Loren, Great video... it makes me wish I lived once again in a year round gardening area. Im very impressed with your knowledge of plants. Here in RI we have to race against time to make the most of the summer months. The greenhouse is going up this year :-) I'm going to try and raise a few of the interesting plants that you had in your video. Keep up the good work... I hope you have more business than you can keep up with! :-)
nice job but too many exotics for my 'taste. whats wrong with avocado, , citrus, citrus, and citrus, low chill fruit trees-apples, apricots, strawberry beds, pomegranetes olive, and almond, low chill southern blueberrys, figs, raspberries, a date tree, etc. no avocodos in santa barbara, wow. you can grown anything on the mesa.
Very well thought out, you guys are lucky to be in California where these edible plants are possible, I am in Colorado, it hard to get without as much water and the cold winters.
I'm from Colorado as well and have set up several edible landscapes. Utilizing permaculture design you can minimize the amount of water you need. Of course it depends what part of CO your in.
Beautiful garden... such a haven!! :)

Heavy irrigation = not sustainable, and not all that much that is edible.
