heyman said it best...ufc did more DOMESTICALLY than the wwe/wrestling did INTERNATIONALLY in 2009/2010...so...basically u might have a point, either rodney or the guys on that ufc/wrestling subject...
Triple H has said many times that he argues with Vince all the time about things and he's lost many of those arguements. I think while Triple H obviously has political clout in the back, he doesn't decide things nearly as much as you guys and other internet sites seem to think he does
my favorite quote is bob backlund's infamous: I cant hear without my glasses on! priceless. another fav is "everybodys got a price for the million dollar man"
I had a friend that I used to watch wrestling with and he was always talking over me. One day I grabbed his Final Fantasy 8 and threatened to throw it in the sewer. He cried like a little baby!
I remember pulling for Jim Powers back in the day, because he looked just like all of the super stars and usually did ALOT better in the ring than most jobbers, but of course never came out on top.
Do you guys think that wrestling will have problems pulling in new talent since now they have to compete with MMA for collegiate wrestlers and other athletes now?
I think wrestling needs jobbers. in my opinion I think they should go back to the old roots to make it grow bigger. I was watching some classic AWA and I was getting excited again while watching a show, a feeling I have not had in 10 years.
I figured that from watching the various shows. I'm a huge fan of technical wrestlers as well, just from a pure wrestling match stand point. I have been dying to ask you this question. I saw an interview where Kurt Angle said AJ Styles was the closest thing he has ever seen to shawn michaels, and considers him one of the most talented wrestlers in the world. Do you agree?
Not really. AJ Styles was/is an incredible athlete and a pretty good wrestler, but he's not perfect ; he's got issues with selling, and I'm not talking about bending in half or landing on his head, because that's great, but I mean, for example, getting his leg worked on half the match then jumping around like that never happened. Lots of people do that, and that's no excuse for keeping someone from being a main eventer, but he should have been put in that spot YEARs ago but never has
Well, really, out of those 4 the only one I'd consider a shooter is Angle because he actually competed full-time in a legit combat sport whereas everyone else didn't go beyond HS amateur wrestling, but regardless, yes, it's fair to say I think those guys are fuckin great :) But I'm sure we'll be covering all of those names and more in the upcoming Best/Worst Technical Wrestlers discussion
Yea love him or hate him michaels is the most amazing in ring performer I have ever seen. Regardless who he is in the ring with, I can't recall one bad shawn michaels match. People are not to fond of him because he has the reputation for being a dick, and if you have seen his dvd it is hard to argue that perspection. I think everyone respects him as an in ring performer though.
Oh, I could recall a couple, heh. But regardless, I think his first DVD set of mainly his 96 matches are some of the best wrestling matches ever, really. I still don't think he's been quite able to match his 1996 roided up world champion form since coming back in 2002(He's only a hair behind), but if you wouldn't include him somewhere in the latter half of a Top 10 Wrestlers Ever list you'd have to be clinically insane
Hey guys, first off I wanna say I love your show and can't wait for the next video. But one thing I've got to ask is what is your problem with Shawn Michaels? You hardly ever mention him in your discussions and when you do you either insult him or quickly nudge him off of the topic. He's easily one of the most important wrestlers in the history of the profession and in my opinion the top star of the 90s and possibly even the 2000s. His personality has also changed immensely for the better.
Firstly, thanks very much! Secondly, Michaels I don't know if I'd even put in a top 5 Most Important list, but I'm an atheist so I'd hardly say going super-Jesus-freaky is a change for the better, ha. But anyway I think he's a liar, a dick, and I think religion's obnoxious anyway so the past 8 years haven't changed my opinion on that BUT he is definitely one of the greatest wrestlers ever, esp. his 96 stuff, and I'd never deny the quality of his best in-ring work
Because MMA is much closer to pro wrestling than boxing is. MMA & pro wrestling share the exact same roots/origins anyway, but I think one of the reasons WWE caters to the younger audience now(PG!) is because they want to hook the younger viewers who are more drawn to the cartooney, childish nature of a lot of wrestling before they grow up and "graduate" to MMA, as UFC's marketing guy calls it when a wrestling fan turns to MMA. A lot of us who have are older too
It's not a bad strategy at all but that doesn't mean they have to cater SOLELY to them, which is pretty much a company-wide policy that's turning off a lot of people. As for how is MMA close to WW, well, historically they're both derived at their foundation to hook & shoot wrestling from the turn of the last centuray, which of course has it's roots in greco roman wrestling. Modernly, UFC's marketing is - at a basic level - the same ; creating conflict between characters culminating in a fight
i reckon claudio castanogli would make it in wwe, he's got the size, the look. the only bad thing is his accent and being from europe and stuff, i doubt hell get far before becoming a comedy character
I think his accent and being from Switzerland are assets, actually. For one, there's not a lot of people running around like that - let alone in wrestling - so that makes him unique, but also, he does his obnoxious, elitist, rich European character very much. He puts enough of his own unique spin on it that it seems fresh
Great questions & discussion. Keep it up guys, I would love to come on the show one day and join in on a discussion. but I'm a baby in the Wrestling Business compared to you guys, only 12 years. I came in when the nWo emerged. anyway great job!
I have to disagree that anyone in ROH can be successful in WWE. You are right that anyone can "cut it" with wrestling ability, schedule endurance, etc. But Colt Cabana was supposed to be taylor made for the WWE style, and he was fired 6 months after appearing on TV
I don't see how Cabana would be tailor-made for WWE when he's not particularly tall, not muscular & tanned, heh. That's basically ALL it came down to is that they didn't like his look, and that's the reason he was rarely put on TV and then relegated to FCW while sometimes doing that bad website video series before he was fired. He was never even given a real chance to get over and could have been a big star for them, imo, but we'll them push Low Ki better I'm sure :)
yeah, he sure doesn't have the body type, and we all know that WWE can turn a blind eye to talent without the ideal body type *cough Morishima cough cough*. What I meant was he was an entertainer first, wrestler second. The guy was simply golden with the mic. But alas, WWE just baffles me at times. We get Sydal doing everything sans Cyclorama and getting big time over, and Cabana is only seen for 2 minutes on TV and 3 on the internet.
kurt angle wrestler of the decade no way man triple h is the wrestler of the decade he is the best and deserves to be where he is.....nah just fucking with ya
On that note, Triple H doesn't deserve nearly as much hate as he gets. Yeah, maybe he used nepotism to help propel himself, but he's long since proved why he deserves to be at the top: he's one of the greatest ring generals on the planet (I'm including ROH, NJPW, and any other promotion here) and a convincing main eventer. He's consistently over with the crowd, as well.
Those things he may be - or may be at various points - but I don't think anybody wants to see him in that spot, so often(especially after 10 years of it on and off), especially over people they genuinely like more(Hardy, Michaels, etc.). He's had good years, bad years, but he's done enough damage to the rest of his fellow main eventers' credibility that he gets a lot of hate for it and I think deservedly so.
Um, what? Triple H put off Jeff Hardy HUGE at Armageddon 2007: that's why Jeff is even where he is now. He would have won the title sooner if he didn't ruin his push by violating the Wellness Policy with whatever he was on at the time.
As for Michaels, Triple H put him over too when he came back from his back injury, dropping the title to him when he was at the height of his power. Before WM25, he put over a whole bunch of guys with his WM losing streak dating back to WM19.
No he didn't. He smiled like, "This fucking guy beat me?" after getting up immediately following a lucky pin. That's not putting Hardy over. Let me see him take a swanton and a pin, then we'll talk. You can't possibly be using Shawn Michaels as an example of HHH putting someone over, are you? Big deal, Michaels was already a main eventer long before that and he put over someone once a year at WM so he doesn't seem as bad the rest of the year. That's nice but it doesn't make up for the rest
It's not so much that HHH put Jeff over at Armageddon, it's more like HHH got in on some of the buzz that was already around Jeff. Jeff was pulling big pops no matter where he went, is it any surprise HHH wanted to be in the ring with him?
Two fine candidates indeed! In fact, the first wrestling TV show I ever taped was a Superstars Of Wrestling, or maybe Wrestling Challenge, and they were both on it
Great Vid guys!! Great to see you guys back on youtube. I couldn't agree more about Kurt Angle!! Greatest wrestler of the decade hands down!! Right up there with the best ever!
To the question, did HHH win the large amount of titles because he slept with Stephanie.......i ask you this, would Macho man Randy Savage have won more if he didn't when she was underage? hmmmmmm I think if they do add in a Goldberg DVD they should show one of two Gilberg matches as well, you know, to cover the Russo Boredom/Tank abbott disaster. no no i got it, LETS DO A....drum roll please,... pepe the stick horse DVD with memorial wood glue! YESSIR
