@YoungOldSchoolRapper the marquis has a 2 valve 4.6 and the marauder has the 4 valve 4.6 similar to an automatic mach 1 engine, not the cobra motor people mistake it for. also, i believe the marauder is actually base more on the crown victoria body/interior than the marquis. grand marquis' have the column shifter but the rauder and the crown vic share the floor shifters.

The GXP is quite a bit lighter than the Marauder and that would be the advantage. With some 4:10 gears, I'm sure the Marauder would hang with the GXP. I've driven GXP's and the torque steer is a nightmare, but it's still a great car.

To the few who insist that the Impala SS is the better car, I say this: The Impala SS is one helluva ride! There would probably not have been a Marauder had it not been for the SS. Having said that, the Marauder is what the SS SHOULD have been. Funny how BOTH cars suffered similar fates.... lasted a couple of years and then gone. Only a handful of colors and MOST were black. Back to back, the Marauder feels better connected and steers and stops much better. BOTH cars rock!!!!

Besides have the 4Valve engine and not the 2 Valve engine (Cobra engine that is) and free flowing exhaust and better stiffer suspension, what are the difference between P71 package and Marauder? (The different engine is a big deal, but what else is the difference?)

Aside from the interior, suspension, and the body. The Marauder has a 4 valve 4.6 while the p71 was the 2 valve 4.6. The Marauders engine is not the same as the N/A Cobras as some say. It is more like the Automatic Mach 1. The automatic Mach 1 has a weaker crank than the 5 spd.

@sseliet88 The marauder has a worse ride but a better exhaust + heads, and about 20 extra horsepower (actually 80). :) Marauder is louder but still accelerates like a turd. I drove several Marauders before I bought my '04 Grand Marquis instead. I built an exhaust, added a better intake, and got an SCT programmer to make it stop shifting like a grandma car - now the only thing I really miss about the Marauder is the center console and the better looks (they *do* look better), but paint's cheap.
@dannysauer I also have a 04' Marquis and it has the handling package. What intake are you using? I'm looking at the AFEs and JLTs. Any opinions? Thanks!
@fiziksdrop180 : I just got the "P71 zip tube" - which is the intake tube from a cop car of the same year. The hot ticket is supposedly the police tube with the Marauder airbox (and the MAF from either one), but I thought changing the MAF would require a reprogram, so I've left that alone. It makes a slightly different sound, but I doubt that it's a huge performance difference. The exhaust (hand-made single 3") and SCT programmer made a bigger difference.

Ps: If you knew anything about the Panther Platform, you would know that it is one of the most reliable car platforms in the world, and its about 30 years old! Most Town Cars and Crown Vics last millions of miles, and if it ever does need repair it is a lot cheaper than more modern cars of today.

They only sold 11,052 of them because no one except for those 11,052 wanted them, who would want a heavy expensive so called muscle car that is getting beat by Honda Accord V-6's Altima V-6's and many other cars that arent considered muscle or high performance cars.
You don't understand, do you? No, 0-60 in 7 seconds isn't that fast, but the potential of these cars is FAR beyond any of that Japanese SHIT that you mentioned. As for sales, numbers mean nothing; the fact that only 11,052 were sold makes it better yet, because that makes it rare, and that's 11,000 proud owners out there. Ok yes my mistake I was messed up they have the Mustang Mach 1 engine in them not the GT the Mach 1 only puts out 300hp. They never meant for this to be a "muscle car" this car offers so much more then just brute power which it wasn't intended for.
Actual output of the Mach1is right at 345hp rated at 305. However the Marauder has a different cam grind and produces closer to what the factory rated, other than that the two engines are identical.
Right on. Shit, with the proper tune, you don't even need a Marauder to eat the Accord V6 alive....I have an '03 CVPI and my mom has an '04 Accord EX V6...even with my trunk full I still get good pulls in the mid 7's.
I drove the Accord at 80 mph once, it felt like the wheel was going to fall off. I've gone way over that in my Vic, and trust me, at about 75 mph, the car stiffens up and the handling becomes like a Nextel Cup car.
Yeah. Whole reason why Crown Victorias and Marauders are used as police cars. (Not so much Marauders but Crown Vics are common). But I drive an undercover Marauder.

