Norther and children of bodom are similar but children of bodom is more technical like Shimekeri said (they focuse on insane solos both on guitar and keyboard) while Norther is much more melodic.

it kinda sucks that these guys dont get as much recognition as children of bodom. both bands are similar yet each is unique; if you listen to both bands carefully, youll see that they really play with different styles and personalities. though the principal style of both these bands is melodic power/death metal, norther uses the keyboards in a very different way than COB does, and outside of their solo sections norther uses a lot more lead guitar.

I would beg to differ; I've heard at least four Norther songs on YouTube that have a grand total of one non-solo lead, as opposed to many Children of Bodom songs that are about 50/50 between riffs and leads.