Well, I think the better question would be, "Had he come back by now?" Because Savage was already a multiple time champion in an era that didn't have people win 5 world titles in a couple years by the time he left. I think him leaving WWF in 1994 was more McMahon wanted him to retire as a commentator & Savage still wanted to wrestle. Duane Gill as Gillberg, as nice as he was when I met him, is something I'd rather forget, heh
cool,I bring a Gillberg sign ringside to every show i go to,he to me was one of the funniest spoofs ever.Good point on Savage, he was a funny at times commentator but even as a kid i didnt think he fit in.Remember Wrestlemania 9 when he came out with the "virgins" ahhhh thats more priceless than dustin---oops i mean "seven".A friend of mine tapes the Legends round table, wondering ifu all saw when Flair finally refferenced TNA on WWE programing...ok thats enough for me right now, LOVE the show!!
"Triple H will run the buisness exactly the way Vince McMahon did"
honestly... we cannot know for sure. I mean, most likely Triple H won't improve it. But I am interested how far will he try to impress everyone by running the buisness.
Positive: Triple H will promote the actually good wrestlers because he knew what it takes.
Negative: Triple H won't even work at all on any of the wrestlers and Shane may have to take over the company ANYWAYS!
Why? WWE has 11 titles as it is, with ECW's "World" title being treated as the joke it is, they barely have enough people to compete for the one title they have officially on that show, so it wouldn't really seem to accomplish much. First the show needs to mean something, then their title, then have a deep enough roster, and I don't think they qualify in any of those cases at the moment. Besides, I swear Rhino unified the belts at the last real PPV in Jan 01, didn't he?
because Vince likes to always give a little back to the fans before doing what he wants. It's a tease.
I mean don't get wrong Vince did give World Titles to Guerrero, Jericho and Mysterio and Benoit (yeah I know). So he recognizes the talent of these amazing wrestlers but at the same time he shits all over where they came from. Vince just isn't entertained by great technical wrestling, he's entertained by brawlers and sprinkle some submissions here and there.
I cant believe that i just heard the name reno riggins! when you all mentioned the postion of jobbers in 2days game i thought of reno and then his name was mentioned! i knew yall were educated in wrestling but to know reno riggins wow! love the show!
fav quote:Fully Loaded-after HHH 1st the GAME the promo with Ross, whined about being put in the bottom of the barrel after the clique sceen in MSG.Rock was on the tron and uttered this- "The rock says you whine like a baby, 'They kept me at the bottom of the barrell because i said goodby to my friends' well the Rock says they didnt keep you down at the bottom of the barrell because u said goodby to your rudi poo friends, no, they kept you down there because you ABSOLUTELY SUCK"welcome back guys
I don't see a big wrestling boom coming back any time soon. Of course there will continue to be new stars coming along on the levels of the Austins, Cenas, Rocks, etc. but I don't see a boom on a level there was in the 90s (hope i'm wrong though).
You guys were on the money with the 'TNA as WWE unemployment line' analogy!
you guys just gave me the biggest headache I've ever had in my entire life.. 14 minutes of ridiculous banter? I couldn't stand it past the first question because of how you just SLAMMED the WWE as a company.. what the fuck? Are you guys just some of those "LOL WWE IS NOT WRESTLING!!" bullshit losers? Get over it. ROH will never be up there with WWE.. ever. TNA couldn't even do it; and look where they're at now.. I don't even know what to say to you guys.. remove me as your friend right now..
If you don't like the show, don't watch it. In case you didn't know, there is, and was, a whole world of pro wrestling outside of WWE, so if you can't handle us not praising WWE as the greatest thing ever no questions asked, take your stupid comments elsewhere. Remove my dick from your mouth right now
Some yes, but those wrestlers are just yet to be greats. Benjamin IS great!! In fact, you go on wiki and see his profile, Benjamin's been named "Most underrated Wrestler" 3 YEARS IN A ROW!! the only one who broke that streak was...MVP!
So, when I read this and look at the WWE's current/past champions, I say something's fucked up!!
Is it me, or the John Cena as the fan friendly Goldberg type or Randy Orton as the uber-heel just don't work? Esp. Randy Orton- he doesn't make me hate him. He's done everything possible to draw heel heat and I just find him mildly unlikeable.
Well, you can either email us here on youtube or at wrestlngroundtable at g mail, post a comment on the front page or here in a video, or even send in/upload a video if you so choose. Any way it goes, please include your first name & location to be considered. Thank you for watching!
great to see you guys back i really enjoy hearing your views if wwe listened to you guys the product would be better by far also my pick for wrestler of the year is chris jericho he really carried raw the latter part of 2008
Well seeing you guys know what a lot fo wrestler are doing these days. Do you know what Vampiro whats been up to. I was real big fan of his and i lost rack of him after Wrestling Society X got cancelled and what do yout hink of KEvin Steen?
Vampiro I think is more or less retired. I know he's injured right now(He's been wrestling in Mexico, either for AAA or CMLL forget which one, primarily since WCW folded), but there's a documentary out on him now, I just saw it was bootlegged here on YouTube the other day but I haven't watched it yet. I was a fan of Vampiro's too, but unfortunately not a lot of people outside of Mexico feel that way. ROH, for instance, was a place he wanted to wrestle in years ago but they didn't want him.
Well i will have ot see that if you find will you send me a link. I don't think ROH could hang with vampiro but i thinks its bullshit they would hire Raven (i have nothing against Raven. One of my favs.) But not hire Vampiro it would ahe brought alot mor attraction there. I know him and Sting have problems between the two which one reason he is not working for TNA anymore.
Wrestler of the decade - it's got to be Cena - as much as i/everybody else hate him. He came into the mainstream in 2002,won the wwe championship in 2005- at WM21, main evented 3 wrestlemania's in a row (winning 2 out of 3 main events) and the royal rumble 2008 victory. On top of that, Cena has gained the push of the decade and is the most marketable wrestler today.
@ WCW Smackdown - they should of just changed the name of the show to WCW Nitro in 2001 (during the invasion angle).
My theory is that Jeff will bring him in to face Edge and Matt at some point down the line. It could add a lot to this feud since it won't just be Hardy's against Edge & Christian for 1000th time.
I have deep respect for Edge and Christian and the Hardy Boyz, but those days are done! It should just be a 4 way for a world title. (would be surprised if it was a TLC match with all four competitors)
HO LY Shit!!
WATCH!! when Christian comes in, there will be a four way TLC match for the World Championship on pay per view between Wrestlemania 25 and Summerslam 2009!!
Wrestler of the decade-HBK. After his return in 2002, he's had solid matches with HHH, Jericho, Flair and Angle. He's put people like Orton, Jericho and Cena over and has had a lot of good matches with a variety of opponenets. The only thing that could go against him is that he's only been the face on TV so at times its been repetitive, apart from that 4 week stint against Hogan.
If it isnt HBK, it has to be Austin. He's done a lot for the business, plus I cant think of anyone else deserving.
As one of those fans who quit watching for a long time after Vince got WCW, I can honestly say they can do whatever they want with the corpes and I won't be offended. The Invation angle killed all hope I ever had of the letters WCW every getting any of it's respect back.
I think wrestling will never be like it was in the Attitude Era, because WWE will be the biggest company for quite awhile.. It would be fun to see a cross promotion with another company sure. Should they do it? no. Wrester of the Decade... Austin. Not my fav but he did alot for the business.
Would Austin even be Wrestler Of The 90s, though? He was an over midcarder in WCW with a reputation of being a good worker, but he was a main eventer in the WWF for only the last couple of years, and by the time we got to 99 he was a shadow of his former wrestling self. Now, his promos/character certainly may make up for a lot of that, but again, most of those happened in the latter couple years. I think from 1990-2000, you can't go wrong with Bret Hart imo
Lesnar was a beast...if he would've stayed, he probably been Wrestler of the Decade hands down, still in the argument tho...and HHH has like 11 World Championships this decade, has to be considered but Angle is for me as well..
Triple H wouldnt be a 12 time world champion, no question in my mind. The belt seems to defer to him a few times a year and its annoying. TNA wont change its tune, and they will continue to push ex WWE stars. I loved the Dudleys shoot interview, HBK's, Scott Halls was great too. The post firing of Cryme Tyme interview was ok, worth checking out. OF COURSE there's a place for squash matches! Wrestling is in danger of being replaced by MMA imo.
man how did u get brian danielson :O plus wwe have a now permanent jobber his name is glen jacobs aka kane lol yeh kurt angle i would agree as wrestler of the decade as for hbk he missed the first 2 years lets say mcmahon can suck my balls ko get heyman back even tho i want him to take over it will be hhh to take over
