I've known since I was a kid that our government is a corporate fascist government. The only reason they are finally waking up is because now living has become harder for them. Well, Ford did borrow money from the Government. They borrowed 5.9 billion and a bit more. I think its funny they made a lost 4Q 2008 5.9 billion loss, and borrowed that same amount. That particular 5.9 billion was to "research fuel efficient cars." But I'm sure those programs were going long b4 they got the 5.9 billion to cover that same loss. Fact is our current foriegn trade has set us up for to fall. That needs to be restructured.

I don't get how people can confuse the individual mandate with government giving away health care. Unless I'm mistaken, after the public option was removed, the government no longer had a provision in the Affordable Care Act to give health care to anybody.

You want some good moral lessons, check Islam. One of the 5 pillars (like the first 3 of the ten commandments) is charity. According to the Qur'an, you MUST donate 1/40th of your income to charity, and another optional amount. The optional part is mandatory, but how much you give is your choice. This is a vast improvement on the Christian law that states 10% goes to the CHURCH, not charity. Islam has other improvements on Christianity too

@Murphygrif You obviously have no clue how a Govt. run healthcare plan works. Medicaid routinely denies tests that someone such as Aetna would approve. I worked in the field(Medical insurance billing and coding) for many years. Prior to that I worked as a CMA in the front office for an internal medicine practice. I had to submit referrals that medical turned down quite often. Aetna, Blue Cross, Cigna for example would approve same test's for another patient. Clueless people drive me insane.

There are extraordinarily long waits for even basic care, and months to schedule something. Costs do not go down. Taxes go up in order to pay for the programs. The healthcare systems in the UK, Canada and other European countries are bankrupt and failing because it is an unsustainable system and grossly mismanaged.

But, in a way I erred (I am not perfect!) and I should have said GM posted a profit finally. Both GM and Ford are now posting profits, and IMHO averted a disaster that would have made our bad economic situation (thank you Dubya) even worse. Thousands would have lost their jobs and their would have been massive repercussions if GM had folded.

@Mikahaan - Yep, that is the point i am trying to make. It is not so much we are against these rigthwing extremists, but they are completely ignorant about reality and facts. The feelings in their gut that Fixed Noise "confirms" perpetuates this ignorance.
