hi man i working on a mac and i just put logic on my mac my problem is in the plugin in folder ultrabeat and all other plugins are in the folder but not in the program can you help me out with finding a way to put all the plugins in the programs please
I wish I had Pro, I'm running express. But my imac g5 can barely handle express as it is. System overloads everywhere. Anyways, I have a few questions. When I Bounce down, sometimes it bounces a portion of the song not the whole cycle I selected. Also, when I have an arp going on in the song it renders it without it. Arps are a pain as it is in logic, but now after all my headaches it doesn't bounce? Lame. And my MIDI controller isn't connecting to logic . Help? LOL
SFLogicNinja keep it up brother, you folks on here with the DIY, instructables etc are so inspiring, I'm learning blues harp, picking my guitar back up after a decade in the closet, and now making beats in logic and throwing around hotkeys like I actually know something.
FOR SALE: $100 WAVES Complete V7 with over 300 Waves plugins AND comes with: Brainworks Complete, Abbey Road Brilliance Pack, PCM Native Reverb, SPL Plugin Native Complete, and Soundtoys Native Complete. (Look these packages up if you're not familiar. They're not cheap!) Hit me up.
whenever i load my own sample in it doesn't sound right because of the "pitch" slider on osc 2 on the bottom middle of the screen. is there any way to bypass the pitch control? i just want to use it as a trigger, not model the sound coming out. i like how it's coming in to ultrabeat, just not how it's coming out.
Are you dropping the file in a drag n drop kit? If you're dropping it in a kit that's pre-assembled it could be locking the wav file to the previous ADSR setting. Make sure the osc power buttons are turned off(unless you need them to shape the sound). The envelope setting could change the playback of your sample. I suggest looking up videos on ADSR, it doesn't matter the sequencer that's discussed. It's an universal language for waveforms. Hope that helps...
Mmmm, I guess you could get metal beats out of it, but you'd have your work cut out for you. It's possible to use drum samples for the drum sounds and you'd have to get your head around programming suitable beats using a step sequencer.
Realistically, there are much more suitable tools out there for getting metal drumming into a recording: beta monkey samples/loops, EZdrummer, BFD2, Steven Slate drums (the last 3 all are plugin+samples+midi groove packages).
Ahhh well, it's maybe not really the right tool for the job I think, so it may be harder to get a result that works well for metal. But basically any drum sequencer whether its Ultrabeat or whatever should let you load up samples of a metal drum kit, and then it's just up to you to program the beats. I don't think Ultrabeat or the EXS24 sampler (whose samples can be used in Ultrabeat) come with any kits that are specifically for metal. Hey, if you have Logic, try it out.
@imalwayswatchingu00 I'm using Ultrabeat but sometimes I think FL Studio is simple enough for making really quick beats and sampling is much simpler and quicker in FL Studio... if you want to get into the details and adjusting various sounds of your drum kit etc, of course logic would be better, but in terms of speed and simplicity, FL Studio wins. FL studio is really good at tiimes when you're hit with inspiration and you need a fast way to get your ideas down.
i beg to differ.. pc users arent all tone deaf... there are some PRIOR pc users who came to the mac world who actually have an awesome ear for music! oh and by the way... Thanx for the Tut!
@gammeltjald01 thats the most ignorant shit ive heard in a while.. yes logic is a great GREAT piece of software, but honestly, so is Cubase.. hell even FL studio fits the requirements of alot of (electronic)music producers. (actually, in my very humble opinion, FL studio has the best drum sequencer compared to the other DAWs out there...)
and about the "tonedeaf"ness of PC users.. the best editing program for classical music ONLY runs of a pc.
@jovocoe I completely agree with the statement about FL Studio.. It may very well be the most underrated sequencer/workstation on the market.. Literally ANYTHING that comes into your head, FL Studio can do it if you know what you're doing (in some cases even if you don't) :)
its really amazing what you can do with logic studio. i'm starting to become an avid user of the program. check out the music "DON'T LOOK BACK" that i composed using logic studio. i have others too.
a minute in the video, he scrolls down a menu to open up the ultrabeat. what word does he scroll down too? i cant seem to find ultra beat...does it have its own software or does it get loaded with everything else? thanks
VVVV no like through like a sythn or something into ultrabeat or how bout how 2 make a constant quantatized sound by just holding one key in a synth sound? like deadmau5 some1 told me 2 cut but its just not a good sound
thanks for the vid man i was wonderin if there is any way 2 run a anything else in ultrabeat besides the ultrabeat drumseta because im looking for a dubstep bass sound if any1 knows what that is or if u heard of deadmau5 how the bass will quantatizeno sustain? any1 please help also if anyone knows how to make a skipping effect?? any helps appreiated
are you talking using other drum kits not in ultra beat? If you select drag and drop samples kit, it gives you 25 empty keys and you can find your own sounds and simply put them in. presto

