  • He sings it great here!

  • My old VHS video of that show does not appears as clear as this one ! Thank you ikhnaton : P.Gabriel ressemble, par ses déguisements, a un Roi pharaon(avant 1975).

  • Peter Gabriel can go f' himself.

  • @PhilistineTheArtLuvr and why might that be? Give me a good reason.

  • @remnrone Because he refuses to do a reunion with Genesis and by doing so belittling the value and the legacy of such grandiose music. Truly a shame.

  • @PhilistineTheArtLuvr i guess he's just being progressive. he has had his period with genesis, and now he's moved on, so to say, and nobody should blame him for that. Believe me, i would like a reunion as much as anybody. I think also his pipes would struggle under the weight of the mighty vocals on for example As Sure As Eggs is Eggs, Back in NYC and In the Cage. Let's just love what he did for genesis until an eventual reunion.

  • oh my...listen gabriel singing !he sings with all his soul !

  • nice to see some new old footage!

  • Magnifique,s.v.p. j'en veux plus :)

  • i was there in munic yesterday. the groop is fantastic but the sound wasn`t very good. one third of the hall was empty. hope to see them again in frankfurt and next year with the new show.

  • Good evening TayMan,

How accurate is your info re:TMB going into post-Gabriel era?

I`ve seen them four or five times now, and have been blown away. However, once the drummer did "More Fool Me", I realized what a job they could do on later work.

    Sure is interesting to hear!...

  • It is true actually now, TMB have just confirmed a Trick of the Tail for 2008, there is already European dates!!

  • Yes, the drummer is a Phil Collins clone! He has his own band called Dance on a Volcano which recreates the 1982 Three Sides Live Show and he also has a band called Dance Into The Light which pays tribute to Phil Collins! Check out my channel to see him in action!

  • Why is this called the Black Show? (Is it the obvious fact that the stage is dark and looks black overall?)

  • Cause the Foxtrot setup was completely white usually. Stage background, instruments... everything. Later they used a different setup with all things in black. The black shows were optical even more intense and scary.

  • The Foxtrot setup were white, but so was the Selling England one for several months on the European tour. They only performed the Seling England black show in the US and Canada winter/spring 1974. What I'm trying to say is that the white *Selling* show was the predecessor of what we see above.

  • Sure, I was wrong, it was black Selling. Foxtrot has always been white. TMB will do some black Selling shows this autumn. Really looking forward to it. The last time with Dennis.

  • Where did you read this will be the last tour with Denis?

  • There was an article about Denis Gagne where he says that since their Lamb license has expired they will either return to the Selling England show or call it quits, and this was a year ago. I read an interview with the drummer Martin Levac and he said that they do plan to continue the act after Gagne's departure into the later year tours (Seconds Out,Trick of the Tail) and he said that it is already underway. Martin Levac will eventually take the lead role to impersonate the Collins years!

  • ok dumb question but what do you mean by black and white shows??

  • Yes

  • Surely you aren't referring to the color of Peter's costume are you?

  • No, when we say the Black or White show, it is the the way Genesis set their stage up. One way was with the big white hour glass shape figures, and almost everything on stage was white. The other was with black curtains and almost everything on stage was black, the two different set ups created two totally differnent atmospheres. Although the Musical Box only did a few shows with the Black setup, as you can see in this video, most of the tour was played with the White setup.

  • Doesn't Gabriel wear a different outfit during the black show though? It seems like his outfit is really white here where as it looks more grey or maybe black in other shows. Also it looks like he put some extra paint or something on his face for the black show. I saw The Musical Box do the regular show but they did the black show the following night at the same theatre and I missed it. I hear it is a much different show and different atmosphere like you said - cool how Genesis could do that.

  • Yes, he wears the black jumpsuit for both shows, the white jacket/pants he is wearing here is just for the end of Suppers Ready, which he always has done, but for the rest of the show, he wears the black outfit. And he doesn't have on extra paint, he just has more hair shaved off his head, which is revealing more of it, so he covers it with more of the makeup. The Black show is indeed a different atmosphere but I enjoy the white show more! Cheers!

  • There are always eternal discussion about Peter, Steve, Phil ... simply, Genesis is 70/74 ... after that is a gradual fading out, till nothingness like the 2007 reunion (what ???) tour.

  • yeah... PETER GABRIEL'S ERA...

But I would exrend it to 1976. Trick of the Tail and Wind and Wuthering had their moments...
