dustin i love your tanks but one thing that bothers me is you have almost no color contrast and when you get wood you cover it in anubius so its more green and you have no rocks now thats my opinion i would add some colorful rocks and add little anubius on my drift wood

like i said thats my opinion i love your fish and plants but some aspects of ur aquascaping kind of annoys i still love ur vids and an ur very helpful

@Gixxr11 I don't have any in this tank.... You have to buy good ones, its like the most important piece of equipment. if your filter goes out, you can do water changes....if your heater sticks it cooks your fish.... i like the metal type ones

How much is the 150 watts metal Halids? And where did you purchase it?

@chanasty08 273 each on Dr Foster smith. I got them used for 150 each. (a deal) My only beef is that they have loud fans. (check out fishtanktv com for a full write up on them search 125 planted tank)

They are coral life with 6500k bulbs

nice tank! I have something similar (110 gallon w/ soil underlayer). I've had mine up for around 1 yr and haven't dose anything yet. Are you dosing fert? How often is your water change? I like your lights. I have a tough time accessing my tank because I build my own light enclosure... might have to get something like yours to replace it.

@ucdchan No ferts but I used to add a ton when I ran it like a high tech. I used to pound CO2 and had 8 foot bulbs over it. Now I just run it like it is...No ferts and like once a month I do a 70% waterchang. I'd just modify your existing hood. I'll drop a video of how I build my old hood. It could be better, but I can get into it. truth be told I have given up on this 125.... but the new lights help. Ask away!

Hi I also have a 220g rainbowifsh tank and strangely when i firt set it up i moved my two old angels in. The Angels are dead now after 6 years. You can see my tank though...

im setting up a brackish tank right now and i just now realized that mangroves could live in brackish water, this is my first tank, ever, but my parent have ALOT of experience salt and freshwater tank and im looking for a real plant to put in my tank (its 40 gallons) would you suggest a mangrove for a first timer i already have the tank cycled so is it to late?

I would love to have omething like this and I will someday soon in september im getting a 125 or 180 gallon im just worried about the plants and stuff ive had fish all my life and had all fake stuff but now I realize that i love planted tanks theyre beautiful and im starting practice with my 20g and 30g the 20 already has all real plants but thats about it lol I was wondering if maybe we could switch emails and you could help me out step by step with what i need

@Gtegu007 Thanks for the kind words... They are Coral Life 150 Metal Halides (switched to 6500k). I got them for a steal used for $450 for all three. (they are like 299 each new) The guy who had them before me even mounted the ballasts on a rack so I can get to them easy. (his tank was amazing) Sadly this tank is going to be ripped apart to fill a 220 I have downstairs. It's actually tough to fertilize the plants with the dirt running out... Thanks for looking.