Nice Bryan Danielson, and yes he is an amazing wrestler. I remember you saying that you had that idea to make him big time. Wrestler of the decade has got to be Kurt Angle. My favourite jobbers are nunzio, funaki and scotty 2 hotty. As well as kane. I wish the wrestlingroundtable would take charge of the wwe but wait would that mean more cena? Good show.
Yes, Danielson is the man & rarely ever fails to deliver an amazing match. Getting a great performer over like him, even as his is(without bells & whistles, so to speak), would be pretty easy. "As well as Kane" ouch! heh, actually, if it were up to me, Cena never would have lost the belt this whole time ;) ha. Actually, I'd be doing Cena/Jeff Hardy at WrestleMania if I couldn't get Austin/Cena. Thank you
Lol, i probably would have cut my entire arms of if i had to watch that no offence. I'm feeling anti-cena at the moment, as for kane he got in that elimimination chamber thing by not winning a match but making a phone call, WHAT THE FUCK? I thought that was Triple H's thing? Anyway jofi(kofi kingston if you're wondering) and knox in the chamber, bit baffled to be honest with that but nice to see new stars. Oh yeah about Austin, i heard his neck is in really crappy condition.
THAT'S what would make me watch the show!! And THAT's how the WWE should do it! Pass the titles around!!
but of course, they'd probably overdo it and EVERYONE gets a title reign. Of course, I am not asking for that! All I am asking is that Cena stops these bogus year log reigns, and someone come up with an new heel on smackdown! I am getting tired of Edge already!!! And I WANTED him world champion a year ago!!
I think they need to get rid of all these old guys ,like taker, hbk and etc They are as dull as Ricky Ortiz. I think Benjamin should be in the main event because he is wwe's best wrestler by some distance. Edge has had too many world tile reigns in my opinion and its getting boring now. And wwe are thrusting Cena down our throat and trying to make us interested in him, but he justs seems to frustrate more people than interest him. I wish cena would just stop being constantly in the main event.
not just OLD GUYS because god knows Regal and Finlay are not really young themselves.
I get rid of all the old superstars who HAD their fun, who WERE World Heavyweight Champions
who WE KNOW will win a match!
wrestlers who DID NOT get a world title reign has to stay! Especially Regal! He's been around the block for so many years, it will be a damn shame to see him leave without a World title to his credit!
Yeah but regal's time is gone and it would feel a bit desperate from wwe, i would love to see regal as world champ because he is such a good worker. But it would feel pointless.
Well he did have a chance when he was a crazy GM, last year. But he got caught taking perform enhancers, but then again its not like most of wwe's main eventers don't get away with it.
Regal deserves a reign but wwe won't give it to him.
I try to look forward to something interesting from that wasteland of a wrestling company. So far the BIGGEST interest to me was Evan Bourne. Too bad he messed himself up on that plancha.
I plan to quit after Regal becomes world champion.
and let me empahsize (pointing to a tv w/o a cable) no cable, (roof) not satitlite...
(phone line )cheap internet access
right now I am in a college dorm w/0 a TV!!So yeah I am stuck watching youtube here (VA), or smackdown @ home (CA)
Bad Luck, i bet the videos run real slow, and there is no point of waiting for something that may or may not happen, just check the ppv results and if its that bad check the tv results to see if regal is no.1 contender. Evan Bourne or Matt sydal was much better in ROH in my opinion but still if wwe market him right they got a big star there. Also i waited for Shelton Benjamin to be thrusted into the main event and still they have not done it.
yep! My twin brohter thought so too...before they hd Benjamin die his hair gold (WTF???)
Like I said a hundred times, and several black fans think so too, the WWE's racist in terms of promoting black stars. But overall, the WWE would only promote Caucasian Americans I say americans because even a few white people are nto getting a push..
People are so disrespectful of Vince. They seem to forget that Vince is a fucking wrestling god. Funny how they say Vince is what's wrong with WWE, but they still say after he's gone the company will remain the same.
I'm glad the black guy wasn't being a hater when it came to HHH. So many other people who speak HHH's name have bad things to say and try to invalidate him, but e is great.
ok, im not here to persuade or nothing, nor will i ignore vince'c contribution to wrestling. but the bad he has done almost overshadows the good he's done( i.e, screwing bret, screwing hogan, flair, buying all the terriories, revealing that wrestling wasn't real so he wouldn't have to pay taxes, cover up on steriods, buying wcw, thus taking away valid compition and making the genre stale, and putting the belt on triple h over and over again instend of building new stars)
I didn't want to be persuaded, I just was looking for a little understanding. I hear a lot of people talk about how they hate him and I never knew why
I am so sick of hearing this crap about Vince revealing wrestling isn't real so as he wouldn't have to pay taxes. Vince revealed wrestling wasn't real because how much longer could he go insulting the audiences intelligence by kayfabing everything. And why is revealing wrestling isn't real a bad thing?? I wouldn't watch wrestling if I was being tricked into believing it and hardly anyone else would watch it either.
thats not the point. the fact is it was an honered code in the old days, the owners of the terriroies kept such a secret. not only that, for a time people actually believed wrestling was real..if you look at it now, yeah it's obvious that all of it is staged and some time rehearsed, but back then there was no raw, they did shows like regular boxing matches and shit, so rarely anybody in the era before vince knew of it's kayfabe and such
Stop being silly ; McMahon's a promoter, and while he certainly embraced the "We're fake!" stance as a promotional tactic AFTER the fact, don't kid yourself that underneath his snake skin he's still an old carny who didn't want to pay more taxes in NJ. This is the guy who told David Schultz to slap John Stostle to prove it's not 'fake" & then denied it! Vince insults our intelligence all the time! See his Costas interviews, heh. That said, I don't think revealing stuff is a "bad thing" either
I passionately hate Vince because he doesn't care anymore about inring performance or the well being of EVERY SINGLE WRESTLER
all he cares about isgetting some people to strut their stuff, and pay light weights to get their asses kicked by heavyweights.
as well as poke fun at racial stereotypes like he did to the Mexicools and Cryme Tyme all of whom were TERRIFFIC in ring perfomrers, and all of whom don't and won't get a title belt around their waste!
What's so funny about it? By it "will remain the same," I didn't mean that as a GOOD thing. The whole theme of this show since the beginning was expressing what needs to improve! Wait, I forgot Vince is a wrestling god, silly me. Way to hide your true feelings, heh. Oh yeah, "the black guy" has a name, and Rodney's been as big a "hater" of HHH as any of the rest of us. He was great, years ago, but that time has long past, and McMahon's vision along with it
I didn't mean that to be disrespectful, I just didn't know his name.
But Rodney might not like HHH, but he still gave credit where it was due. He said that HHH would still have many title reigns if it wasn't for the personal connections. He might be past his prime, who isn't? Sting, Angle, Nash, Undertaker, a lot of people
Of course they're trained the same way. Maybe not at the beginning when they start out at wrestling school in whatever area they might be(even though it won't be as drastic a difference as say training in Mexico or Japan, differences as minor as their footing while running the ropes, etc.), but what we mean is once you enter developmental, they are re-trained to fit WWE's specific image of performance. And if MMA & wrestling are totally different, then why can each one do the other's moves?
Should Edge be a candidate for Wrestler of the Decade? My favorite jobbers are the Mulkeys and Rocky King. (Yep, I'm showing my age.) It would also be nice for the WWE to have talent exchanges like they did in the territorial era, but I'm not sure it will work since history has told us different. Therefore, I don't see WWE co-promoting with other companies.
I'm sure a lot of people would think Edge is performer of the decade. I think those people are insane, heh, because he wouldn't even make my top 10, but they could make a case. The reason I phrased that WWE should do talent exchanges "in a perfect world," because you & I know full well WWE would never 'lower' themselves to such an arrangement while they're more or less the only game in town. They'll make a developmental(FCW, OVW), but nothing more.
Something which struck me from Raw a couple of months back was Shane saying "I will watch while you run this company into the ground" to Stephanie. I find it rather scary that Stephanie and HHH could be in charge after McMahon, coz I feel WWE will indeed run into the ground if they dont reinvent themselves with MMA on the rise, which those 2 wont ever do.
Yes, and what people misinterpret about me saying they need to change with the times in a UFC world is...I don't mean they have to turn in to an American version of UWFI or anything, but to make themselves a little more sports-like, more athletically-oriented. See : Promotion for Bret/HBK at WM12 in 96, Brock/Rock at SummerSlam 2002, things more along those lines as opposed to the same old segments with the same old sports entertainment crap. Update their image.
watching this two years later and Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan) is the fucking World Heavyweight Champion!

