Sang this and walked to it for my 5th grade graduation. Been trying to find this song for years but never knew it was called "Jamaica Farewell," lol. Oh, the memories.
When I was a young 4 year old sometime around 1961.. my Mom had a 4 song Belafonte 45. Maybe it was a 33. The songs were.. "Day-o", "Will His Love be Like his Rum","Jamaica Farewell", and "Dolly Dawn".
Harry and the boys made some of the most beautiful songs of all-time! God bless them, God bless you and God bless my family and buddies! Ole! as the Spanish say!
Love this original version of his nostalgic song... am favoriting and storing it in my file of favorites. Thank you for uploading it. Clicked "liked" for 34 points.

But I'm sad to say I'm on my way
won't be back for many a day
my heart is down, my head is turning around
I had to leave a little girl in Kingston town.

Down the day where the nights are gay
And the sun shines daily on the mountain top
I took a trip on a sailing ship
And when I reached Jamaica I made a stop
But I'm sad to say I'm on my way
won't be back for many a day
my heart is down, my head is turning around
I had to leave a little girl in Kingston town.
I heard this song in my childhood. thanks for posting this song