I feel the same way about my Black Cat.
I may buy another hotrod in the future, but no matter what it is, it will always play 2nd fiddle to the Marauder.
The only way the title will see another name is when I "will" it off to a friend or a family member after my demise.
Unless of course I get crazy and want to be buried with it.

@silverfox605 Your info is way off! Ford called the Marauder the 1 % er for a reason. The Marauder was to be less than 1 percent of the entire production number for Grand Marquis vehicles. The Marauder production numbers are as follows:
2003 – Total: 7838 ( 328 Dark Pearl Blue, 417 Silver Birch, 7093 Black)
2004 – Total: 3214 ( 980 Dark Toreador Red, 997 Silver Birch , 1237 Black

@HaithamCV My friend, the story is one of high royalty bought them to be gifts but changed his mind after they arrived and placed them in a wharehouse. I received the story from a high level Ford Executive in 2009. He also has 400 Ford Excursions with V10 engines.

Besides have the 4Valve engine and not the 2 Valve engine (Cobra engine that is) and free flowing exhaust and better stiffer suspension, what are the difference between P71 package and Marauder? (The different engine is a big deal, but what else is the difference?)

Aside from the interior, suspension, and the body. The Marauder has a 4 valve 4.6 while the p71 was the 2 valve 4.6. The Marauders engine is not the same as the N/A Cobras as some say. It is more like the Automatic Mach 1. The automatic Mach 1 has a weaker crank than the 5 spd.

Very good informed response. I'm aware of some of the difference between regular Ford Crown Vic and P71 Police package. What do you think is the best improvement, in terms of handling, for the Marauder? How would you shed some weight?

@sseliet88 The marauder has a worse ride but a better exhaust + heads, and about 20 extra horsepower (actually 80). :) Marauder is louder but still accelerates like a turd. I drove several Marauders before I bought my '04 Grand Marquis instead. I built an exhaust, added a better intake, and got an SCT programmer to make it stop shifting like a grandma car - now the only thing I really miss about the Marauder is the center console and the better looks (they *do* look better), but paint's cheap.

@fiziksdrop180 : I just got the "P71 zip tube" - which is the intake tube from a cop car of the same year. The hot ticket is supposedly the police tube with the Marauder airbox (and the MAF from either one), but I thought changing the MAF would require a reprogram, so I've left that alone. It makes a slightly different sound, but I doubt that it's a huge performance difference. The exhaust (hand-made single 3") and SCT programmer made a bigger difference.

Ps: If you knew anything about the Panther Platform, you would know that it is one of the most reliable car platforms in the world, and its about 30 years old! Most Town Cars and Crown Vics last millions of miles, and if it ever does need repair it is a lot cheaper than more modern cars of today.

Ford really hit it right with the Marauder. There's a feel in these cars you can get NOWHERE else. Not even the Charger or the Crown Vic can deliver it! Part of me would rather take a Marauder over a Lamborghini. I can't explain it. American V8 at the front, power at the back wheels, four doors. The recipe for one hell of a car.

Yea you really think Ford hit it right with these cars. The new modern muscle car huh, 0-60 in the mid 7's isnt fast, a matter of fact its slow as balls. They only sold 11,052 of them because no one except for those 11,052 wanted them, who would want a heavy expensive so called muscle car that is getting beat by Honda Accord V-6's Altima V-6's and many other cars that arent considered muscle or high performance cars.

As for sales, numbers mean nothing; the fact that only 11,052 were sold makes it better yet, because that makes it rare, and that's 11,000 proud owners out there. Ok yes my mistake I was messed up they have the Mustang Mach 1 engine in them not the GT the Mach 1 only puts out 300hp. They never meant for this to be a "muscle car" this car offers so much more then just brute power which it wasn't intended for.

Actual output of the Mach1is right at 345hp rated at 305. However the Marauder has a different cam grind and produces closer to what the factory rated, other than that the two engines are identical.

Right on. Shit, with the proper tune, you don't even need a Marauder to eat the Accord V6 alive....I have an '03 CVPI and my mom has an '04 Accord EX V6...even with my trunk full I still get good pulls in the mid 7's.
I drove the Accord at 80 mph once, it felt like the wheel was going to fall off. I've gone way over that in my Vic, and trust me, at about 75 mph, the car stiffens up and the handling becomes like a Nextel Cup car.