Triple H has said many times that he argues with Vince all the time about things and he's lost many of those arguements. I think while Triple H obviously has political clout in the back, he doesn't decide things nearly as much as you guys and other internet sites seem to think he does

Do you agree?
sfields425 2 years ago
Lots of people do that, and that's no excuse for keeping someone from being a main eventer, but he should have been put in that spot YEARs ago but never has
-E
WrestlingRoundtable 2 years ago
Eric is it fair to say that you are a huge fan of the shooters, ala Danielson, Bret Hart, Angle, and he who we do not speak of...lol?
sfields425 2 years ago
Well, really, out of those 4 the only one I'd consider a shooter is Angle because he actually competed full-time in a legit combat sport whereas everyone else didn't go beyond HS amateur wrestling, but regardless, yes, it's fair to say I think those guys are fuckin great :) But I'm sure we'll be covering all of those names and more in the upcoming Best/Worst Technical Wrestlers discussion
-E, Wrestling Roundtable
WrestlingRoundtable 2 years ago
Yea love him or hate him michaels is the most amazing in ring performer I have ever seen. Regardless who he is in the ring with, I can't recall one bad shawn michaels match. People are not to fond of him because he has the reputation for being a dick, and if you have seen his dvd it is hard to argue that perspection. I think everyone respects him as an in ring performer though.
sfields425 2 years ago
Oh, I could recall a couple, heh. But regardless, I think his first DVD set of mainly his 96 matches are some of the best wrestling matches ever, really. I still don't think he's been quite able to match his 1996 roided up world champion form since coming back in 2002(He's only a hair behind), but if you wouldn't include him somewhere in the latter half of a Top 10 Wrestlers Ever list you'd have to be clinically insane
-E, Wrestling Roundtable
WrestlingRoundtable 2 years ago
Hey guys, first off I wanna say I love your show and can't wait for the next video. But one thing I've got to ask is what is your problem with Shawn Michaels? You hardly ever mention him in your discussions and when you do you either insult him or quickly nudge him off of the topic. He's easily one of the most important wrestlers in the history of the profession and in my opinion the top star of the 90s and possibly even the 2000s. His personality has also changed immensely for the better.
CultOfPersonality1 2 years ago
Firstly, thanks very much! Secondly, Michaels I don't know if I'd even put in a top 5 Most Important list, but I'm an atheist so I'd hardly say going super-Jesus-freaky is a change for the better, ha. But anyway I think he's a liar, a dick, and I think religion's obnoxious anyway so the past 8 years haven't changed my opinion on that BUT he is definitely one of the greatest wrestlers ever, esp. his 96 stuff, and I'd never deny the quality of his best in-ring work

