i just got a 99 jimmy and after driving a couple time all most the transmission fluid is gone.nothing on the ground though but all over under the fron end.does this sound like the cooling lines need replaced?i dont have the cash to be getting another tranny.thanks for the vid.
@tweed187187 Definitely sounds like the lines. Follow them from the rad to the trans. Do not run the trans low on fluid or you will burn the clutch packs out! The lines r under pressure so if you must use a hose to fix it, double clamp each end and check for leaks. Check fluid with truck running, level, and warm. Top off with quality fluid.
@AllThingzVideo yAre you saying if it's the hose and i have to replace them to clamp them first?they are metal lines so i couldnt clamp them.ive been real sick so i havent been able to get back under but when i feal better maybe it will show where its leaking from when i put fluid back in.oh do you know if the bottom of the power steering pump can leak?i know the hose is but i couldnt tell if the wet on the pump came from the hose right beside it or ont, thanks.
the stock radiators on the chevy's from 98 to 2004 wer prone to cracking....and so i just payed 20 bucks more and got an all aluminum 4 core radiator.....did it just like you did
@8Ball20101 The vortec engine is very reliable, smooth, and powerful. It was the fit and finish that ruined this vehicle for me. Too many little problems like door switches, blower fans, radiator, brakes, rear view mirror falling off, wiper motor and on and on. All within a few months of owning it. It seemed something always needed repairing or replacing. These were not GMC's best SUV's in my opinion.
@AllThingzVideo do you have any info on 97 chevy blazer. I had many electrical problems mainly the interior lights not working unless the truck is switched on. Any ideas?
@MultiBoris2010 Not specifically. Some of these models have an interior light over ride switch. You push it to keep the interoir lights off for when you're doing things like vacuuming it out or working with the door open. Look in your owner's manual. Check the switch that dims and turns on the interior lights. Near it might be a switch to activate this function. Sometimes its not obvious what a button does or one button has several functions.
@8Ball20101 compared to any other suv of its year and size yes the best especialy to build one up chevy is legendary for hiddin power you just got to find em
Hey man thanks soooooo much for posting this vid! this helped my sooo much. i just got done takin out the radiator and it couldnt of been easier after watchin this vid. thanks alot bro!
@audioattik You're welcome. Glad I could help. Thanks to you for the sub! Have any other vehicle related questions, just shoot me a message, Id be glad to help.
I have the same problem with miscellaneous issues on my '98 Jimmy. Replaced the radiator on mine around 110k miles and now have to replace the blower motor. =P This video helped me visualize the project a little better, so thanks! Gotta agree it is a nice SUV when it's working properly though.
@illenick Haha yeah you're right. I was just tired of working on all the little problems that kept cropping up over a short period of time. Just usual wear item stuff. Once I ironed all that out, it was a nice SUV...till it got totaled out! :( Sold it for parts....
@N26R7 Follow the steering shaft down to the gear box at the front of the truck. Take the plastic cover off the steering shaft and you will see a pinch bolt that holds the shaft to the steering gear. Remove the bolt completely and then slide the shaft up off the steering gearbox splines, towards the firewall, and let it drop down out of the way after it clears the stem. Change plug, put shaft back on.
@dgholt1980 Hey Thanks for the positive feedback! Yeah, my camera is more for pictures than it is for video, thats; for sure. It pisses me off when I have to wait for it to figure out what I want it to focus on! Haha I really want a Flip as soon as I can afford one! :)
Thanks a lot, my radiator in my 03 S-10 cracked in the same spot and I'll be changing it soon. Your video has given me a lot of confidence on the replacement.
i love gm. but newer ones. run HOT 200 to 230 factory. dexcool. flush COMPLETLY. put good ole green and a 180 tstat. and poof. will run like a rapped ape
@MIketucky350 I wonder what they changed? My 94 Bravada (Oldsmobile's version of the s-10 blazer) runs so cold the temp Gage never raises above 140?
I had a crack in my rad too, I just opened up the crack with a knife, I sanded rough spots around the crack and filled it with 2 part epoxy (JB Weld) Sealed it right up! It took all of 20mins and 6 bux! It's been holding for 2 months now.
I did the water pump on this Jimmy too. A word of advice, loosen and remove the fan prior to removing the serpentine belt! There is a big brass nut that holds the fan to the front of pump assembly. There is a special tool that you can rent from Autozone that holds the fan still by sliding across the mounting bolts but it didnt work too well for me. I ended up using a pipe wrench and a hammer to break it loose! If you loosen the 4 pulley bolts, thinking the fan comes off with it, it doesn't!
I have a BRAND NEW radiator in the Jimmy which is now crashed. (see other video) Do you need a new radiator? i will sell you the one out of my Jimmy cheap! I am parting it out now. Let me know?...Thanks!
Hey i got the same exact car and i replaced my radiator. only problem is i lost one of those clamps and i cant seem to find one. I got one but its a small one and dosent fit. i need a bigger one.
I went to a GM dealership and he says the small one fits all but it dosent. whats it called and where else can i get one?
Hey..im not sure what the clips are called..."Z" clips maybe or something like that? They were all the same size. If it isn't fitting then you probably dont have the line pushed all the into the fitting? If you go to the "Help" rack at Autozone sometimes they stock packages of assorted clips for just this problem. Ask them..
Hahaha....I HAVE a Jeep...check my other vids. Both have been pretty reliable actually...I prefer driving the Jeep though...more comfortable and handles better...the Jimmy wanders and is too heavy...bad on gas!
great video! my rad cracked in the same place too....pretty sure theres aftermarket all aluminium rads now.....just wait till the heater core goes.....lol the whole dash has to come out!
Thanks....now I am having an electrical issue with it. ALL the dash light come on and then go off while you are driving down the road! Then it was hesitating the other morning after first start, the lights would come on and it lacked all power but then was fine.
Now the mileage LED is not lit up! Cant see how many miles are on it, how strange!
I have no idea where to start tracking that one down. Start under the dash and check all the connections first I guess.
I am not familiar with that exact truck. But when that happens be sure to check near the batter for corroded terminals.
There is usually a spot on the frame of all vehicles where a cluster of wires are grounded with a bolt. Sometimes they are under the battery area and that gets corroded and often overlooked.
I had plenty of room. The only thing that slowed me down was the bottom trans cooler line. I had to bend it slightly to get it to mate up with the radiator fitting which was installed at an angle in the radiator.
Other than that, the job is easy. The Vortec is the quietest motor I have ever heard! No ticks or clicks or squeaks...nothing! It just purrs and has a surprising amount of power for a V6 pulling a 4000lb SUV!!
The Jimmy has mostly fit and finish issues but mechanically is good!
Now I am changing the Pitman arm on the Jimmy. Should be easy right?, wrong!!
I had to remove the entire steering box to get the pitman arm off !! The output shaft of the gearbox where the arm attaches is directly above the front frame cradle, I mean dead center above it with no clearance.
The gearbox is on the bench now. I will finish it tonight I hope. I didnt record any video but I should of. Maybe during the re-install.
Will this work on a '98 Chevy Blazer?

the shaft that runs from the steering column to the steering box right in the way of the center plug.
