  • im into gaming and voicing, is it worth its money? and how much space would you estimate for it to fit, also how is sound cancelation (i have a very loud fan on alot of the time when im recording?)

  • I'm gonna need you to do your best Michael Caine before i decide to pick it up.

  • @bradtwo lol, not a lot of people know that ;)

  • Dave,

I just bought a Blue Yeti. I am hoping it will be clean enough to record my C6 Yamaha grand piano with precision. Up until now, I have made demo mp3 tunes for my students, but the poor quality mike on my laptop does not record sustained notes for playback--sounds like I didn't pedal at all. I think I need to use the omni directional setting, correct? Thanks! Nice review by the way. Maggie

  • @maggieskindercorner Omni-Directional is more for conference calls and orchestras where you need to pick up sound from multiple directions. I would try the stereo setting first. Check this link for details bluemic.com/yeti/#/settings/

  • It's not big your a dwarf

  • NIce review Dave.

  • @LaMansionDelIngles Many thanks.

  • would this be a good choice for game commentary?

  • @tongdude1 I wouldn't recommend it if there's alot of sound in your house. Also, if you game in big room it's also not so good. Then again it is affordable. However, I would recommend a noise cancelling microphone. The Audio-Technica AT2020 USB is highly recommended or the AKG 220

  • how much was it

  • my brother is gonna buy one for my birthday and im gonna sing on my birthday xD

  • For commentary of any kind, what would you prefer/recomend? The Blue Yeti, or the AT 2020?

i myself think the Blue Yeti IS a little better quality than the AT 2020, but i think i prefer the AT 2020 anyway, mainly because of the looks and it's size.. the Yeti is quite literally a Yeti..

  • @BigTopHats Hahaha same here man. I have a yeti as well. Quality is good but just wish it looked a bit..different.

  • @iAmRyet I've actually now also bought the yeti, it isn't as big as i expected though, not too much bigger than my old setup, but the looks are not that good in my opinion :P

  • Uploaded a video rapping with this mic. For those of you wondering if it's good for rapping. Check it out.

  • Would you recommend the Blue Yeti for podcasting? Thanks.

  • @1mysteryman Totally, either this or the Audio Technica AT2020 USB.

  • @davomrmac Thanks! What software did you use to create the opening title sequence in your video?

  • @1mysteryman Adobe After Effects.

  • Excellent video! What software do you use to create the opening title sequence? Also, what microphone did you use for this video? It didn't sound as good as when you tested the Blue Yeti via GarageBand. Thanks.

  • Very nice! Im buying the Yeti Pro soon :)

  • I bought this microphone from staples today, Jan 11th 2012 and I'm in Canada , bought from staples using a tiger direct price match ... It's really food and fun to use although it is pretty massive

  • What is his price?

  • £81 on amazon now

  • Does anyone know why some blue yeti's no longer have the THX logo?

  • @iAmRyet Here's the official explanation:

The THX microphone certification program helped establish the audio input performance standard for which the best-selling Yeti microphone family is known. However, the microphone certification program will be discontinued over the coming months as THX will be focusing on its core home theater program (TVs, speakers, etc). Regardless of the discontinuation of this category,

  • @duvalogist904 Yeti and Yeti Pro will continue to be manufactured to the same specification and standards.

  • I have a slightly noisy computer from the fans. Will this mic reduce or cancel out the sound of the fans?

  • @sMaShEdToMaToS depending on where the computer is in terms of your microphone there should be a setting to do so yes!

  • how did you do the garageband trick ?

  • Found it for £81 on amazon ;D Definitely getting this mate :D

  • I doubt that you can use Pro Tools 8 for audio editing with this mic right?

  • @OfficialDVBeats u can use any multi track program

  • What does it actually run off? I know it's a stupid question but, seriously? :')

  • skype sent me here

  • i just got this microphone 2day its amazing!

  • does its stand can be remove? in order to put the yeti mic into a higher stand?

  • Sweet I can't wait for mine!

  • @stonedlabradour12 Same here!!

  • @stonedlabradour12 neither can i!

  • How many times are you gonna say its massive??????

