These are direct-drive washers, no belts, they utilize a coupler to join the motor and transmission. Sounds to me like a clutch, brake or tranny prob.?
My washer is doing the exact same noise...I don't think there is a belt?? You said it was the gear box...how much did that cost and did you change it yourself?
Mine starting making this noise tonight! I am so glad I found this video! How hard is it to replace the gear box? What is the cost? Can I do it myself or do I have to get a professional?
@ddismuke26 Not entirely, it requires removal of the cabinet, the bolt inside the agitator, removal of the pump, the motor, then the transmission holding bolts,
place in a vice, remove clutch assembly, remove transmission cover bolts, removal of white spin gear, to take a look to see if the neutral drain pak is broken.
