I listened to Q's bands when I was in the army in Germany in '66-68. They absolutely burned. He was just another expatriate musician then, but a great writer and arranger. I used to ply his tune, "Stockholm Sweetnin" then, in Gflat
R.I.P. Floyd Standifer...my grandfather on trumpet he's the one on the end that you can't see till the end of the video. He used to talk about how him and Q (as he called him) always hung out.
I knew Floyd -- such a great talent! I was lucky enough to hear some of those stories -- like when they played a gig and the power went out, but they kept playing!
