  • The best song they have ever done.

  • best of the best

    thank fuck they're back =)

  • This is basically 2 cousin songs woven into a beautiful whole. Awesome outro, so ethereal and other worldly. The genuis of the Stones Roses .... and this was a mere B-side.

  • stone roses B sides smash other bands A sides :)

  • Does anyone have the lyrics to this song? It is not on Lyrics.com

  • why did they split after 2 albums?

  • @58busby58 john squire guitarist basically thought he could do better on his own, ego & cocaine. He said recently he didn't appreciate at the time what the other band members contributed but realises now.

  • @58busby58 coz they thought, right lets hit a break for 15 years, then take the world after

  • 3:16 if you love that bit as much as I do...

  • @WetpantsLOL YOU HAVE FUCKING EXCELLENT TASTE MATE :D

  • one of my faves this one,I NEVER get tired of hearing it!

  • I could park a juggernaut in two people's mouths

  • This obviously inspired Cloudburst by Oasis....

  • @theselector haha thats exaclty what i was just thinkin

  • @theselector aswell as The Real People Love/Come On

  • Absolutley fucking brilliant, only The Jam were as good as them, mufc19x

  • if i could have sex with a band, i would have sex with the stone roses

  • class...just pure class,need i say more?

  • im standing here.... with this on repeat!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Quality.

  • Alongside The Smiths, FOOKIN CLASSICS relegated to b-sides!!!! Wtf!!! How Soon Is Now Anybody?

ALL bands current, can't get ANYWHERE NEAR THIS! Sublime. Reni is a percussion GOD!!!

  • "I'm free to do what i want any old time..."

  • What moron had to be funny & say they dislike this? By doing that, they are simply declaring they have no idea what good music even sounds like. This is one of the best pieces of music ever recorded, of any generation, any genre, any fucking day of the week!! Prick.

  • Got to be 1 of my favourite Roses songs. Fucking brilliant

  • My abiding memory of this song is coming home after a good night out in summer '97 to discuss whether the lyrics are about unrequited love or by the ghost of a deceased lover; the conversation went on to about 5am, only stopping for 5 minutes to notice that Princess Diana had died.

To us, the Roses were that vital.

  • masterpiece.. end of!!

  • always reminds me of the snooker coming on for some reason!! lol

  • @DelBluenose80 lol that's strange -- i'm so much into snooker and never felt like it. But hey, you never know!

  • Epic .better than anything out there.thanks guys for makin it happen when yous did.time is still on your side.

  • They definitely weren't afraid to put amazing songs as B-Sides.

  • if u wanna start 2 get into indie music this group is a good place 2 start

  • Stone roses the best band ever. Ian brown is a fuckin legend. Wish him n John squire could sort out there differences n have a reunion..

  • This song's a b side for fucks sake. The outro especially is a work of art. What a band, seriously, what a fucking band!

  • The first time I heard this Band, even coming from where I did, they still sounded too good to be local!!

  • 'I could park a juggernaut in your mouth ... and I can feel a hurricane when you shout'

  • Celestial. A thing of genuine beauty.

  • Ian Brown is so right when he says that modern music is too safe and boring - businessmen dont understand creative output. Hint hint simon cowell.

  • @multitudinal cowell is a CUNT....fullstop....

  • 1 souless fuck dislikes this song.... fuck them. Roses are amazing and this song is the best!

  • Been listening to this song since '89, and I've only just noticed the heavenly guitar punch in at 4:52. Ahh I love The Roses the depth of their studio recordings is incredible.

  • top notch

  • about as good as it gets 4 indie music, reminds ov being about 17 listening 2 these treasures all the time

  • Amazing tune - I think the ending is fantastic.

  • I should be safe forever in your arms....

    Beautiful man.

  • this song is obviously of a dead guy now a ghost singing to a girl

  • The layered guitars are simply amazing. Squire at his best on this track

  • awsome

  • jon from the charlatans often mentioned receiving drum lessons from reni, get well soon jon from all of us ....amazing drummer

  • proper tune stick everything else ever up yur arse haha

  • listen to cloudburst by oasis (early demo) 100% ripped off of this haha. this is a class song

  • @yahhhtrickyah so true!!!!

  • @yahhhtrickyah who didn't oasis rip off? ;)

  • @yahhhtrickyah if they did rip it off im sure its cus ian and noel are good mates he probably let him

  • when I listen to their songs I leave the Earth and I go to another planet

  • @Noelgallagher290567

With a little help from Billy Bifter!