"the rise of UFC and MMA"
truth be told....even IF MMA conquers all, the WWE, even pro wrestling itself, will still exist.
I mean, if boxing, which is REAL, didn't destroy pro wrestling, how can MMA could?
RandomMindz 2 years ago
Because MMA is much closer to pro wrestling than boxing is. MMA & pro wrestling share the exact same roots/origins anyway, but I think one of the reasons WWE caters to the younger audience now(PG!) is because they want to hook the younger viewers who are more drawn to the cartooney, childish nature of a lot of wrestling before they grow up and "graduate" to MMA, as UFC's marketing guy calls it when a wrestling fan turns to MMA. A lot of us who have are older too
-E, Wrestling Roundtable
WrestlingRoundtable 2 years ago
Sad to say, hooking kids while they are young is a good strategy...but what I hate is that they make too much focus on it!
I said it before, and I'll say it again...I am pretty damn sure by now kids know what teh color of blood is! WTF turn black and white???
and I hate to ask...but on what level(s) is MMA much closer to WWE?
RandomMindz 2 years ago
It's not a bad strategy at all but that doesn't mean they have to cater SOLELY to them, which is pretty much a company-wide policy that's turning off a lot of people. As for how is MMA close to WW, well, historically they're both derived at their foundation to hook & shoot wrestling from the turn of the last centuray, which of course has it's roots in greco roman wrestling. Modernly, UFC's marketing is - at a basic level - the same ; creating conflict between characters culminating in a fight
-E
WrestlingRoundtable 2 years ago
"creating conflict between characters..."
is that the same way boxing promoters do too?
And in that case...is MMA going against both pro wrestling and boxing at the same time? If not, why not?