  • Good Review. It seems like a great mic and a damn good price too. Perfect for msn, skype and stuff. The thing is, I play and I really enjoy playing acustic guitar and singing. How will it perform there. I also have a small studio (actually, it's a room with all my instruments in it). Sometimes some of my friends and I like to go there and record some stuff. How would it perform recording a guitar, a bass and a drum set directly into it?

    thanks in advance :)

  • Hi.. Well i do fandubs and i want to know 2 things: is this thing going to provide me a better quality (i kinda already know the answer but still...), second, do i need any kind of filter?

    Thanks in advance, regards.

  • is it my browser or is the sound cutting slightly or crackling from time to time? Not to flame but I mean with 140 dollars price tag I would be pretty pissed to have that happen

  • Where we can buy this? Can we buy this on mall?

  • Would you suggest this over the audioTechnica [AT2020]?

  • @Tman4561 They are both about the same. Go with what is in your budget.

  • @davomrmac Hi Dave I have just purchased this microphone and your review has helped me :) Quick question do you edit audio to make the sound sound a little warmer?

  • @mattsaundersmcp not normally, just straight the way the mic produces it.

  • @davomrmac what about the mic on the astro a40 headset vs the blue snowball vs this one? what would be the comparison?

  • @RockOn1m1 This would win.

  • @davomrmac Perfect, thank you very much and thumbs up to the vid!

  • And yeah I like this intro better than the one sponsoring Mr.ThaiBox123

  • Hey Dave Great video <3 I love your accent ^_^ I'm just a normal YouTuber with 200K+ views and I'm really leaning towards getting this mic. I just wanted to ask you, should I get a pop filter with it and if, which one? :) Thanks :)

  • @ivs511 A filter always helps. I like the RoxDon pop filters.

  • @davomrmac Thanks for the reply :) Sorry, if I'm bugging you but which one should I get? The Yeti stands 1 feet high and most of the roxdon filters on amazon say they're 6 inches high :-/ Please recommend me a pop filter under $15 for the Yeti Pro :) Thanks again!

  • @ivs511 Well the pop filter only needs to cover the top portion of the mic. Even a cheap one from ebay would do the job. I use a RoxDon on my high end mic and a cheap ebay one (£4) on my Yeti Pro. The top portion (capsule) of the mic is a lot smaller, so a 4 or 6 inch pop filter would be fine.

  • i have the fender mustang i amp that has usb can i plug it into there?

  • @dayone54 Really not sure, I would think not, but maybe check with Fender before you spend your money.

  • hi, does it have to be hooked up to ur computer? my music room is not in same room as my comp. cant i plug it into my amp while i play guitar and sing? will it work?

    thanks,

    debi

  • @dayone54 It has to plug in via USB to work.

  • Damn! Did it again! *compared to your new intro.

  • @TIRanald Thanks for your feedback.

  • Sorry, pressed enter too early! Great review Dave. Just a quick note, I think I prefer this old intro compared to your p

  • Great

  • Very through and well done sir!

  • like if this mic looks like R2D2

  • @davomrmac Thank you for replying. I have a Sony Alpha SLT A55. It's the one that looks like an SLR but has the translucent mirror. It records 1080 video and I want to do video podcasts recorded live. The Yeti just looks so nice like a talk show mic which is what I love. I definitely want a mic on the table near me and not mounted on the camera. This is for audio quality, plus I'll have 2 people in shot. The multi directional function would be great when 2 people are on screen.

    Thanks again.

  • I really want the Yeti, but how can I record directly to my external mic port? It's USB only. Is there a way to convert from USB to 3.5mm jack or maybe use the headphone socket out to mic in on the camera? Thanks for any guidance.

  • @1martand You are looking at the wrong sort of mic for your camera. What camera do you have? Maybe check out the Rode Videomic or Videomic Pro.

  • @ProShotVids123 Audio Technica AT2020 USB.

  • Nice and long, hahahaha!!!

  • DO YOU HAVE TO SET THE LATENCY WITH THE BLUE YETI???

  • would u reccomend the yeti or audiotechnica at2020

  • @stayroxy either, whichever you can get for a good price, they both perform close to each other.

  • HA HA! I got mine for $95 BRAND NEW!!!