  • Class track this. IReminds me of the trip home after seeing the Roses at Ally Pally. If you like this and want something a little similar (mid track break & dream like ending) dig out a B side by a band called Sound Team called "in the dark no one can hear you sweat". The break is at 2:58 and the second half reminds me of the chemical rush i used to get back in the second summer of love, hey and where back to the Roses ! "and i feel a hurricane when you shine"

  • I was there. 1989. A 16 year old in the second summer of love. This track brings it all back. Reminds me of hitch hiking in my 34" flares to Manchester to catch the Roses live at the Haciendah. I thank my lucky stars i grew up around all this music. The Roses debut album is the greatest, most perfect album ever made (and I have thousands of albums). As someone else said what kind of band has to put a track like this on a B side ? "I can feel a hurricane when you shine" indeed.

  • @matthadfield8 always 1 spoiling the party ...

  • watching tfi friday, just started work for the first time/going to pubs, getting pissed with £20, ben sherman shirts, summers went on for ever, no mortgage or bills, music like longpigs, cast, suede, shed seven, bluetones etc etc. It will never be as good as it was back in early-mid 90s. those days are gone, but they will always be there, when i close my eyes and listen to honest/talented music like this. And i will still be closing my eyes another 15 years from now..

  • @PUMPKIN1080 Amazing post pal.

I'm too young to have experienced that era... I would give anything to have been born 10 years earlier..

  • i should be safe foreva in u arms...........

  • The blueprint for Cloudburst

  • fuckin classic tune.the finish to this tune is hypnotic.the roses are the best band ever

  • reni is a one man walkin fuckin 1 man band, he could sing, play bass, guitar, drum, and coat knobheads from the industry in a nice thick undercoat of reality, love u ren, tho i suspect u wont appreciate it, from a scouse drummer in the same boat, chin up pal..........

  • my fav, thanks for the post

  • say what you want about Brown's live singing, the majesty of songs like this makes life bearable, and how often can you say that about any music? An outro that makes the rainiest days seem like sun drenched summer evenings. Perfection is so rare, but when it comes along it validates everything you ever hoped for and more.

  • I could have parked a juggernaut in your mouth - awesome lyrics. I like the fact that people keep bleating that they nicked the outro music from the Wombles. Well why not? If it works. Talent borrows. Genius steals.

  • @klinepatsy wombles..ok....lipa ,,the wombles of course not a scouse band. ....people bleating..the wombles havnt even been to everton!! by the way ....how can you nick music from the future......you can, steal music from the past ....check out , the wombles....ringo loves them!!!!!!!!! scarey

  • yeah i love the fact that the roses went for quality not quantity. i'd much rather 20 amazing songs than 2000000 ok ones.

  • i could park a juggernaut in your mouth..............

  • You can't beat a band that has mindblowing B-side - Stone Roses, The Jam, Oasis....

  • I almost forgot how fucking awesome this band was.

    last minute is amazing

  • their B-sides makes a better album than second coming

  • Oh God...that outro...is just the most beatiful thing ever played.

  • @jspaceman I second this to the nth degree.

  • love the roses , love this song ! shame there is nothing as good about these days

  • one of the best..

  • love it

  • still sing this to my wife! ha ha ha we been seperated 9 years. not really she next to me wicked

  • SWINGING FROM A TREE ,KING MONKEY

  • How good do you have to be as a band that is a B side? Fucking awesome. Just fucking awesome.

  • great observation

  • @Spicercdc Word.

  • @Spicercdc

How good do you have to be? "The Masterplan" kinda good.

  • @OasisKid99 hahahahahahahahaha. Doesn't even come close kid

  • @jakdory

They call it: subjective opinion... To each their own. How old are you? Just curious.

  • @OasisKid99 36...not that it matters eh, as it's only subjective opinion

  • @jakdory

    Now you're making sense.

  • PURE BLISS

  • a true classic from the greatest band ever.

  • mersey paradise then this!!!

  • This is pure brilliance, still love this band, but has anyone else noticed that the start of the outro has been lifted from the Wombles theme tune?

  • fucking blissful, i love it

  • can't help not thinking of EC you're wonderfull tonight at the start.

  • the last two minutes of this song is so fucking epic...fucking genius

  • just wondering is this the b-side of she bangs the drums, if so what a fucking b-side!

  • best manchester band ever...that means one of the best bands ever.

  • Fuck 22thousand views ill be adding a couple of hundred more!lol jus got big fuck off speakers the only way to listen to the roses! You no that im in heaven when you shine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Proper video for this is lethal too Squire is a fuckin genius!

  • and i feel a hurricane when you shout

  • Top comment weecoby.

