  • brilliant and i mean proper, top man brilliant well done vgs thanks.

  • HOW DO I EXPORT ALL 4 TRACKS AT THE SAME TIME?

  • im still having a hard time getting all the tracks to playback on my cp as an mp3 or wav I just want to record 3 or four tracks then burn them to a cd. any help would be great thanks

  • @MrFknjerk The normal multi track record mode uses a proprietary format, meaning it isnt usable until you convert it to mp3 or wav thru mastering. press exit +utility buttons until mastering icon lights up, then with levels and pan set on your keeper tracks, press record/play to bounce the master tracks, then press stop and you will see export options. The finished song will be in your BR's mp3 folder when connected to computer.

  • @MrFknjerk there's a small application made by Roland which allows you to export/import the tracks you have recorded, while the unit is plugged in to the computer through USB. search for "BR series wave converter" or simply BRWC300 on google and go for the page from the Roland website. the good thing is that even if you use bouncing to record more than four tracks, since you have the original virtual tracks, you can mix all the original tracks on your computer.

  • @robinfinity can you export 4 tracks at the same time?

  • @ACE9647 well, if by Export you mean copy the recorded tracks as WAVs to the computer, then with the BRWC desktop application, by clicking "All" and "Go".

if you mean mixing the 4 tracks together to have some empty tracks, then select bounce mode (press Exit+Utility together), select the track and virtual track where the result will be stored (12V or 34V if you want the result to be stereo), press record, play the song, and at the end select the new virtual track, and some empty ones.

  • @robinfinity well when i go to export a track it only lets me export 1and2 or 3and4 at most. so i guess i have to mix them or something?

  • @ACE9647 the tracks that you select on the first page while doing bounce or mastering are the tracks where the result will be saved. So 12 and 34 mean that the result of the bounce will be saved to tracks 12 or 34. All the tracks will be played and recorded. if you want to record only a few of them, reduce the volume to 0, and don't forget to disable the rhytm (unless you need it). also, be careful to not overwrite virtual tracks that you need.

  • @robinfinity btw thanks for the reply!

  • Is it possible to record actual drum kit pieces using the built-in microphone?

  • Thank you for helping me get started now I just need to know how to edit a V track and start piecing the tracks together can you help me with this please thanks..

  • @marcangel79 It's kinda complicated to cover in a comment block and probably needs its own video. For now, I'll say you can copy tracks to other tracks, setting the begin point in measures, beats and frames. You can also set in and out points (a>b) and punch in/out to re-record parts. Wouldn't it be easier to get a good take then use that track in full? Don't know why you need to splice tracks, but it is possible to do.

  • @gravelroadmedia yeah I just figured it out thanks yeah I thought that was the only way to do it was using the V track but then I went over your other videos and realized that the v track are there mainly to get the best takes thanks again...

  • how do you put the songs on the computer?

  • @TheColdrevenge Press exit+utility to get mastering icon up. rewind to beginning, press record, play to start mastering. when finished press stop. press Yes to export, value right to WAV, then EXE, then Yes. That track name.wav is the file you will find in your mp3 folder when connected to your computer.

  • @gravelroadmedia thank you just made my first song.

  • @TheColdrevenge Let's hear it!

  • Finally - - with your last instruction, everything worked fine. Another thing I had to work through is that when you reach "Now Exporting", the BR is not actually exporting , but is only setting up the BR tracks for export, as indicated by the progress [PROG] line. After that is finished, that's when you actually connect to to your computer and do the downloading to iTunes. Also, even if you exported as a WAV file, it is still found in the mp3folder. Thanx. You made me a happy camper . . . .

  • @mathroots Glad to help.

  • Thanx 4 quick response. After this post, I did watch your "Bouncing" video - -very helpful. Is bouncing a necessary and absolute step that MUST be done before a to-computer transfer? that's what it sounds like you have been saying in earlier remarks. Also, at one point you said to turn on mp3 - -does that mean that you can't transfer WAV files? . .or they they need to be converted to mp3 to bounce/transfer?

  • @mathroots bouncing not required. just makes more space if 4 trx are not enough. do this: press exit+utility to get mastering icon up. rewind to beginning, press record, play to start mastering. when finished press stop. press Yes to export, value right to WAV, then EXE, then Yes. That track name.wav is the file you will find in your mp3 folder when connected to mac. hopefully this walk through will help make sense of it. I would apologize for Boss, but I'm not affiliated. Thx for kind words.

  • I have been one of the hair-pulling people like others below, in trying to figure out how to transfer my tracs to Mac. I keep getting one track. I have picked up bits and pieces from the comments. You would do the entire BR world a huge service if you would post a video showing the entire process, especially the "bounce" part you refer to (a process I am still not clear on). A picture being worth a thousand words, your videos are worth trillions. Still confused and unsure of the steps . ..

