From the date on this it's certain that you couldn't afford a pumpkin last year till the shops marked them way down after the parties were in full swing on the 30th.
And yesterday on Twitter you said that little microwave quit on you, and it was brand new in this video last year.
And you've put this in your Feature player because the new job is buried you in bureaucratic paperwork and you've hardly time to make even a Twitter tweet these days.
I just thought it was topical. It's only a very few days since I posted a video and I am still tweeting a lot! I am sure circumstances will improve at some point.
Thanks. I am going to have to make it in to pie and soup soon as it's already going a bit off! I will have to wake up extra early tomorrow to do something (busy week ahead).
Hope you don't take this the wrong way, but with the way you were wielding that knife I kept thinking you were going to cut your finger. Not to say that I think you're accident prone or anything, but umm, the way you swing a knife around had me worried. :)
Nice pumpkin though, way better than the one I did, lol.
Some Nutters tripped over the BRIGHT ORANGE PUMPKIN WITH SEVERAL TEALIGHTS INSIDE WITH CUT GRIMACING FACE and they failed to notice it and trod on it. A travesty, eh?
That is the acceptable size for making soup and pie from I've heard; weather it's the right breed only you or the produce manager knows.
The spot that's not orange is only because it wasn't on a patch of hay and it rebelled at that spot from being upon bare ground and not being gently turned for equilateral sunlight.
The brains are discarded, although the seeds can be lightly broiled in a light butter/oil and sprinkled with spice. They are tasty, but if not done correctly are like wood-- I ruined some in a microwave once.
The edible part of the pumpkin is seen as the white of mouth here at the bottom. Scrape that out or cube the thing up and cut the good away. Puree it up and do as you will for pie, soup, or add to bread or muffin mix for delightfully moist baked fare.
I would cut some of the upward bevel out of that bottom of the mouth so's to show more light from the candle. But then again sometimes that white shows up nicely if a votive candle shines mightily from a carved out hole in there.
Splendid work for a last minute job - Happy Halloween to you too.
My seasonal lantern carving enthusiasm dates back to days when bonsai versions from swedes were the only option - 'twas long painstaking work getting the "brain" out of those without total vegetable destruction.
Super-speed! I can't believe how fast you cut off the top. Well done.
Your pumpkin looks much nicer than the one in my favourite old horror movie, "Pumpkinhead." "Stay away from Pumpkinhead, unless you're tired of living. His enemies are mostly dead; he's cold and unforgiving." There's a 1p prize if you know who said it. :-)
Ummmm,my mom makes pumpkin soup from scratch with the real deal gourd(squash?). Great with pepper, curry, and cinninmon. And I soak up tortilla chips in mine.
Glad you didn't slice yourself here.
You're purple I hope you know?
The last pumpkin lanturn I made was all the rage and got stolen. It had nails sticking out all over it like the Pinhead dude from Hellraiser.
I'd fear the alkie bums that urinate your doorway might come trick-or-treating if you display that jack-o-lanturn!
Unplanned pumpkin carving is always the best. It's what gives them a unique face and personality.

Did you roast the seeds? They make a nice snack...
fehquig 3 years ago
Yes I did, and they were lovely. Though I left it a bit longer than I should have and had to throw away a few mouldy ones.

Glad you didn't cut your thumb off although it would have been a perfect Halloween scene!

Was that an Elise's vlog type video or a vegetable video?
I guess not a vegetable video, because:
a) A pumpkin's a fruit (I think)
b) There was no Bach in the background...
Hope you had a good day, and got lots of sweets. ;-)
acallaway1957 3 years ago
It was a sort of hybrid!
Eliseharris 3 years ago
You mean, you had a reasonable day with a few sweets...
Did you video what you did with the pumpkin afterwards, a la PricessDiana161?
acallaway1957 3 years ago
I haven't yet. I am planning soup and/or pie! Or maybe some roasted pumpkin. Will certainly roast/toast the seeds anyway.
Eliseharris 3 years ago
Mmmm. Nom nom nom.
How about I pop around and help you eat it... Oh, I just remembered; I'm ten thousand miles away.
Ah, well. It seemed like a good idea...

If I'm not mistaken, I think near the end she touched her hair whilst they be pumpkin brain residue still upon her hand.
Now that's my kind of woman!

One can create soup from the much-loathed and oft discarded pumpkin brain.
PercyBeanProductions 3 years ago
I fully intend to eat as much as possible of it.

Where did you get your pumpkin from?
PercyBeanProductions 3 years ago
I got it from Lidl.
