  • Incredible tone from Barry Bailey. So fucking smooth.

  • I have loved this tune since I was a teen with several imaginary lovers I'm sure lol !

  • Old time rocker here. Here is an interesting fact going back to the '70's turntable days. If you speed up this tune say about 10-15%, it sounds exactly like Fleetwood Mac. You will think this song was sung by Stevie Nicks.

  • It should have been the Anthem of Teenage Boys (and a bunch of lonely older guys...)

  • Thank you for this, I always loved ARS. :-) So glad I grew up in the 70s. 75-78 rocked!!! High school and all the angst.

  • the cool-ness never fades

  • southern born southern bred be that way til the day im dead

  • GREAAAATTTT Memories to this tune. I'm blushing...but i really did up the 80's.

  • Great song...brings back a lot of good times

  • That Smell was about drugs. This is about left brain right hand. In an interview many years ago R. Van Zandt was asked who the best singer is and he said Ronnie Hammond and ARS. rip Ronnie and Ronnie

  • Great stuff no doubt. Easy Rock, is what I call it. It was all about getting your girl turned on to this tune. Right? It's all gone now. Thanks for posting this video guys.

  • This is a great song, but its nothing more than a rip-off of Lynyrd Skynyrds 1977 "That Smell." Same melody, guitar sounds, verse structure...everything. Dont believe me? Listen to them back to back...

  • @resqfireman1 Bull shit. You must be on crack.

  • @jameswhammond3 And you must be an idiot if you cant hear the similiarities. And know nothing about music. Doesnt take a genius to hear that this is the same melody, just slowed down. Even the solo is similiar to what Steve Gaines played. Go argue with someone as dumb as you.

  • Next stop...Baker street..then Year of the cat

  • Johnson and Johnson contemplated buying the rights to this song to open other avenues to one of the company's long term products that had seen some fallout in sales-Vaseline!! lol

  • Does anyone know if this concert is available on DVD or video? Also is that JR Cobb on the right?

  • CLASSIC! I think that spells it out. nuff said!

  • When was this released as a single? I love it!

  • Damn... I was a kid was this song came out. I was born ten years too soon. I so relate to this era!!!!!!

  • I got the live LP with "Tara's Theme" great album.....

  • I remember 78' and 79' at parties someone would always have a song by these guys playing in background...good job guys.

  • I remember seeing them in Chalmette, La back in the day.

  • great song great grup

  • I already have one on my mind, and that is all she will ever be sadly but true.

  • dude, I appreciated this very much...

  • Ronnie Hammond was the best. I loved these guys. Such class and talent.

  • I love this song

  • One of the best bands to come out of the 70's hands down !!! These guys made magic!!! All I can say is wow!!! Just like I said back when I first heard them.

  • These guys are so underated...

This tune and So Into You! Def over the top!

    BRing romance back to music!

  • @biggrog7 spooky is my favorite, but gawd dam i love this band.

  • looks like scott stapp

  • I had a front row seat to see them... does Barry ever show emotion, let alone smile?

  • I appreciate them. this is real music!!!

  • There were some crappy hits during this era, but this band was tight, had good hooks and flat out bled jazz and blues into the mainstream........good stuff!!!

  • ARS is excellent. they listen to crap these days cuz that's all thats offered to them. but back in the day we had bands like this. and a large variety of really good bands. Chicago, Eagles, Santana, Peter Frampton...and too many to mention. But what intrigues me is the subject matter of ARS in the songwriting ... Imaginary lover and Spooky. ooookay. that's interesting. what are they into>? Great band though

  • What a bunch of jerk offs!

  • now that it's achieved Classic status, we don't laugh behind our hands like we did in high school, listening to this guy talk about his imaginary lover who always gave him satisfaction. Our high school banned it and for some reason refused to explain why - which made it all the funnier!

  • Does anyone know what he says at the last of the song...I get the I have imagined part...but I wish I could make out what he closes it with....???

  • RIP Ronnie Hammond, and all the other Southern Rock "Brothers of the Road" who left us too soon: Danny Joe Brown and Duane Roland of Molly Hatchet, the Caldwell brothers of Marshall Tucker, Jakson Spires of Blackfoot, damn near all of Skynyrd's best known members, Berry & Duane from the Allmans, Hughie Thomasson of Skynyrd and the Outlaws, Billy Jones of the Outlaws . . . someone should do a tribute video for all the deceased Southern Rockers. Raise the Stars 'n' Bars high!!!

  • Ronnie Hammond November 10,1950-March 14,2011.

  • distinctive voice, and a very underrated band; better than Skynyrd if you ask me.

  • I totally agree! The late sixties and seventies where the best. On the African American, Motown was priceless. " Pull up your pants!

  • @jrcurtis1955 pants on the ground pants on the ground lookin like fool pants on the ground

  • good

  • Peace Ronnie we love you!!

  • They don't make them like this anymore. Seems they go more for style than substance

  • R.I.P Ronnie!

  • Yeah Ronnie had the hair going for him and he had the voice. One of the best 70's groups ever.

  • RIP Ronnie you brought me so many great memories with your music during my young adult years.

  • just great! great! great!

  • R.I.P. Richard Hammond.

would of been coool to meet him, my girlfriends uncle.

  • Thanks for download this video in HQ, I am looking for Spooky in HQ, can you tell me anybody were can I find it ??

  • I loved the 70's

  • Actually mister I was just turned down by my imaginary lover, so you stand corrected!!