  • @mathroots Click on the link below any of my vids to see the playlist with all of them. I have one on bouncing, but not mastering yet. Bouncing combines the 4 active tracks into 2 for continued layering. The mastering mode is geared toward exporting a finished song. I would put the link here, but youtube won't let me put html in a comment block.

  • I'm not able to provide a full answer right now, but briefly u are exporting a track only. To include all tracks go through the mastering mode and your active V tracks will be exported as a stereo mix.

  • Hi I am have the same issue as the guy below: Its EXTREMELY frustrating and would really appreciate help. I have two tracks successfully on machine-I listen to it and the 'song' has guitar and vocals on track 1 and 2. I then export it name it and turn it into MP3 bring it on CU and its only the guitar?

Anyone willing to step my step me through this? Would love to be able to use this impressive machine. Please be patient first attempts at recording on a multitrack.

    Jonathan

  • Btw I have read the manual and that didn't help

  • Okay so I have one major problem that I've been trying to fix with my Micro BR. That problem is exporting full songs. Once I finish a song I try to export the WHOLE song....so all 4 tracks that I've recorded. Problem is it only lets me export 2 tracks at most cuz when I go to export it will only give me option of exporting either the first two tracks (1 and 2) or the last two (3 and 4). It doesn't export the full thing! How do I fix this?

  • @ryguy2598

You have to use the bounce mode (press edit and utility simultaneously to switch modes) to record your four tracks down to 2 (either onto trks 1 & 2 or trks 3 & 4). Once that's done you should then go into export mode.

  • @uberteknik and I'll add, if you do that exporting from the "mastering" mode, you can apply mastering patches to the output. makes it sound better, clearer, louder than a simple export.

  • @halilougia Sorry, I normally check my answers before posting, but I dont have the BR on me right now so I was winging it. I guess you'll need to learn to love multi-tracking (ie, record gtr part and mic part separately and mix down) or get a two input interface/mixer with a line out to plug into the BR. Good luck.

  • @halilougia press the input then gtr button. hold it down while u select lin/ext button, then both should be all CAPS. These will be mixed at the sensitivity you chose for each, and they will record to the same track, so get the mix right on the front end. might require some trial and error. G'luck.

  • is there any way to quickly delete a virtual track?

  • @thefakeguy from the main song page in normal record mode, press UTIL, TRK, ERS. Then use cursor and value buttons to select Track and Vtrack to delete. Then press ALL to delete the full track, or one of the other options to erase part of the track. Thanks for watching.

  • @thefakeguy select the V trk you want to delete, then press Utility>TRK>ERS. I think that's it, but I dont have the BR with me right now to be sure. Also, no need to erase if you just want to do another take, just record over it.

  • How do you assign specific effects for each individual track after recording all four tracks? Thanks

  • @sandeatingcontest see reply at part 5 video. i cant seem to post a link for you.

  • cheers,,,,,,,,these have been helpfull,,,,,,,,,,I was pulling my hair out,,,,,,,,,I don't think much of the Manual

  • @SNORETALKING Sorry, I've been away from the web for a while. A couple of generic comments:

You cant bounce to stereo without two destination traks 1&2 or 3&4, i.e., you can't pan left and right unless there is a Left & Right (stereo) pair.

The traks you are mixing must be the active V-tracks or they won't be recorded to the bounce.

Finally, nothing is usable by another device (computer) until it is exported or mastered out to mp3 or WAV. Hope that helps.

  • What store can i buy one and how much does it cost?

  • @StupidVids2009 You need to select mp3 mode before you start recording. That's the only way you will create an mp3 or WAV file directly. When you record in normal mode (mp3 icon off) the recording is stored in a proprietary format that won't transfer directly to your computer.

If you already recorded in normal mode and need to convert to mp3 or WAV, use Utility then TRK then EXP to export a track to mp3 or WAV. Then it should show up in the mp3 folder when u connect the BR to your computer.

  • wow. u don't know how much this helped me. thank you so much!

  • Thx 4 watching. Rhythm is like a separate trk, so you can playback your 4 trx plus rhythm. If u don't want to keep metronome, just turn it off for playback. If you bounce or export trx w/rhythm ON, it will be recorded onto the mix

you can record guitar "dry" w/no fx by changing a setting under effects>cursor rt> loc >value+ to get "rec dry" U can then apply different fx on playback using same menu area (cursor right) see manual p.66

confusing? I know. Am working on more videos.

