@MsElgranmax34 ...which is EXACTLY why itr DIDN'T end up in the final edit of the short it was intended for: Coruscant Sunset (also among my vids on here)! Well spotted - but thanks for the compliment! :-)
sounds complicated... but i'd love to learn how to do this. im in to film and this would really help me overcome my creative limits. I mean i can't just go destroying robots in a film and it's really just my little brother covered in tin foil lol
Not a show off - I've just improved, nothing more.
The 2007 reel was mostly stuff from 3 years ago now . The new reel covers the last 2 years only - mostly last year (2008).
It will show how far I've come - but you'll have to wait til the end of the week for it now, cos I'm filming on the next 2 days...(I work as a film extra too!) :-)
Um, if you think THIS one is good, then hold onto yer hat...!!! I'm about to release my showreel for 2008 - just going through some final 3D rendering, and some final motion graphics touches... ;-)
Should be online sometime within the next week... :-)
Funny you should say that - I did EXACTLY that kind of effect on my first paid VFX job...! Which is maybe why I didn't do it here - I don't like repeating my VFX too often...
It was on a music video (the complete version!)called "Gender Bender" by the band Ugly Mother...I believe that vid is already on YouTube, but I plan to upload it myself soon - watch this space... ;-)
Hey, sorry if I sound like a dickhead for saying this, but why would you render out "greenscreen" CG elements and bother keying when you can render with an alpha channel? Or render out a matte pass and switchmatte the beauty pass? Seems like a lot of extra work for no reason.
No - you don't sound like a dickhead - I did it because someone else privately commented that I hadn't shown an alpha channel in any of my showreels, unlike a lot of other VFX reels...and I was just starting out in the wonderful world of VFX! :-)
But you raised a valid point - in this case, it WASN'T necessary. Maybe just overkill for "safety's" sake...?
a friend of mine wanted to know what the music in the background was called, and maybe if you know who the author was of the music, could you tell me?
The music is taken from the film soundtrack of Mission Impossible: II and the author is Hans Zimmer - a GENIUS! I had to re-edit the tracks slightly so they fit the showreel...if only I had the money to hire Hans himself to do the track especially!! :-)
Sorry for not replying sooner - it's been a bit mad here!! Thanks for the high rating - but I'm aiming to improve on this one as well...! That's for another day though... ;-)

Thank you - that's a very generous and kind statement! As always, though, I aim to beat this one - it still needs work... :-)
