There are no scientific theories postulating whether or not God exists. After all, science is based on observation. Lots of arguments on both sides of the God issue use (and misuse) science though. Science does make it clear that a lot of stories from the Bible cannot be literally true (6 days for creation, Lot's wife turning into salt, etc), and that's why some Christian denominations don't always insist on literal interpretations. But most (all?) still cling to the virgin birth...
Please dont ask the group who thought the world was a flat cracker and the sun revolved around the earth for scientific thought. These are the people who put Galileo in prison for the rest of his life as a heretic. If you can't have a spiritual life and a scientific one that you are an idiot. Even the Pope decried such thought is a mistake belonging to the past.
Oh, and another thing: i think your emotional developement has a massive influence on getting closer to the truth. Just look at the AmazingAtheist, he's so egotistical that there couldn't possibly be any room for God in his world because it's all about his selfish sucking black-hole needs.
Maybe we can learn this much from religion: humility is a necessary virtue.
Both religion and science - as we know them - are deeply flawed; one ignores the value of the other, yet doesn't see how they're both complementary.
Evolution, physical laws, etc. aren't proof of the Non-Existence of God. All they do is reveal the absolute omniscience, omnipresence, and any other omni you wanna invent of Intelligence and Infinite Creative Power emanating through every existent thing in the Universe!
...and I think religion has totally missed the point BADLY when they tried to describe and attribute certain characteristics to God; i.e. turning this incomprehensible Intelligence that possesses and gives EVERYTHING into a bearded man with either a chip on his shoulder, or whatever.
...better to admit your lost and not have a clue, than arrogantly state this or that as FACT and go on some rampage trying to convert people, then when you croak it find how terribly WRONG you were! lol