  • Three minutes of musical, fucking majesty which is only bettered by the final two minutes ...which can only be described as the finest dream sequence ever laid down on record! Christ, they were good....

  • Nice comment

  • and all from a fucking b side whtch says all you really need to know about the greatest band of all time .

  • @weecoby3 - only downside to this fkr if there was one, is that sh1tebag DJs would never play the song all the way through - nearly caused a riot everytime it was faded out - they didnt understand that it wos the endin that made it for everyone - LongLiveTheRoses

  • @weecoby3 ..absolutey well said my friend....and ...where is reni??..the finest drummer/singer of his generation bar none ..a pure waste of musicianship..there is deffo a story behind why he left the best band of all time and has gone missin....where are you reni?????..all these no marks are robbin you blind brother...peace and ..one love xxx

  • @weecoby3 amen to that lad.

  • Unfortunately you did mention them in the same sentence.

  • You are absolutely right.

  • I really dont think oasis should be mentioned in the same sentence as The Stone Roses. Fuckin' Amateurs!

  • STFU you anal.

Its not about How well they play instraments, Its about how well they use the instraments to change how you feel. And If it doesnt have the same affect on you as the Roses Do, then STFU. It may still have a good result on other people.

  • this is an ace song , my fav bit is the last couple of minutes when it slows right down, fucking genius!

  • first listen in 15 years!!! Awesome, anthemic...and awesome again.

  • haha the charlatans only wish to reach these hights!

  • The Charlatans only had the Manchester monkey walk, the Roses had an actual monkey

  • oh my god i can't believe how much oasis ripped this song off lol

  • God, I really miss having REALLY good bands around.....

  • Hear!, Hear!

  • The sound of a generation. Love it.

  • oasis took total inspiration from this when they recorded Cloudburst on the Live Forever B side

search for cloudburst on youtube, you'll know what i mean...

  • "inspiration" hahaha. I still love Oasis. This is a beautiful mellow tune, and cloudburst is, as teh title suggests, a burst of energy that's come and gone before you even realize it. Definitely one of those songs I listen to in order to get pumped up for a friday night.

  • haha too right, i love the bit when i'm getting ready for a night on the town where i blast out some oasis tunes!

  • cant believe this has only got 19 thousand odd views... easily one of the best song on youtube!

  • Wunderbar

  • magic. it's fuckin' magic.

  • SPOT ON, VSchoonderwalt, SPOT ON!!!!

It often seems to me that the truly great bands are....pure magic!

  • Comment removed

  • fucking brilliant tune... i can see where oasis came from here...

  • beautifull fukin guitar peice at begginin, John you fukin legend !!!!

  • The Stone Roses> The World

  • You know you could take all the Stone Roses B-sides, make it into one album and it would be way better than most

  • i totally agree.

  • dont think its over rated like... jus over played? but this is a fucking brilliant tune, its got everything! great melody, great lyrics, theres nothing out there at all like this

  • GundamWingEpyon you're right :) just fed up of hearing Fools Gold when they did so many other good tunes, Elephant stone and Full fathom five to mention a couple!

The outro on this IS amazing! Could be a separate track in it's own right x

  • best tune after resurrection. brilliant band Hugely underrated. Outro is pure magic.

  • magic indeed :)

  • Such a beautiful song. They were truly one of the best British guitar bands ever. Up there with Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Smiths, Cream etc.

  • fantastic drumming on this, I usually go nuts for the guitar parts, but Reni makes it sound so lazy and simple, which I'm pretty sure is not simple at all

  • The Stone Roses=genius.

  • Reni's drums are genius, they really should have been brought forward more in this song. He's bouncing off his tom-tom at several points and you can't tell unless you're a drummer!

  • That outro is top notch, top tune

  • Oasis' "Cloudburst" is very similar to this. Love both bands though.

  • Noel Gallagher admitted that he copied Cloudburst from this tune

  • Andy Bell's a bit dry at times but Gem Archer's a great guy.

Most people don't realise that if Gem was in the Band in the early 90's he'd be no different from Bonehead or Guigsy.

Anyway, great song, love the Roses.

  • theres realy no comparison to this band now and in the past , this band produced some of the best music of its time, and i was lucky enough to be18 when they got going , great memories of hazy summers with the stone roses!

  • I can say, they have borrowed from Purple Haze!

  • i could park a juggernaunt in your mouth ... fuckin genius this song is!!!

  • Best song in the world. Reminds me of the few beautiful, sunny weeks when I was 16. Then I started work and it all went down hill....

  • ohh man, that's heavy... im 18 and i just started working :(