Thanks Dave...quick question for Dave or anyone...does anyone know how to create a "build up" in logic express? You hear them a lot in house/trance music usually in line with the synth and they peak right as the bass comes back in...sounds similar to say a siren from low to high...any help would be appreciated...thanks!
I have logic and I have to say it's money well spent the quality is very crisp and if your a student you can search on the internet for the educational version or something that's a little cheaper.
way cool, bro! i just got a new mac, i was using PC for years, and i'm just now learning how amazing logic 8 is! but i don't understand any of this ultra beat stuff. i do live drums or program with a key board. i'l check this out and see what u got...
how do I even open ultra beat cant find the button anywhere please help me just got a new mac and Logic Pro 8 and cant get ultra beat to open cause I cant find the button any where Helppppppppp anyone please.
create a new software instrument and look at the channel strip on the left hand side in the arrange window. Notice the I/O right below that is a blank rectangle. click and hold it down to select a software instrument, Ultrabeat one of your many options.
Thanx dude. Just when I was wondering how the heck I was going to get my patterns sounding better than just playing then via the keyboard (NOT even quantise could help me!). You're a blessing. keep it up. Now I must sleep!
how do i get the sounds out of the the ultrabeat and get them to my mpc, also the tracks that i record in logic and eq and compress to my liking how do i edit them to use in my mpc program please help
I've looked in alot of forums and downloaded all of the macpro video tutorials. Looks like ultrabeat just works with drums and bass unless you're willing to import samples into each channel. I did find a third party sequencer which works as an AU within logic using any sound generator. It's called Effectrix and works like a dream.
I'd like to use Ultrabeat as a step sequencer for musical synth sounds instead of drum beats. As a simple example, I'll send a video response using a third party sequencer (Albino) to demonstrate what I'm trying to do in ultrabeat.
I'm new to computers and music software. Last year I took the plunge and bought a Macbook and Pro-tools LE. It has been excruciating and humiliating to spend about a year trying to figure it all out and very little seems to work for me. I'm close to giving up on music all together! A freind recommended Logic. But I can't spend too much and I'm hesitant to try something new that may also be too complex to figure out. I just want to make my music. Is logic simpler than Pro tools? Should I get it?
Did you learn Logic in a music school or something? I want to make my music but I think I'm too old to learn this kind of software. I Never had a computer before last year. Pro tools seems like I need years of tech school to make music. Is Logic the same? I can't afford to make another purchase only to find out that I also need to spend thousands on classes just to use the damn thing! How did you learn Logic and what do you use it for? What kind of Music? Any problems with it? Peace.
How can you try out software? Where? Do you have to pay alot for classes? You say it's amazing. In what way? I just want some audio tracks for my guitar, decent midi sounds like drums and pianos strings etc. I have a big problem with the timing in pro tools. Things I recorded play back all out of time. A basic drum and bass loop can't lock to a tempo. Is Logic good at locking to a click? Is it easy for a computer newcomer to make music on it?
I don't need a really high tech and over-complicated setup. I just need to make my music with something simple that does what it's supposed to do. Pro-tools has made me give up on my music! These damn computers are just too complicated for me. I made more music with my 4-track. I have heard about Logic but I must admit it seems too hard for me. I'm not a computer person. Never had one till now and I think I'm about done with them for anything other than Youtube and email. Thanks though, man.
CAn i compose every single part of my drums(intro, riff, chorus, etc) in ultrabeat and listen to it "rewired" or in real time(straight from Ultrabeat), in case i want to go back and fix something? or do i have to drag and drop every part it into a track everytime?
you can trip the patterns in Ultrabeat without having to drag them to the arrange window. Just try pattern mode, and play your keyboard from C-2 on up to access different patterns.
Thanks for your instruction. I do look forward to another ultrabeat tutorial. One question already though, to all who may answer it: isn't it possible to trigger drumhits with a midikeyboard in ultrabeat or is clicking on the step sequencer (or the total view-field) the only way? I sort of miss the intuitive approach in that a little.
To be honest, Logic offers you the most bang for your buck. Go and find another program that offfers what logic does for under $500. Yeah, there may be a learning curve, but it's worth it. Nad for those that hate on logic, understand that it is geared more toward the musician, the studio engineer. (most of the people who hate on use protools, and mostly do recording).
If you want some great tips visit macprovideo DOT com. They have free tips as well as full blown out toturials.
The easiest way with Ultrabeat is to grab the little blue area next to the key the voice is on, (kick or snare or something) and drag it left and right. That's the volume for the individual voice. Otherwise you can use it as a Multi Instrument, which I'm going over this Sunday. Ciao!

Is it easy for a computer newcomer to make music on it?

get express which is £100 or around $200 and if you dont like it return it to apple

Pro tools has nowhere near the capabilities as logic pro tools is just for audio recording not production
get more for less

GReat videos! thanks a lot!

you can trip the patterns in Ultrabeat without having to drag them to the arrange window. Just try pattern mode, and play your keyboard from C-2 on up to access different patterns.

alwayza9er 3 years ago
yes, at least logic pro 7, not sure about express.

how do you access it or start it?

I have logic Pro 8. I cant even figure out how to open up Ultra beat. Can you send me a step by step? That would be awesome...

Dear Ninja,
Thanks for your instruction.

When loading a sample into ultrabeat is there a way to first preveiw it?
unvmyskill 4 years ago
When you are importing, check the box called 'preview in place', I think that's what it's called....
SFLogicNinja 4 years ago
Ther is a "Preview Sample in Ultrabeat Voice" checkbox..sadly nothing changes when i click it
unvmyskill 4 years ago
You need to then hit the key on your keyboard that corresponds to the voice in Ultrabeat...

Got any tips on how to get the instrument balance right in the final mix?
keegiebear 4 years ago
The easiest way with Ultrabeat is to grab the little blue area next to the key the voice is on, (kick or snare or something) and drag it left and right. That's the volume for the individual voice. Otherwise you can use it as a Multi Instrument, which I'm going over this Sunday. Ciao!

REALLY useful stuff, well presented too, thank u very much! More ppl need to comment!
