@Cowlibob2202 I bought a wrx sti over a gt4. I coulda bought a few gt4s but alot are in terrible condition. The wrx is quicker stock.. but the 3sgte engine becomes beast with little mods. I think i might have went the wrong way since the gt4 is one of my fav cars. But meh the boxer engine sounds nasty. This is my first 4 cyl engine ever.. I was driving 6 cyl tt cars before. But i kinda like the slight lag you get in these cars.. makes it kinda seem faster. ( its not tho)
That boy has a lot of stuff in his car. Still though, supposedly he has put over $20k into his car. I live in the states and have to build my own GT-Four, which I am in the process of doing. So after buying a 2.2L $6k stroker kit, I am not going to be near that much HP with the 3sgte engine? Shit....
I'm too lazy to build my own. This summer, I'm going to England to import one. Then I'll work on it =D. Had a buddy back in Cali that did the same thing, now it's my turn.
How much did it cost to import it? Wouldn't it be cheaper to import it from Japan vs England? Or does it all matter on what side of the US you are on? I am in Cali. Oh, better yet, Canada can get them now, at least the 94's, since they can import cars as long as they are 15yrs old (according to the year of the car). I would imagine that would be even cheaper. I just want to build my own and I do NOT want a RHD. Because I am actually going to use this on Track and not for drag, LHD better
Cost him about 5K USD to buy the car and another 1.8K to ship it out to Cali. The reason he decided to get one in England was because his dad was from there (so he had connections), and because the speedo was in MPH so it was one less thing he'd have to convert to US spec. Plus, the gov. seems to be a lot less worried about Euro imports coming in than Japanese imports, since Europe has stricter emissions laws. So he got the car for 6.8K. not too bad! =D
WTF?! Are you serious?! Man I have put $5k into my SALVAGED titled 95' GT and only have GT-Four exterior, Projector headlights, rims, drop, exhaust, intake, and leather seats to show for! Oh and I have a overpriced Koyo radiator. ;-P That is crazy. I have seen some in Japan for only $4k, but shipping would cost a total of $14k, in fact that is close to what they go for to flat out buy. I am sad now. Because another $8k will get me front clip, rear clip, and then $3k into that for AWD
Yeah, that conversion seemed hella expensive. Hence why I'm too lazy =P. Ya know, I don't think he got the car over here legally. Legally, it's like 14k, you're right. I'm pretty sure he just put it on a boat and floated it out here and then drove it to Cali. The car passes emissions, but I'm not sure how he got it registered..... some places are saying its only like 2k to ship a car from Japan, and others say its more like 10k+
yeah 255 is with that 3rd gen engine too. It is a 94 they get in right now, right? How much was shipping (if you live in the states) and was that $7000 USD or Canadian? Because some of them try to charge more on top of shipping which ends up costing more than importing from Japan for just the complete engine with tranny and ecu.

its praatically impossiblt to make a supra or any 6 cylinder car 1000 hp.. i know i know you're probably thinking.. " but with NOS " but no.. that doesn't really count does it?.. that means its 1000 hp for a very small expensive moment.. when its not.. 600, maybe 700 at a push.. and you wont be driving everyday thats for sure.
@joshisthebestwooha20 1 year later comment lol but what about engine swap vvti celica 2001 model (the newer one) which has the 1.8 with the gt4 engine thats what Im considering.
It really isnt that hard to get that much horsepower out of a supra. All you need to do is chip it and modify the injectors. With extremely minor modifications you can get over 600hp out of a supra
Yeah, that IS Tufy's GT-FOUR. One of the fastest GT-FOUR's on this planet. Even with 500 to the wheel, his traction is amazing. Doesn't even peel out one bit when flooring it off the line. You can tell that's his by the C-ONE front bumper with his Z-Glide sideskirts and the 18" rims and his horizontal intercooler piping on top of the engine valve cover where the old top mount intercooler use to be. His intercooler piping is the best way I recognize his car.
i have the st185 gt-4 ( the model before this ) and i've always favoured them over the other 4 wheel drive turbos. just love the look. thats a nice st205.
love it i have a 96 celica that im waiting to do a gt4 conversion :)

I'm the guy who bought it for 7k in montreal. I PAID IN CAD$ shipped delivered and ready to drive.
i had to do my own emissions and safety but it passed ontario law on both counts. FYI ontario has strict emissions.
So there you go!

Not only is it possible, but it's also not very difficult.
The 2jz-gte in supras have seen up to 800+ horsepower with little to no internal upgrades.
A 700 whp setup could also be almost as safe as running the stock block, just depends on how well you take care of it.
Oh and all of this of course without "NOS."