i reckon claudio castanogli would make it in wwe, he's got the size, the look. the only bad thing is his accent and being from europe and stuff, i doubt hell get far before becoming a comedy character
PurpleGiraffePG 2 years ago
I think his accent and being from Switzerland are assets, actually. For one, there's not a lot of people running around like that - let alone in wrestling - so that makes him unique, but also, he does his obnoxious, elitist, rich European character very much. He puts enough of his own unique spin on it that it seems fresh

I have to disagree that anyone in ROH can be successful in WWE. You are right that anyone can "cut it" with wrestling ability, schedule endurance, etc. But Colt Cabana was supposed to be taylor made for the WWE style, and he was fired 6 months after appearing on TV
flacohombre 2 years ago
I don't see how Cabana would be tailor-made for WWE when he's not particularly tall, not muscular & tanned, heh. That's basically ALL it came down to is that they didn't like his look, and that's the reason he was rarely put on TV and then relegated to FCW while sometimes doing that bad website video series before he was fired. He was never even given a real chance to get over and could have been a big star for them, imo, but we'll them push Low Ki better I'm sure :)
-E
WrestlingRoundtable 2 years ago
yeah, he sure doesn't have the body type, and we all know that WWE can turn a blind eye to talent without the ideal body type *cough Morishima cough cough*.

Psychoblue 2 years ago 4
Those things he may be - or may be at various points - but I don't think anybody wants to see him in that spot, so often(especially after 10 years of it on and off), especially over people they genuinely like more(Hardy, Michaels, etc.). He's had good years, bad years, but he's done enough damage to the rest of his fellow main eventers' credibility that he gets a lot of hate for it and I think deservedly so.
-E, Wrestling Roundtable
WrestlingRoundtable 2 years ago
Psychoblue 2 years ago
No he didn't. He smiled like, "This fucking guy beat me?" after getting up immediately following a lucky pin. That's not putting Hardy over. Let me see him take a swanton and a pin, then we'll talk. You can't possibly be using Shawn Michaels as an example of HHH putting someone over, are you? Big deal, Michaels was already a main eventer long before that and he put over someone once a year at WM so he doesn't seem as bad the rest of the year. That's nice but it doesn't make up for the rest
-E
WrestlingRoundtable 2 years ago
It's not so much that HHH put Jeff over at Armageddon, it's more like HHH got in on some of the buzz that was already around Jeff. Jeff was pulling big pops no matter where he went, is it any surprise HHH wanted to be in the ring with him?

