  • More great stuff, and featuring the wonderful George Lewsi this time! I'd like to clarify one or two points. The trumpeter in question was Buddy Bolden, not Belton, and of the musicians here, I think only Pavageau would really have been performing during Bolden's time. We can also admit than neither Bolden nor anyone else was playing jazz in the 1880's, when ragtime was still in it's infancy out in the midwest. His music was probably hot ragtime style, from the mid 90's on for a decade or so.
