I pay for my own insurance and medical expenses.
Gas taxes go to pay for roads, NOT income tax.

Every country that has followed the redistribution model has faced one unmistakable fact, poverty increases, dramatically. You can not show me a single case where this is not true. the government was created for three reasons:
to provide security to it's citizens(army, police etc),justice, and
order. Not to provide jobs for the people, or the countless programs that the government has created.

actually the government exists to promote the general welfare, provide for the common defense, and insure domestic tranquility. That is from the Constitution, including that part about the general welfare. The programs in existance were made because of the mandate our Government gave itself.

oh, im not saying that we do not need taxes,what im saying is that when the goverment takes on roles that it was not created for, it becomes big(it needs more money to operate) and inefficient. If the goverment would do what it was created for, you would have few more taxes than we have now. Jobs are created trough a market free of regulations. Except when it would affect the citizens(food safety,medicines ect.)

True. I think we do, however, need some programs that help education and try to keep people off of the streets and becoming productive members of society. And I mean we need something better than No Child Left Behind because that was poorly handled.

Gee under Bush our so called rights were (and still are) slowly stripped away. I think I'd rather have a government that helps us and not takes away our rights.
As for socialism, TAXES ALWAYS WERE government taking money from its citizens and using it to help its citizens, this is how things have been all the time. Why is that bad now?

The irony of it all: Gov. Palin, who recently redistributed money collected from oil companies to every man, woman and child in Alaska, mouths the evils of redistributing wealth. A recent CBO report makes it plain that McCain's (tax cut to the wealthy) tax regime will mire Americans further in debt, and yet we are supposed to believe McCain/Palin are somehow experts in such matters. Sick, really.

Lots of countries have free medical, free education, etc and they are free. Most of Europe does, we're one of the few industrialized nations that DOESN'T. Hearing this communism scare crap is old and nothing but lies.
