the best game to movie adaptation to date. (Btw how is it that ppl gripe about jg being dastan and no one says anything about the Moses or Jesus movies played by white guys? Just wondering mate.)

@00half actually the prince in the first and third games looked pretty persian, only the prince in the warrior within and the new one looked white. when i mention the one in the third game, i mean during the cutscenes with the better graphics(can't remember what they're called for some reason)

STFU u all complaining about persians being white or not. Persians are not pure caucasian, neither black. More like a lil mix between caucasians and egypts colors (a little darker, but not black yet) with skin tone hardened by the environment (sun/desert). Alfred Molina characters got it closer, while Jake was ok and Princess was maybe too taned (but shes hot so no ones give a fuck).
This was a great movie, I had more fun watching this than Iron Man 2. Reminded me of Assassins Creed a bit. Jake Gyllenhall did great. If those who dont know, Persian(Iranians) are from the Aria race which is WHITE...and not only that, there are no persian actors that can play a role like this anyways. These two douche bags gave it 3.5 which is BS. This is probably the best movie so far this year besides Book Of Eli. Good acting, great visual effects and awesome action.
@animejoao The actors have to look Perisan, not necessarily be persian and since persians aren't very different, Jake Gyllenhaal is half-Jewish and the cast was very likable, it wasn't a problem. Neither persian actors, neither persia accents would have made the movie better, if anything it would have just made the movie worse. It's like watching the English version of Beauty and the Beast with french accents. Who the fuck wants that. It would be annoying as hell.

It's a good movie. Typical summer action packed blockbuster with an appropriate level of humor and romance. It was FUN. Reminded me of the Scorpion King a lot. If I were a critic I'd give it an 8 out of 10. I'm gonna go see it again.
I loved the movie.. I just glad it wasn't an epic fail like all the others before....I had a really great time with this movie...I'm hoping to see the sand zombies inthe next one hopefully they won't mess that up. In the games, the prince went from happy hero to brooding hero as the game progressed. It could give the movie more depth.

I seriously loved this movie. I thought the performances were great, although I agree that the sexual chemistry between Dastan and Tamina was lacking. Still, the visual effects were great and the performances were great. I give it a 4 out of 5 because it was really well put together, the plot line was simple and the dialogue was really good. Aside from a few aspects that weren't mind blowing, I still LOVE this movie. (:

I thought the first 1/4 of Prince of Persia was bland. The remaining 3/4 was actually enjoyable to watch, to be honest. It wasn't a great movie, but it was worth watching. 3/5 seems appropriate.

There were a couple of cool jumps and moves, but very scarce throughout the film. In one section, you see a line of obstacles and you are excited to see the prince do some awesome parkour, but then suddenly the camera just decides to jump away from the action to a shot which doesn't develop character, plot or humour. when itt returns to the prince, HE'S ALREADY RUN THE FUCKING THING OFFSCREEN! MOVIE STYLE 0/5, MOVIE ENTERTAINMENT 0/5 STARS. This is just as bad as Clash of the Titans.

I was actually shocked this was actually a good video game to movie adaptation my only complaint was that it at times felt more like Aladdin then Prince of Persia, and I wish he would've worn the outfit from Sands of TIme instead of the one from Warrior Within

Being a massive fan of the Prince of Persia game series, I had high expectations for this film, and to be totaly honest... It didn't meet the expectations... It fuckin' proceeded far past them. It's a brilliant film that appeals to both the younger audience and the older audience.
This just goes to show that you don't need blood, guts and sex to make an awesome action film.

3 out of 5??? This is probably the most overrated movie I have ever seen (except avatar of course). This movie SUCKED! I cried when I heard Disney was gonna make a movie of Prince of Persia. They take this hardcore action-parkour-badass-GOD... And turn him into this tree-hugger-P***y. They give him a name for Crist's sake. totally ruins his mysterious character. And then they put in Tamina, just to spice it up with some british accent. Get the F**K out of here you don't know sh*t about the game.

@zxFighter Well the movie was not a direct copy of the game, it was merely based on it, taking content from not only "The Sand of Time" but also from "Warrior Within" and "The Two Thrones".
I must confess it would have been a bad movie if it was made after the game.
All in all, I think this was a very good movie, even through I (like you) would rather have seen a movie following the plot of the game.

