I remember Matthew Morrison (Mr. Shue) said when he went to get a pic with the president, the president said he wasn't getting a pic with him and Matthew just responed, "I totally understand."
@1976jtd OMG, you have GOT to see "The Producers" There are 2 one from 1968 with Mel Brooks (better) and one from the Broadway Play which is more recent.
@elfishimp Mel Brooks never starred in the original film. He wrote and directed it, and produced the 2005 version, as well as writing every single song and adapting the book. he was involved in both films but did not star in either.
@elfishimp The 1968 one was written, directed, and produced by Brooks, then the stage musical was based on the 1968 film with a few changes for the screen-to-stage adaptation, then the 2005 film is based on the stage musical :)
seen this video multiple formats, this particular one several times at least, and never noticed until now that one of the backup dancer/singers for "Men inTights" is a woman wearing a (cheesy?) moustache. Hilarious and just perfect for Brooks.
@QueenoDisney Yes , if you get to see any of the documentaries of The Producers that aired on PBS you will notice that Mel attends all the rehearsals and yes he mouths the lines along with the actors. He is the only one i know of that writes the story, and and music & songs entirely in many of his productions, He is truely a master of his craft. I became a Mel Brooks fan when i started watching a tv show that aired many years ago "Get Smart" starring Don Adams. Mel wrote that tv series.
Mel Brooks your a legend and a great man and the best comedian ever no one can do what you can do Blazing saddles, History of the World part 1, and Spaceballs
At the risk of sounding like an absolute whoos this is just beautiful... Seeing his reaction during till him even got me a bit emotional. A true living legend and a master of his craft
Its so touching to see Mr. Brooks get so emotional during "Til Him". This man is a living legend, and those are so few these days. When he finally goes, I will truly be sad and weep. But I will not weep tears of sadness only, but tears of joy at the legacy he leaves behind, a legacy of making smile and be filled with joy.
I have loved Mel Brooks since I was five years old, when my sister introduced me to the movie Dracula: Dead and Loving it. I'm so happy they honored him in this way. He truly is a legend.
Obama loves it!
