These guys should be noticed in North America...Because we want the album...My buddy of mine has the album he got online..we heard it all and it was amazing
Armada is the name of the fictional floating city in China Miéville's novel The Scar. The city is part of the fictional universe Bas-Lag. ..
at first I thought the band was named after the The Spanish Armada, specially judging from the album art, but after listening to this song I question :P
does anyone actually know how they decided on this name?
@jayson731 In order for them to have taken off in the US they would have to sound like Billy Talent or Finger Eleven or some other shit canadian band like that.

Jeff Martin is a giant douchebag. He is the most gag inducing live performer ever. Honestly, he is like a real life version of SHooter McGaven. Get real you stupid fuck. You arent even 1/10th as great as Led Zep.
The Armada kicks fucking ass! This is a GREAT song! Isn't that the point? Ah, yes it is. Jeff's place of residency really doesn't have anything to do with the fact that he and Wayne Sheehy are making phenomenal music together. Let's just listen and enjoy.
Does it really matter where Jeff chooses to live??? *LMAO* Teebs...you worry too much about the small things. And yes...Jeff is Canadian. Whether he has dual/or multiple citizenships...doesn't matter.
Well yes, Australia has always been a big market for TTP, and his wife being from there..... and like you said, outsiders will probably never know what REALLY happened behind the scenes....just listening to both sides, and it seems they all had their part to play in the breakup.....guessing Jeff is just trying to place some distance between himself and his former career ..... geographically speaking. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing him live again....at least give this thing a chance....
Ummmm.....he lives in Ireland now. And seems to care more about Australia than Canada....it's the first and only place he's played this music live so far..... son of the true north .... whatever....
What's it to me? I actually really liked the Tea Party, and this latest venture just sounds like Jeff reliving the glory years of that band with a different bunch of musicians.....kinda sad to watch actually.
And yes, he HAS been neglecting the country that gave him his start.
i've followed jeff's career (beginning with tea party indie release) since 1992 -- & i agree that he is neglecting the country he was born in & gave him his start.
but -- if another country apparently embraces him more -- what's a man to do? the woman that loves me more & shows me i'll probably gravitate to her...right..?
i'm just saying he must have his reasons (from his point-of-view, which neither of us can claim)...so when he comes, i'll make it whenever possible....
Sorry but its not " embrace him more." He just liked Ireland, and when you go to the shows he tells you between the songs why. and why he left.has nothing to do with neglect. He came to Holland, nobody knows him here, he played small ..well pubs really. And he liked it so much he told on stage he would be back. He did. If you feel good in some place wherever that is, you write great songs. He came to canada beginning of jan. I was there but JUST missed it. He will never neglect his roots.
I love artists who talk to the crowd......it makes them feel more 'real'. I agree with you.....who cares about where the dude lives?...it really doesn't matter. Seriously....his talent is incredible!!!! The best artist that I have ever heard. Hence why he has been my 'cocaine' (so to speak) for as long as he has been accessable to me as a musician.
Im no longer upset that the Tea Party has disbanded as obviously Jeff Martin had all the talent and this album from The Armada is really good!

The name of the band refers to the Spanish Armada:
"We were like, what is this?" [Jeff Martin] said. "It's massive, but what do we make of this?" That's when Sheehy commented,
"It's kind of like the Spanish Armada . . . attacking you from all fronts."(wikipedia)
