You forget just how much money some of these corporations have. They could very easily buy out their competitors; the need to just hasn't arisen yet. When it does, they'll buy them out, then lower quality as much as they please.
The competitors aren't obliged to sell. Further, if they DID buy everyone out and lower quality, their sales would plummet and alternatives would once again crop up. People are NOT stupid... not yet, anyway. They won't just buy bad shit forever, they'll produce alternatives. It happens all the time, even in this ridiculously restrictive market, and it'll happen even more in the free market. "Free". Like "freedom".
Competitors are not obliged to sell, no. But offered enough money, and most will.
At that point, when everything is owned by a small number of large corporations, (who, in fact, have no regulations to worry about), people won't have much of a choice BUT to buy from them.

Too bad small business is 70% of the market, that is a lot of buying out to do. Mean while buying out isn't always looked at from a positive view and can ruin the imagine of a company, like Electronic Arts. They buy out some good companies and turn their products to crap. Sometimes I blame that with Westwood studios buy out from EA, back in the old days.
And the more bad imagine, the more the other company may reject high dollar offers unless they are hurting.
The problem is, the regulatory bodies are always corrupted. That's what my Rick Perry example aimed to demonstrate: the FDA approved that deadly vaccine. They're in-pocket just as much as the politicians are. Creating these regulatory bodies only gives major corporations a power stronghold by which to manipulate the state. This way, their products are hailed while all competition is stifled and prevented. Like I said, they would LOSE power if America stopped it's 'regulation' fascade.
I understand what you mean, but clearly these restraints aren't functioning. The companies who are supposed to be governed simply buy out the governing body and use it to remove competition. The FAA are completely owned by the big airlines and use their power to protect and cover-up, while punishing smaller airlines for daring to compete. The EPA is one of the worst, just look at their history with the tobacco industry. Ron Paul would remove this power and allow customers to regulate companies.
Edge, Paul's voting record is how they know he's not corrupt. Look at it. It sparkles. Consistency, principle, fiscal tight-fistedness... the man simply does not waver. Unfortunately, that isn't going to happen, but trying to keep some sort of control over businesses is the best way to go about things.

How do you know what competitors will do? You don't control the market. I reckon most will realise that, without unfair restrictions placed upon them, they have the potential to become as big as or bigger than their main competitor, without selling out.
Corporations won't be allowed to stop any small business, because the individual's right will be protected in a Paul Presidency, as he has clearly stated before.

No, monopolies are not possible under the current system because of the restrictions placed upon businesses; monopolies were made illegal.
Plus, a "Paul Presidency" can't stop the large businesses from doing as they please, because they won't have any laws stopping them.

I like how these people say that it's impossible to have monopolies, well they're right in a way, owning 95% of a certain market isn't technically a monopoly but it's pretty damn close.
Under a free market having a lot of money doesn't necessarily give you power, but if government mixes with business then you have corporations with power, when they can't buy someone one out they ask government to make restrictions to prevent small businesses from appearing. Too bad small business is 70% of the market, that is a lot of buying out to do. Mean while buying out isn't always looked at from a positive view and can ruin the imagine of a company, like Electronic Arts. They buy out some good companies and turn their products to crap. Sometimes I blame that with Westwood studios buy out from EA, back in the old days.
And the more bad imagine, the more the other company may reject high dollar offers unless they are hurting.

The problem is, the regulatory bodies are always corrupted. That's what my Rick Perry example aimed to demonstrate: the FDA approved that deadly vaccine. They're in-pocket just as much as the politicians are. Creating these regulatory bodies only gives major corporations a power stronghold by which to manipulate the state. This way, their products are hailed while all competition is stifled and prevented. Like I said, they would LOSE power if America stopped it's 'regulation' fascade.

I understand what you mean, but clearly these restraints aren't functioning. The companies who are supposed to be governed simply buy out the governing body and use it to remove competition. The FAA are completely owned by the big airlines and use their power to protect and cover-up, while punishing smaller airlines for daring to compete. The EPA is one of the worst, just look at their history with the tobacco industry. Ron Paul would remove this power and allow customers to regulate companies.

Edge, Paul's voting record is how they know he's not corrupt. Look at it. It sparkles. Consistency, principle, fiscal tight-fistedness... the man simply does not waver. That's not to say that he's perfect; he is after all a politician, and therefore capable of a certain measure of deception. People definitely shouldn't trust him. No politician should be trusted. Ron Paul should be challenged at every turn, and if his record is anything to go on then we can have faith that he will always pass.
