You can't compare having to defend yourself from a punch, a kick, takedowns, submissions, etc.. to just having to defend yourself from punches. It leaves you way more vulnerable to getting hit by surprise. Besides that, in boxing after you get knocked out you have a 10 count to recuperate while in mma you get knocked out and your pretty much done for. I like both sports but they are way different.
