1.45 per L? We still use the stupid American measurement system. We pay $3-4/gallon or about 1.20-1.50 per L depending on the state taxes. The *BIG* problem with autos in AUS is that my 2006 Subaru Lgt w/ 250hp cost me (including tax, license and fees!) less than $28,000 USD... Same care is over 40k in AUS!

Also consider that California has more people than Australia... Realistically, what we do with our emissions as a state is one of the most important environmental issues in the USA right now. CA is making tighter regulations and USA/feds are saying CA does not have the right. Funny no?
