The three taunts are done with inputs on the Directional Pad. If you want to do the Side Taunt, press the D-pad either left or right. If you're getting an Up or Down Taunt, then either you're pressing too much up/down or... your D-pad isn't working.
I'm torn between Kirby's Up and Side taunts. They're all amazing, though. Disappointed there aren't more color swaps. Even more disappointed that Green Kirby has red shoes instead of dark green ones now.

When my friend plays this game it's bad... If he loses he slams down the Wii remote. He was playing and he lost once.. He broke my controller!!!