I GOT A GREATTTT follow up question:
To the question, did HHH win the large amount of titles because he slept with Stephanie.......i ask you this, would Macho man Randy Savage have won more if he didn't when she was underage? hmmmmmm I think if they do add in a Goldberg DVD they should show one of two Gilberg matches as well, you know, to cover the Russo Boredom/Tank abbott disaster. no no i got it, LETS DO A....drum roll please,... pepe the stick horse DVD with memorial wood glue! YESSIR
redfury0156 3 years ago
Well, I think the better question would be, "Had he come back by now?" Because Savage was already a multiple time champion in an era that didn't have people win 5 world titles in a couple years by the time he left. I think him leaving WWF in 1994 was more McMahon wanted him to retire as a commentator & Savage still wanted to wrestle. Duane Gill as Gillberg, as nice as he was when I met him, is something I'd rather forget, heh

honestly... we cannot know for sure.

This was a suggestion I made a while back...Should ECW resurrect the world Tv title?
rasslinfan420 3 years ago

If you ask me, the WWE should bring back the Cruiserweight title
I am getting tired of seeing lightweights losing to heavyweights, and Mysterio beating the heayweights!
Although, the stars weren't that great, the cruiserweight division really gave the light weights something to do, and brought some drama.
I would like to know WHY the hell would they get rid of the title in the first place??
How bs is that??
RandomMindz 3 years ago
because Vince has a hard on for big guys. its that simple
7Rayo13 3 years ago
then WHY hire light weights in the first place????
RandomMindz 3 years ago
because Vince likes to always give a little back to the fans before doing what he wants.

VeNeM999 3 years ago
Austin only wrestled for 2 or 3 years during this decade. If we're talking about the 90's then he takes it but I wouldn't give him this one.

yea, that kinda dawned on me after i posted that. this decade I would say Kurt Angle
VeNeM999 3 years ago
Would Austin even be Wrestler Of The 90s, though? He was an over midcarder in WCW with a reputation of being a good worker, but he was a main eventer in the WWF for only the last couple of years, and by the time we got to 99 he was a shadow of his former wrestling self. Now, his promos/character certainly may make up for a lot of that, but again, most of those happened in the latter couple years. I think from 1990-2000, you can't go wrong with Bret Hart imo

My candidates for Wrestler of the Decade (2000-2010 of course)
John Cena - overrated bastard!!
Y2J - because I like his skills both on the mic and in the ring.
HBK - like u guys said, the comeback story
Brock Lesnar - like we have an excuse to say no???
Kurt Angle - Oo haven't seen him for awhile since his last match against Rey on Smackdown.
Undertaker - *shrug* looks good on paper
for me, it's a tie between Lesnar and Angle.
RandomMindz 3 years ago

Wrestling is in danger of being replaced by MMA imo.

roh1234 3 years ago
Nice Bryan Danielson, and yes he is an amazing wrestler. I remember you saying that you had that idea to make him big time. Wrestler of the decade has got to be Kurt Angle. My favourite jobbers are nunzio, funaki and scotty 2 hotty. As well as kane. I wish the wrestlingroundtable would take charge of the wwe but wait would that mean more cena? Good show.
roh1234 3 years ago 2

