Her father was Catholic and her mother probably followed a Mayan traditional religion, so Vianne was probably influenced by both. I'd say that even if she didn't have a particular formal religion, Vianne had a spirituality which involved healing, inspiration, and release from shame and restriction.

The main theme of the film is that of yielding to one's passion and humanity, instead of propagating the dogma of oppression, shame, and "tranquility". I wouldn't say that the film has anything to say about monotheism beyond the fact that religion is purely detrimental to all forms of happiness.

@harveyderf do you have a good measuring system? i think you get to a point where its less about ingredients and more about math. i know that too much bran can make for a sloppy bear, and no one wants to deal with that! the ideal bear should be the length of your palm and no thicker than a robust branch. a rich, milky brown is really the gold, or, um, brown standard if you are a perfectionist like me! we can exchange recipes if you like? nothing beats a fresh bear early in the morn. bon apetit!

The ones I just curled off out of the oven were still a little on the mushy side yet the coloring was a perfect milky brown to die for. Yes nothing beats a fresh bear in the am and nothing beats that fresh baking smell. Yum!!!
