  • i'm deaf wel hard of hearing always have been a hearing aid helps but I still miss things, still unable to talk in group bigger than 3 or 4 people. I can't sign in british sign lanuage never mind american. But even so I sort of understand this guy.

  • I really want to get to know the deaf community but I have a problem. I have hyper accute hearing meaning I hear more than most people do. I can hear sounds that are as low as -15 decibels and I can also hear an octave higher and an octave lower than people with normal hearing. Loud noises are extremely uncomfortable and sometimes painful. Would the deaf community resent me because I wish I didn't have to hear so much? I'm currently studying sign.

  • can someone plz translate that in english words

  • dickkkiiieeeeeeee! (it's leana)

  • excuse me, dont you relaize chris have been lonely and wanted to know what his friends talk about and his family is hearing hes the one whos deaf hes frustrated that he feel left out he wants to be able to hear and now it happened to him, hes happy, so your video the way you talk about, its not true. but hes deaf they dont know how to communicate with him and what now... he finally hears and all people excited to talk to him and chris looks very happy to hear anything. show some respect, thanks.

  • Sooo...with a CI you can't hear? I don't get it. I mean I know with or without a CI you were born deaf, and will always have your problems. But in the caption it said that after Chris go his CI his peers were all "he can hear!" and that's not true. I thought he could hear?

  • Is he saying the implant is going to lik explode in ur head or something? haha

  • my little sister was born with hear problems they had to put tubes in her ears and from then on she can hear loud and clear, but as a baby she had to sign and i learned so that i could talk with her..i find it neat, signing gave me a way to talk to a loved one, and gave her a way to talk back....since then i have stopped using it ( the Doctor told us to :/ ) but it is very useful, and like someone said in one comment is a beautiful part of speech

  • I wish I could speak sign language. No matter what, deaf people with CI's are still not able to hear like speaking people do. I don't know alot about CI's, but I know from experience that deaf people can't always cope with a CI. People can think that they are a cure for being deaf, but they have no idea how wrong they are. (Like I would know) Well, thank you for making this video. I hope people are not stupid enough to believe in a perfect miracle.

  • I understood nothing you said lol. But what you said must have either been deep or very annoyed? good job regardless! glad you spoke out about it

  • i feel you, man! i moved to Thailand when i was 7 years. that time, i don't had any education in my life. i am hard of hearing but my heart say Deaf is power!. Anyway, i went into school in csdf, california school for the deaf, and then i got success and i am happy even though i don't need hearing aid. i into a college. my life is everything are OK!

  • dude ur awesome im taking ASL and this is my second class... i love ASL and i really Admire the Deaf Culture... u guys r awesome... gog bless your culture.... and everything you said is exactly true... some ppl take beinf Deaf is a disease or an illness which is not Deaf people are not handicap... they can see walk and do all teh things a hearing person does.. yet they are not able to hear but it does not mean they are dumb or ignorant.... so just respect the Deaf Culture like every one elses..

  • hey! ^_^ =D

you are right. you alomst same me that your story. yay!

  • I argee but i told my mom when i was 12 i really dont want to wear Cochlear Implant because it bothering me with the mangant on my head so i use hearing aid more better can hear all the talking and took practice with my voice now i can talk and signing with deaf i used to go deaf mall and deaf expo many people there.. and im surpise many deaf around the world! i Argee with u better just let the kids decide if they wants or not..

  • I'm hearing but I've always been very interested in sign language. I bought a sign language dictionary (The Joy of Signing) and started teaching myself. In the 12th grade I met a girl in my school who was deaf and I introduced myself to her. We became good friends and she helped me learn a lot. She had a hearing aid but she hated to wear it cuz when the school bell would ring to let us know to change classes it always hurt her ears.

  • i hate deaf ppl

  • @metal4ever1965 Then die cuz God hates ya.

  • @metal4ever1965 and im sure they hate you too, i know i do hunny :-D

  • I'm sorry.. What were you saying?

  • @UgIzZz Learn.

  • you're same as me!

  • U look like the sims

  • I have no intention of attack in my message but i get sick and tired of this unaided versus aided hearing war. You know get over it. If you want the best opportunities then some deaf people will choose to try aided hearing. Partly because a parent wants their child to have as much as they can provide. it's that persons choice and duh a Cl doesn't cure deafness but if started with the right therapy and support system new OPEN doors can be established that were not there bfore. I rest my opinion

  • @lkjdklskdjfls , its not the best opportunity its just an option...look at it this way..if a deaf couple got their hearing son's eardrum removed so he could be like them (deaf), ppl would be outraged...so why isnt it the same when hearing people force a CI on an innocent baby...at least wait til the child makes its OWN decision, just because some hearing people are uncomfortable with deafness doesnt mean they need to FIX it, leave it be!

  • you're cute but i wish i knew sign lol XD

  • Your personality is cool.

  • MTV sucks now? showcasing a billion dollar industry.. tens of thousand more babies and younger children getting CI's now. Thanks alot! These devices does not always help one become a hearing person, believe it or not. GET IT? Its the worst thing being done.. Thats why it pisses me off. American Sign Language is beauitful as much as English, and its not taught or promoted. CI's get all that, and capitalize over innocent victims like Chris.. Being Deaf is true life, quit pulling wool over eyes!