Oh yeah about Austin, i heard his neck is in really crappy condition.
roh1234 3 years ago
yeah, and why the fuck KOFI??
Get William Regal!! Especially if Kane's gonna be in the chamber anyways!!
RandomMindz 3 years ago
I couldn't care what wwe do. If they put someone who has never been world champ in a match for the world title, it interests me.
roh1234 3 years ago
THAT'S what would make me watch the show!! And THAT's how the WWE should do it! Pass the titles around!!
but of course, they'd probably overdo it and EVERYONE gets a title reign. Of course, I am not asking for that! All I am asking is that Cena stops these bogus year log reigns, and someone come up with an new heel on smackdown! I am getting tired of Edge already!!! And I WANTED him world champion a year ago!!
RandomMindz 3 years ago
I think they need to get rid of all these old guys ,like taker, hbk and etc They are as dull as Ricky Ortiz. I think Benjamin should be in the main event because he is wwe's best wrestler by some distance. Edge has had too many world tile reigns in my opinion and its getting boring now. And wwe are thrusting Cena down our throat and trying to make us interested in him, but he justs seems to frustrate more people than interest him. I wish cena would just stop being constantly in the main event.
roh1234 3 years ago
not just OLD GUYS because god knows Regal and Finlay are not really young themselves.
RandomMindz 3 years ago
Yeah but regal's time is gone and it would feel a bit desperate from wwe, i would love to see regal as world champ because he is such a good worker. But it would feel pointless.
roh1234 3 years ago
He STILL deerves it! Pointless or not, at least he'd have something that'll make his name worthwhile to here in the pro wrestling industry!
At least ONE reign for Regal! That's all I ask!
but yeah, the WWE wouldn't do it! freakin jackoffs
RandomMindz 3 years ago
Well he did have a chance when he was a crazy GM, last year. But he got caught taking perform enhancers, but then again its not like most of wwe's main eventers don't get away with it.
Regal deserves a reign but wwe won't give it to him.
roh1234 3 years ago
nope, but he's not released yet!
He just had an IC reign (bogus I know), and he got screwed from a Chamber match.
^^ if we're lucky, he'd win MITB at wrestlemania
-_- if not, and he's released, the WWE has lost a dedicated fan!!
RandomMindz 3 years ago
What you still watch the crap wwe put on? wow you really should stop watching. Regal won't win MITB, i think he's scared of heights too.
roh1234 3 years ago
*shrug*
I try to look forward to something interesting from that wasteland of a wrestling company. So far the BIGGEST interest to me was Evan Bourne. Too bad he messed himself up on that plancha.
I plan to quit after Regal becomes world champion.
and let me empahsize (pointing to a tv w/o a cable) no cable, (roof) not satitlite...
(phone line )cheap internet access
right now I am in a college dorm w/0 a TV!!So yeah I am stuck watching youtube here (VA), or smackdown @ home (CA)
RandomMindz 3 years ago
Bad Luck, i bet the videos run real slow, and there is no point of waiting for something that may or may not happen, just check the ppv results and if its that bad check the tv results to see if regal is no.1 contender. Evan Bourne or Matt sydal was much better in ROH in my opinion but still if wwe market him right they got a big star there. Also i waited for Shelton Benjamin to be thrusted into the main event and still they have not done it.
roh1234 3 years ago
Right William Regal?
RandomMindz 3 years ago
I think his current gimmick could easily be thrusted to main event, cocky youngster who wants the world title. and you have a twin brother? wow.
Yep wwe are rascist, look at r-truth, his gimmick is basicallly the same as cena before cena had it(k-kwik) and somehow it wasn't good enough.
roh1234 3 years ago
People are so disrespectful of Vince. They seem to forget that Vince is a fucking wrestling god. Funny how they say Vince is what's wrong with WWE, but they still say after he's gone the company will remain the same.
I'm glad the black guy wasn't being a hater when it came to HHH. So many other people who speak HHH's name have bad things to say and try to invalidate him, but e is great.
jaydub8907 3 years ago
while vince has done more then enough for the wrestling industry, he has done so much more harm to it as well, but thats a whole other story
thedrifter 3 years ago
I'm just going to put it like this: Vince IS wrestling.
But please, don't stop there. Tell me more, enlighten me.
jaydub8907 3 years ago
ok, im not here to persuade or nothing, nor will i ignore vince'c contribution to wrestling. but the bad he has done almost overshadows the good he's done( i.e, screwing bret, screwing hogan, flair, buying all the terriories, revealing that wrestling wasn't real so he wouldn't have to pay taxes, cover up on steriods, buying wcw, thus taking away valid compition and making the genre stale, and putting the belt on triple h over and over again instend of building new stars)
thedrifter 3 years ago
I didn't want to be persuaded, I just was looking for a little understanding. I hear a lot of people talk about how they hate him and I never knew why
jaydub8907 3 years ago
I am so sick of hearing this crap about Vince revealing wrestling isn't real so as he wouldn't have to pay taxes. Vince revealed wrestling wasn't real because how much longer could he go insulting the audiences intelligence by kayfabing everything. And why is revealing wrestling isn't real a bad thing?? I wouldn't watch wrestling if I was being tricked into believing it and hardly anyone else would watch it either.
thenegotiator3 3 years ago
thats not the point. the fact is it was an honered code in the old days, the owners of the terriroies kept such a secret. not only that, for a time people actually believed wrestling was real..if you look at it now, yeah it's obvious that all of it is staged and some time rehearsed, but back then there was no raw, they did shows like regular boxing matches and shit, so rarely anybody in the era before vince knew of it's kayfabe and such
thedrifter 3 years ago

WWF was the bomb!!!
WWE is bs!!
RandomMindz 3 years ago
What's so funny about it? By it "will remain the same," I didn't mean that as a GOOD thing. The whole theme of this show since the beginning was expressing what needs to improve! Wait, I forgot Vince is a wrestling god, silly me. Way to hide your true feelings, heh. Oh yeah, "the black guy" has a name, and Rodney's been as big a "hater" of HHH as any of the rest of us. He was great, years ago, but that time has long past, and McMahon's vision along with it
-E, Wrestling Roundtable
WrestlingRoundtable 3 years ago
I didn't mean that to be disrespectful, I just didn't know his name.
But Rodney might not like HHH, but he still gave credit where it was due. He said that HHH would still have many title reigns if it wasn't for the personal connections. He might be past his prime, who isn't? Sting, Angle, Nash, Undertaker, a lot of people
jaydub8907 3 years ago
Wrestlers arent' trained the same way, well the fans are a lot different from past eras.
UFC, MMA, and pro wrestling are two totally different things. I'm not into MMA, not into the bloody brutality and all of that
jaydub8907 3 years ago

Amr3561 3 years ago
I think he should.
Frank15982 3 years ago
I'm sure a lot of people would think Edge is performer of the decade. I think those people are insane, heh, because he wouldn't even make my top 10, but they could make a case. The reason I phrased that WWE should do talent exchanges "in a perfect world," because you & I know full well WWE would never 'lower' themselves to such an arrangement while they're more or less the only game in town. They'll make a developmental(FCW, OVW), but nothing more.

Something which struck me from Raw a couple of months back was Shane saying "I will watch while you run this company into the ground" to Stephanie. I find it rather scary that Stephanie and HHH could be in charge after McMahon, coz I feel WWE will indeed run into the ground if they dont reinvent themselves with MMA on the rise, which those 2 wont ever do.
ish90an 3 years ago
Yes, and what people misinterpret about me saying they need to change with the times in a UFC world is...I don't mean they have to turn in to an American version of UWFI or anything, but to make themselves a little more sports-like, more athletically-oriented. See : Promotion for Bret/HBK at WM12 in 96, Brock/Rock at SummerSlam 2002, things more along those lines as opposed to the same old segments with the same old sports entertainment crap. Update their image.