  • everything is straight forward on this except (in my case) BOUNCING!!!!!! I record 4 tracks then I was told by roland to bounce these down to one stereo track before I export and send the mp3 files to my computer.....when I click on the mp3 file in my computer I can only ever here 2 tracks....that is track 1 and 2. I must be doing something very wrong. Driving me nuts!!!!! does anyone know the easy way to get a 4 track song onto my computer!!!!!!!!!!!! please help!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you for this too....you make it look easy...hey, when recording with the guitar input and metronome, does the metro get recorded as well...and should you record a drum track on V2 ....or is there a way to just record to the metro and have it not get recorded...also...is it true that you can change all the guitar effects after you have recorded the song.

  • Hi, Thanks for your explanation things are a lot clearer now and I can get down to some serious recording once I make myself familiar with the micro. Thanks once again for all your time and information.

  • Hi there again,so far your help has been invaluable but I'm stuck on a couple of points Lather, rinse and repeat and TIM and MEA I've looked at all your excellent videoes but am still confused. I've also read the manual several times but it still does'nt make sense your help would be gratefully appreciated Many thanks

  • On the song page (the startup page) in Normal mode (not MP3, not Master, or Bounce), the numbers you see on top are Measures-Beats-Partial Beats. Below that you see hours-minutes-seconds-frames.tenths of frames. If you want to import a song into a track, you have to specify where the file should start. You may want it to come in at measure zero. Import then to MEA 00-00-00. You may want it to come in at 30 seconds, import to TIM 00:00:30-00.0.

Lather, rinse, repeat. An old shampoo joke.

  • Get all these videos by clicking on the playlist link in the description (top right), or go to my channel and see the micro br playlist.

  • Hi I will try what you say I must say I found the manual difficult to understand, this is my first try at recording. Thanks for taking the effort and time to reply, hopefully this will solve my problems.

  • Yep. Tracks 1/2 will contain the imported data, so you'll have to record onto track 3 or 4. Once these are full, you can bounce the stereo mix down to two tracks of your choosing, lather, rinse, repeat.

You'll need to have the correct virtual tracks selected to hear playback. That is, if you copied to Track 1&2V1, your output will only play if you select V1 of Tracks 1 & 2.

Set levels, plug guitar in, select guitar as input, press play button to practice, record/play to record.

  • you seem to know what you are doing here.......I am still having problems getting 4 tracks on to my computer........I can only hear track one and two from the mp3 file on my computer!!!!!!

  • finally got my head round the bouncing issue..........I still think the manual could be a lot more straight forward,,,,,,,,I'm on top of it now but it's taking me two days messing about.

  • Hi. Many thanks for your quick reply the info has been very helpful.Does this mean that once my mp3 is imported onto TRK's 1 and 2 all I have to do is plug my guitar into the guitar socket press the start button and then play along to my b/t

  • Reference Micro BR manual p. 115, right column. Dont know if your b/t's are already stereo mixes or if you want to put one in TR1 the other TR 2 and then set pan / level

Short answer: Norm mode, Utility button, TRK, Cursor RT, IMP (import), select mp3 file, NEXT, select track(s) to receive import & TIM or MEA to set begin point for import. When selecting track, you can pick 1/2 or 3/4 stereo

The mp3 will be imported as regular track data. Hope this makes sense when you have the micro in hand

  • Hi I want to play my backing track on tracks 1 and 2 in stereo and record my guitar in mono My b/t's are in mp3. the manual is not that clear on this Thanks

  • i have specific question, i dont know if you could answer it or direct me to another video... Well i recorder a song, only 2 tracks. one was chords and the other was me soloing,. i wanted to put them on my computer however when i converted the tracks it only converted 1 track, how do i either convert whole songs, or combine 2 tracks into 1. plz help

  • recorded*

  • Sounds like you want the "mastering" function. Select it by pressing "exit" and "utility" buttons until the word "mastering" appears. But first, make sure you are happy with levels and pan settings on recorded tracks. Turn on rhythm if you want to export it with your tracks (also set rhythm level).

  • The display will show 12V2 in the top right of window. This means it is about to mix down your tracks to stereo tracks 1&2 using virtual track 2 on each to give L/R stereo out. You can change the destination tracks with cursor / value buttons.

Look under "effects" button to find preset mastering setups. Once ready, press record & play. When song plays through, press stop, and the recorder will ask you if you want to export as MP3 or WAV.

Transfer via usb cable or card reader. Good Luck!

  • Yes, you can store your own rhythm arrangement where each part of the song has its own tempo. Look for my two vids on rhythm. Thanks for watching.

  • Thanks, that helped alot, i even put it on youtube haha

  • can you change the tempo from the verse to the chorus like if you want to drop down 20bpm would you be able to?

  • This is really good. I did a bit of research on youtube and couldnt find anything describing the applications quite as good as yours does. So good i went out and bought it. Thanks.

  • I've been knee-deep in video projects, but I definitely want to get back to this series. Thanks a million for the feedback.

  • nice video man. when will you upload part 5?