Ever heard of the Inheritance cycle? A book serius about the boy named Eragon, well I liked those books, then 20th century fox had a movie made out of it, which litterally sucked massive cow balls.
Movies have become money makers instead of the art it used to be (with a few exceptions of course).

My raiting would be 4/5. The big reason I say that is the opening and Dastan's origin reminded me more of Disney's Aladdin then Prince of Persia in fact I was waiting for the Genie to pop up until the assault on the city. Minor complaint is that he wore the outfits from Warrior Within and Two Thrones but he never wore the blue outfit from Sands of Time. The film in my opinion was loyal to the game in terms of action scenes but the story could've used some work

Okay, here come clearin' up da faks. The movie, in my opinion, was pretty good. So they don't get all the facts straight of the original game....cool story bro, got time to tell it again? Dastan in Persian means "hero". Dastan also references Rostam Dastan and Tamina references Tahmina from Shahnameh, or Book of Kings. The Shahnameh was was what the tales of the Prince of Persia games are based on, along with this film. Also look at the movie as another "retelling" of the story. Now get over it

@R4Zy3L it didnt fail horribly. they dont try to make it "exactly" like the game, they make it so all audiences can enjoy it not just the game fans. but they did a hella better job than hitman, street fighter, mortal kombat, tekken, silent hill, doom, max payne and so on...
for me i was just expecting a better quality dialogue, and better actions and parkour like in david belle's movies (as he was even the stunt director here)
but overall its a great movie

Just hearing Gyllenhaal's horrific fake accent in a preview turned me off of this one. I might go see it when it gets into the $2 theatre. I think he was a poor casting decision. It's extremely important to find somebody that can pull off the accent of the character, or it's not believable that you're really seeing him.

This film seriously one of my favourite films so far of this year, its fun, good characters, action was good but there was some problems with the story and character devlopment. I think the story wasn't well built it did have some flaws but still if your a fan you wont complain, and the character development wasn't great but then again most video game film adaptions are not, but it seemed very fun and people will like it if they dont go in depth with the films bugs, they should make a sequel!

I haven't seen this movie yet but from what I'm hearing it's the best game to movie adaptation to date. it seems like the only argument going around is that the prince is white haha i guess that's good. i was expecting a lot of complaints about the story being different. personally, i give it about a 4. It would get a 5 from me if they had included more powers the dagger has such as the eye of the storm. also, a scene after the credits would have been nice and very easy to put in. they could have put the dahaka coming from the hourglass screaming "natsad!" :) anyone agree? great movie though!

More like a lil mix between caucasians and egypts colors (a little darker, but not black yet) with skin tone hardened by the environment (sun/desert). Alfred Molina characters got it closer, while Jake was ok and Princess was maybe too taned (but shes hot so no ones give a fuck).

This was a great movie, I had more fun watching this than Iron Man 2. Reminded me of Assassins Creed a bit. Jake Gyllenhall did great. If those who dont know, Persian(Iranians) are from the Aria race which is WHITE...and not only that, there are no persian actors that can play a role like this anyways. These two douche bags gave it 3.5 which is BS. This is probably the best movie so far this year besides Book Of Eli. Good acting, great visual effects and awesome action.

@animejoao The actors have to look Perisan, not necessarily be persian and since persians aren't very different, Jake Gyllenhaal is half-Jewish and the cast was very likable, it wasn't a problem. Neither persian actors, neither persia accents would have made the movie better, if anything it would have just made the movie worse. It's like watching the English version of Beauty and the Beast with french accents. Who the fuck wants that. It would be annoying as hell.

It's a good movie. Typical summer action packed blockbuster with an appropriate level of humor and romance. It was FUN. Reminded me of the Scorpion King a lot. If I were a critic I'd give it an 8 out of 10. I'm gonna go see it again.

I loved the movie.. I just glad it wasn't an epic fail like all the others before....I had a really great time with this movie...I'm hoping to see the sand zombies inthe next one hopefully they won't mess that up. In the games, the prince went from happy hero to brooding hero as the game progressed. It could give the movie more depth.
