Well i have a custom config which would turn off the renderer from opengl to software mode and it runs a little better then with a framerate increase of 4/3 fps average.

Yes but u have a ping of like 150/200 but it's playable but going online can cause problems like corrupted quake 3 files (so you have to put them again on your pda) or graphical bugs.

Ehm like i said i don't have a RAM upgrade.

I use the standard 64 mb and i have only 32 mb free.

congratulations!! We N95 8GB/E90/N82 users also got a version of Quake III for S60 3rd edition, it's running pretty smoothly with bilinear and FSAA on. average fps is in the 24-28 fps mark or even higher if tweaked. Our version uses FPU and has T&L done in hardware and obviously uses Powervr for rendering. AND Oh yeah, i forgot to mention that it's also possible to connect a bluetooth mouse and keyboard and play online with other people!! You can also host games using the phone's wifi!!

There are many quake 3 arena ports for pda's and this is one of the best because, the code is optimized and i cleaned up the config file for a better framerate.

The reason why this is running so smooth is because it doesn't uses much RAM and like i said they optimized the code.

I get a better framerate because i changed the config file.

Well i changed a lot of things like texture size, sound quality, texture filter, etc.

It still looks great and it runs great.

Like I said its a port that i posted (check out my screen name its the same on the website too) on HTCGEEKS . com, but I didnt do the codeing or anything i just used bablefish on a russian site and then optimised the file myself the best that i could, but since you got it running any better do you think you could hook me up with that config file.

I wish they had a pda book for dummies because what probably seems norm for all of your just read conversations it was as if you were speaking a foreign language witch sucks cause im soon getting a axim x51v with no clue on any cool things to do with it just the basics.

I think you can change the language of your axim try a hardware reset.

But why would you change the language?

Im Dutch but i really hate it when the language is Dutch.

Fake it dosen`t run worser on diamond that is by the same and on my touch pro even smoother..so i can say that what you tell is wrong that your dell is alot better than htc

Well i saw it running on a HTC Diamond but it ran with like 5-15 fps but it can also matter how he compiled the files and which version he used.

I use a version which is lighter less buggier and it doesn`t use too much RAM.

AH yes it does work on the HTC Diamond but it runs worse than a dell axim.

This port of quake 3 arena uses Opengl.

I Dunno if it runs good on a HTC Touch Diamond try it out it doesn't harm it. (i think :P)

I got the download from htc geeks and i tweaked the config file a bit so it runs smoother.

looks quite interesting, now I do wonder:

As this port had been written for the Dell Axim family, I wonder if it uses some prop. API, or OpenGL? If it is using OpenGL as its API, would it use the build in GPU of my HTC Touch Diamond (has 16Megs of VRAM + OpenGL 1.1 support).

PLease let me know... And, perhaps tell me where you have downloaded this port.

i have this on my Dell Axim X50v and it plays on average 20-35 fps since the game wuz originally made to run best on PPC2003 (tho i have WM6) i might put up a video of it soon.

Ok nice but i use a version which is made for dell axim x51v and WM5/6/7 and it doesn't uses too much RAM also it's impossible to put WM2003 om a x51/x51v because it doesn't have a backup battery.

Yep that's because you are using version 1.1a or version 1.1b they don't work on windows mobile 5/6 without a RAM upgrade.

but my version is working on windows mobile 5/6 and i don't use a RAM upgrade i can send it to you if you want it.

I even made faster versions now.

One runs 25/35 FPS but it looks awful.

And one runs 20% better than this version and it looks the same.

The only bad thing about it is,

it doesn't have a texture filter.