  • Too bad nobody has informed this gentleman that he does not have to settle for an imaginary lover.Thank God for the invention of blow-up dolls!!

  • I still have this on a cassette I bought back in the 70s. Back then I could identify with this song. I had nobody, so I invented an imaginary girlfriend and named her I. Madge N. Airy. No kidding.

  • I was at this show in '79.

  • when i was a kid, i loved this song and still do. i had no idea what it meant, but soon discovered as did we all. lol. and don`t pretened you didn`t and still do. lmao.

  • Very good, spooky song!!

  • update to Ronnie Hammond status. Ronnie is no longer singing with ARS, but left several years ago to join Voices of Rock and Andy Anderson has now taken over the lead singer responsibilities. Not the same as Ronnie but still passable. Ronnie Hammond is truly one of the great voices of the southern rock genre.

  • I don't think Mr Hammond has died quite yet. He was shot by the police during a scuffle but as far as I know they are on tour and Mr Hammond is sounding as fine if not better than ever.

  • uo uo yeah ,great song forever

  • This was my theme song since when I was a student at MacLay I use to strike out with all girls and I did up to graduation.

  • When this song came out, my buddy and I were drinking beers and laughing one nite and I asked him, "what do you think there singing about? my buddy just grinned at me. After he finally told me, we drank another six pack and fell all about the place laughing our ass's off...

  • He Ha!!

  • Better than "Beat It" by M. Jackson.

  • I saw ARS in concert this weekend. The guy in this video is definately not the lead singer of the band touring now. Why can't guys my age be sexy like him?

  • Comment removed

  • @3asal1 because most guys nowadays listen to crap like hiphop

and house. everybody wants djs and rappers. Nobody appreciates good

music like this anymore. You have to look very good to find the guys that

worship these musical 70s we all know and love!

  • Comment removed

  • @manhattenhero I find it's hard as hell to find girls that don't worship the garbage they call music put out by the culture creators for people my age, 23. Music industry has always been fucked up, just talk to tom petty, but now it's just beyond all redemption. Even harder to find a girl my age into classic rock or other stuff I like. Bluegrass, blues, classical, it's just not cool I guess. Being an individual can be a pain in the ass in so many ways.

  • @tnix80 Don't give up, bro. Somewhere out there is a girl who hates hip hop and rap and screamo crap and digs the sweet 70's sounds.Find a classic rock concert and go. No telling what you'll find! Good luck!

  • @manhattenhero hiphop brought me here

  • @3asal1 The original Lead Vocalist Ronnie Hammond died some time ago not sure of the year though.

  • Love this!! Great HD...thanks for sharing!!

  • This song is a great song to smoke and drink too......

  • I can't listen to these guys enough! I wish they would re-unite!

  • The cassiest song about masturbation ever written.

  • This guy has the voice!

  • Gotta love a bit of "ARS" lol.

  • That was smooth!

  • I always thought it was "imagine every lover"!

  • @javajen19 lmao

  • these guys are ARS...........

the currenrt configuration should watch this video and see what they are susposed to sound like........

    Ronnie, JR, Budfdie, Paul, Dean.......

without these guys there wouls be no ARS

The band of today is like 2% milk.

Come on Dean I know you remember how to do it right...... FIX IT PLEASE

  • @fenderprecision72 LOL you got that right...I've always loved ARS but I went to see them in Seneca, S.C. last month and I COULDN'T BELIEVE what I was seeing or hearing! It didn't sound like ARS much at all and learned most of the ones now are not the originals. I did however, see them in Jax., Fl. a some years back and they sounded then just like always. I even got to talk to the band members and get autographs on the break. They were very personable and nice.

  • what is Ronnie saying at 3:03??? 'get out the water, Stevie' ??? i've been trying to figure that out for years!! ohhhh! and i've got a blond Rick bass like Paul!!! they're the best!!

  • I believe it's "You ought to see.."

  • @RICKOBEAR But I can see you (Imaginary Lover)!

  • @RICKOBEAR sure having a blast

  • somebody said that Ronnie got shot. was that a rumor???

  • He got shot in the stomach or something like that and that was when he quit singing. That was like a few years ago.

  • heyyyyyyyyyyyy Ronnie:

to my wife and friend Judy..........."somebody remember that"""""""""""

  • @eddiewharra yes that was ronnie's dedication on a album. not sure which one was 'either rock and roll alternative ' or champange jam.

  • Sigmund Freud would be really proud of these boys lol. This is a great tune. I liked it when I was a kid and had no idea what in world they were talking about. It's just great music.

  • I was 18 years old and it seem like yesterday, forever stuck on the 70's.

  • Takes me back to '78, feathered hair and all! The best!!

  • cool as hell!!!

  • What is this, Midnight Special or Kirshner's Rock Concert ?

  • Comment removed

  • don't make 'em like this anymore.

  • You are so right! I know it was in my elementary and middle school days, but the best music was the 70s and 80s in my opinion.

  • @bikdav I agree. I was born in the late 70s, but I wish I was a teen during the 70s or early 80s.

  • @foppa123 They most certainly don't

    I kinda miss those days

  • LOVE this song!!! Thanks for posting!!

  • Ohh, cool memories. Thats what I have right now, but look forward to meeting a nice, decent, honest guy some day, so I can forget the past and have a real lover who treats me right.

  • I know exactly what you mean, hope it happens for both of us and so many other lonely people out there too! xo

  • First you need to permanently get rid of your ex, and survive cancer. I'm nice and honest, but I can't afford to treat you right (as you deserve), lol. Hope you're well 3dogs