  • what software for audio editing would be good with it? can someone give me some free softwares? :D

  • @D3athAnG3lDarK I use Garageband.

  • @davomrmac darnit.. im a pc - -

  • @D3athAnG3lDarK audacity

  • @davomrmac what do you reckon is a good mic for a budget of around about £60?

  • @MrJDOnline I would look at the Blue Snowball.

  • @davomrmac thanks, went out and got this today; absolutely great mic!

  • Geekanoids

    What is the best microphone

  • @themarcotte007 There are too many to list. What is your budget?

  • I'd get this but I question the ability to put this on a shock mount

  • would u suggest this or the audio technica mic for recording vocals

  • Actually enjoyed a review video.

    Great!

  • @N4RVS Cheers.

  • hello, if I were to place this mic in the middle of our band recording space (with drums, guitar, bass, vocals.) would it pick up all the sound? or do you need to be close to it for it to pick up. please reply! thanks!

  • Holy shit!!! this microphone is... quite impressive! o_O

  • i cant wait i am getting this mic for christmas when i seen it i was like woow and my mum was like dont get any idears holly lol

  • Hello, can you use this Mic as like a studio mic? With an audio interface and what not?

  • @WeCouldHappenAgain pretty sure it is USB only, so it won't work with an XLR interface.

  • great reviews as usual,bless !

  • @PeresD thank you.

  • that mic is HUGE !

  • would this be decent for recording some music?

  • @bj0ker123 Yes It would. I record Saxophone with it.

  • I just got this and I'm wondering what the best settings are to record rap vocals? I didn't mess with the gain at all and it's on stereo pattern and it sounds like your listening to it through a door. Can anybody help me? Thanks.

  • Comment removed

  • the best sound usb mic yet

  • Very good review, it sounds great. Thanks

  • @rosspeplow Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • Is this the pro version or normal?

  • @DarthVulku normal.

  • Great review. Shame about the timing - I believe the Yeti Pro! is now out that incorporates an XLR connection. Get your hands on one of those and tell us what you think!

  • Awesome D:!!!

  • A box within a box? INCEPTION!

  • @themilonoblet actually BOXCEPTION

  • It sounded like a voice over - love the affect!

  • Nice video. I want Blue to send me the Yeti so I can try it out with my podcast and whatnot, but meh. I'll still with my Samson GoMic. Sounds terrific and is less than $40.

  • Nice...

    The difference is quite shocking

  • Under £200 quid thats a steel in anyones book. I am going to get mine as soon as I watched this video.

  • Its very strange, I'm not even interested in half the stuff you review but I still watch every video just because I like your style!

  • better than the snowball?

  • @Nightvisionlol Yes, most definitely.

  • @Nightvisionlol Yeah it's made by the same company, this one is an upgrade off the snowball. The Yeti pro would be even better than the regular Yeti, etc etc.

  • you should use this, like plugging it in to the computer while recording yourself.

  • i'm loving your channel man keep it up the best on youtube

  • tu dudu tu duu....

  • thats a great price very good review dave!

  • is this your job?

  • great review Dave!

  • Wow, that microphone has amazing sound quality.

  • I suppose it would be possible to connect a line in cable from the 3.5mm jack on the Mic to a 3.5mm input on a camera to record sound from the Yeti whilst recording video

  • You should have had the mic closer to you. It would have increased the quality :p

  • @HjorturTheDawg It was just 12" away, this is an average distance most users would place it.

  • @davomrmac It usually best to have it kinda beneath you instead of so far away. :)

  • Is this mic just for use on a computer or can you also use it as an external mic for your camera?

  • @ecartman12 It is USB only, so computer only.

  • I love Blue mics

  • i expected so much more.

  • Excellent video as always Dave. I love the lower end stuff (not to mention the $3k you can spend on a mic), from Blue. I am publishing a review on their Spark ($199) tomorrow, and while drafting out notes I really realize what an excellent value it is and what unique offerings they bring to the table. Anyways, great review. Keep up the smashing work.

  • I've wanted one of these since the first day I saw it! You should give me this one.

  • @Dustrick Me too!

  • nice!

  • Nice Review!
