I agree with you on the ineffectiveness of 12-step treatment. I also don't think that alcoholism, addiction and most psychological disorders are not "diseases" in any classical sense. I do however feel that they need treatment for the life-threatening disorders they are, the same as obesity is addressed with treatment. I actually like this video, and I think it is very well done. Patrick Kennedy is actually my favorite member of the Kennedy family because he has focused his political career on helping others. That said, I think topshlf may be right. I could see him running for his father's old seat in a couple of years. I think the Kennedy's can't stand to see anyone except a Kennedy in that seat. A real loss for Rhode Island. Patrick dedicated his career to advocating for working class families, the elderly and the disadvantaged. If it's possible he was almost a non-political politician, what he did was based on a sincere desire to do what is best for his constituents.

Since the death of Mary Jo Kopechne this family has attempted to redeem themselves. Fortunately, the ultimate redemption came with the election of Scott Brown.