  • @Bunjer Hearing is colonizing Deaf.

  • @MrDatisshit Yep, thats very true, and cause false hopes and confusion! MTV is making a mistake oppressing Deaf People.. Should have consulted with the Leaders of the Deaf Community beforehand.. Unfortunately in that case they didn't and even victimize an innocent deaf person in the process..

  • thats so cool that your not letting anything get in your way and your not doing what society wants you to do. keep up the determination and you will accomplish more in life then people think that you can.

    =))

  • Great video. Really great.

  • Hey! I kissfist the video. what I've seen with kids who got the CI was that when they have it on they hear and when they want it off they deaf again. But I liked the video, your a cool kid.

  • wat ur name

  • Thanks for the translation in the video info! I'm not deaf, I was just messing around on youtube and i started watching videos about deaf people. It's interesting.

  • Hey, I guess I FINALLY added the English translation next to the video on the right. Read please! Sorry it took me a year to do this! You know how life is! Important that I finally pushed myself to caption this! It was less than half hour surprisingly, eh?!! Again, sorry!

  • Like any hearing person is going to know what you are saying. This video would only reach a deaf audience. And deaf people already KNOW the misconceptions. You'd be better off putting subtitles if you really want to get your point across to everyone who don't know much about the deaf.

  • Yeah, you're right. True. I just looked at my videos and already I kind of feel overwhelmed by the need to caption it. It's funny, I do firmly and fully believe, support, and engage in full access for everyone that they fully deserve as a human. But dang. So much to caption, blah. Maybe voiceover? I could find someone to voiceover this.

  • @MegGriffinX

yet you hearies dont subtitle your videos to get your point across to us deaf people?

  • @fullbeard420 the video is about talking about the misconceptions of deaf people, if you want non people to know about the misconceptions, its obvious you have to provide a translation otherwise only deaf people would be able to understand this video and they already know the misconceptions. Its just logic dude. But i guess if you didn't want people to know about the misconceptions then thats not my fault or worry. You can just live with the misconceptions then.

  • lol cool 5 star good job mmm cute boy lol jk

  • sure sure you are capable of doing everything without a cochlear implant, but don't put it down, think of it as an opportunity. I have an implant and im just glad i got it. I feel without it i would miss out half the things in the world. But props to you and your great confidence.

  • Chris doesn't wear hearing aids, and never uses his voice....

  • COOL

  • Shut up. Let chris make his decision. Also, you were wrong about the interpreter. She didn't have to run up and then down. Some interpreters stay in the same spot or prefer to be with the teacher, so they can hear the teacher better. Chris didn't get the cochlear implant to get all girls' attention. That isn't true, The main reason why did he get his CI, because he really want to hear and learn how to speak. Got it? If you don't understand what I am saying. PM me.

  • Haha. Well, I'm sorry. I suppose some people may refuse to use their voice because of misconceptions that may come with it. For example, hearing people are gullible to believe that one Deaf person speaking means all other Deaf people can speak. They instantly try to follow the oral method because it's easier for THEM, whereas it's more difficult for the Deaf people. Sign language is the best when it comes to breaking down barriers and it doesn't limit your communication with hearing people.

  • To Deafilmmaker01: You are EVIL DUMBEST and LIAR! You are WRONG! Don't ever call hearing people gullible! They are smart and intelligent and they are smarter than you!

  • Just because we can hear doesn't automatically make us smarter. Sometimes I wish I were deaf so I wouldn't have to hear all the bull that falls out of peoples' mouths without a first or second thought. Hearing, deaf, blind, mute, doesn't matter. People are people, and in the end we're all imperfect. So get rid of that illusion of superiority that you've built up in yourself, diva.

  • thank you shawt182, someone who knows facts and life instead of opions and prejudice comments. we are humans, imperfection.

  • no prob bill. i'm the last person to put themselves on a pedestal, and i KNOW that nobody here is perfect. The way I see it, being deaf isn't anything but a difference. and so far in history, judging by differences has gotten humanity nowhere and nothing good.

  • and your right by that. its just a difference. i have schizophrenia, and im a diabetic and im only 16. but i still contain the normal teenager life, but i just think that sometimes no matter what difference you have, it would be great to get away from it to live better. but as for this case people are proud of being deaf c ause they lived so strong for it but no one is the same, and sometimes escaping is the best. you sould add me shawt192. so we can talk again. cya! -glenn

  • i have cochlear implant and im still deaf, and i dont understand why if you have the skill to speak but wont use it? i dont have speech skill and it piss me off to no end to see people having the skill but refuse to use it because i would give anything to have that skill.

  • you are so right, you can be a deaf and work any job you want!

  • Yeah! And I'm not just saying that.. I mean, it IS a reality for Deaf people to do that without having to get the CI. If hearing people give them a chance to showcase their skills, then I'm sure it would be a success story. Just give them a chance.

  • @Deaffilmmaker01 I'm a hearing person and I find that most hearing people who are parents of profoundly deaf children are too quick to implant their children as young as possible so that they can train them to talk. I believe that a cochlear device should only be used as a last resort when the parents have tried everything else and it doesn't work for their child.

  • hey.. thanks for making this video... im just learning to sign and i understand some of it but i was hoping you wouldnt mind translating it for me,,,, thanks :0)
