  • for whom the bell tolls?

  • Wow. Lol "Awww sh*t!" and then the other guy "yeah yeah yeah yeah" and church bells! That woulda been scary!

  • its like OMG its a tornado i would faint thats my m8 told me when we were in texas a tornado struck a hotel & we were sprinting to cover. we managed to get to the shelter and i fell to the floor i woke up the next 2 or 3 hours and hes said oi you fainted when we were running from our hotel well after got here lol. im 37 now so i was about 24 and im suprised i can still remember lol

  • scary shit, wow! but still Chicago is the best place in the world! EVER!!! =)

  • in Ohio where i live on September 17,2010 lots of EF0S and EF1S where touching down in areas of Ohio but mostly Athens.

  • at the beginning it looks like there is an invading alien mothership

  • still god was there. There was a statue of ggod or something and is that thing there? well if its still there its luck! of god

  • OMG, the bells would be going off!

  • There is an old superstition about ringing churchbells to keep storms away. Maybe they were having a little faith...or signaling students to start praying!

  • i believe its called a cyclone thats why there no warnings but church care so happy :D

  • We had an EF4 tornado here in my area of Toledo, Ohio about a month ago. Milbury, Ohio looks like a war zone...it's very sad. This is a great video. Hugs from Toledo, Ohio!!!

  • if it was in the lake its called a water sprout not tornado...

  • i was there :D

  • aaaaaahhhhh

  • yeah i was at loyola when this happened! i was in the dorm building that faced the lake and it was funny how the sirens went off about 10 minutes after the tornado was gone!

  • yep,no sirens, you can "thank" mayor daley for that one,the cheap sonofabitch.

  • flabby boob

  • and ppl think we cant get tornados in chicago...e

  • lol no sirens but church bells

  • OMFG that is just crazy.

  • its called a waterspout. but awesome video and awesome how that church bell was ringing

  • I live right by Loyoa and I saw the tornado pass close to my house. It was scary.

  • The sirens didnt go off but the church bells did...wait a new warning signal!!!

  • I absolutly loved how yo filmed it because you showed exactly what would happen in a normal mans world and you even got the nice outer edge of the supercell. 5/5

  • Remarkable you caught this from a relatively close location and were safe. Good thing you all took cover when you did.

Yes, it does show that tornadoes can develop just about anywhere. Why the warning sirens didn't go off is a good question.

  • blakeandcrap, waterspouts can develop over any body of water no matter the depth. What makes it happen is the wind aloft and not the actual temp of the water. I think your confusing your source with how hurricanes develop. Tornadoes develop when the wind sheer and lift is just right. Alot of elements have to be just right for one to happen which is still a mystery. Great video again guys. A large funnel making the waterspout. Impressive.

  • no mr Brain, if that was the case we should get a waterspout every year, which we will and have not.

  • EARTHQUAKE!!!!

  • One thing that i don't get is, Illinois is miles and miles of farmland, expect Chicago, it's all really confusing

  • hey I live in chicago

  • wow, it doesn't matter where you lived.

    anything could happen.

in california they have freakin earthquakes.

yeah and i agree its to hot to live near those states, idk about you guys but i love the change of seasons, and in those states it mostly just hot.

  • no at night iz cold and in day u get to go swimming and go to water parks and stuff so it better than u think if u acctully lived there ur whole life u would understand .....

  • Run people run!

  • HOLY SHIT DUDE!!!!!

  • Well,we are the windy city..

  • I remember that the tornado didn't actually touch ground, but it came PRETTY close. We would have been in deep shit if it did.

  • I remember that like it was the day after tomorrow...I was walking my 2 month old puppy, and the sky turned dark all of a sudden. The wind started picking up, so I picked him up and ran back into the house. I hid in the bathtub crying for my mom. The winds took the roof away, and my puppy flew away out of my arms. As I was grabbing for him, a large piece of glass cut 1 of his front legs off, and he was flung miles away. I really miss him.

Why did you have to take my puppy away from me God?

  • omg that happened to me too!! why did god have to take mr wiggles away?

  • wow.

  • urg now im gonna have nightmares.... waaaah im srry about that after i read this i started crying and i prayed for ur puppy... X:::::::::(]

  • Well true

  • Oh wow! chicago had a tornado? i always thought chicago was the best place to live weather wise, well except in the winter lol.

  • Yeah, it actually really is, but since it is in the midwest, we do have tornados. But no hurricanes, no floods, no earthquakes.

  • no arizona iz the best place 2 live

  • what are you talking about its 119 degrees here.

  • were ? and arizona doesnt have alot of storms

  • How hot the weather is depends on where in AZ or CA you are. The DESERTS are hot, with low humidity and easier to take then a humid Chicago day. As for storms AZ and parts of CA get monsoons in the summer. AZ especially. We got almost an inch of rain from one storm, alot for us (in CA). Tornados are VERY rare here.

  • tornadoes r rare in az too

  • Think agian, there at least a tornado once a year

  • LOL @ the Madonna bell! Always on time, even in a tornado ;-)

  • actualy that is a water spout but for anyone who dosnt no its a tornado on water

  • why u guys takeing cover every time we sirns down in kankakee i stand out side till the stop

  • Nice to see you guys took adequate and immediate shelter. lol The church bells in the background made the video awesomely spooky! Good video dudes!

  • where are yall

  • wasn't nothing to see stop moving the camera

  • wouldnt that just be a water spout??

  • water spouts can only occur in a deep water are and the water has to be hot temp. i live in chicago, and let me tell you. THAT WATERS FUCKING COLD

  • godzilla74114 gives a good point. If a tornado did hit the place you're in, you'd be in deep shit.

  • I didnt see shit

  • oh man COOOOOL Chicago had its first tornado sweet even though its scary man and a lot of poeple said it wasnt a tornado

  • brilliant planning on the video takers part, glass plus tornado = mass chaos if the shit hits.

  • The cloud at the very begining looked BAD ASS!!!

  • I love the atmosphere, shade of the sky, everything...

  • Agreed. It's so...Ominous, no?

  • glass and being in a huge room with a wide span roof. One of the worst places to be during a tornado.

  • yeah they may as well taken cover in their car. another good place to be durin a tornada

  • actually, a car is one of the worst places to be during a tornado because the tornado could pick the car up, throw it and kill the person inside

  • yeah i know. i was just being sarcastic

  • doooooooo yooooouuuuu think yooooouuuuu should... I don't know... TAKE COVER! I would be as scared as heck! Especially that it's about ≤ a mile away?!

  • That statue stands out...

  • the video have a sounds of bells

  • The bells sounded because i would imagine the winds would be high enough to make them hit each other..

  • Your here bells because it happened right next to the church on campus and it was at 5pm and thats the song they play every hour.

  • No, there is a church at the beach front of Loyola University. If you hear closely, the chime is in order and rings in a pattern.

  • SWEET

  • COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!! :) :) :) :)

  • tornadoes go on that big bodies of water?

  • Yes this is In Chicago at Loyola University on the north side. This happened on Sept 22 2006

  • interesting, I live in chicago and I never heard of anythign like that, The sirens must've been broken.

  • For me its even worse... I feel dumb as hell, I go to Loyola and I DIDNT HAVE IDEA!!!

  • at Chicago?

  • Holy wow

  • That's intense.
