umm turned that into 4/4. that's why it has that weird gap at the end of the hook. but anyway, sounds great. I think playing reggae at 5/4 would sound awkward, cause it is a 2-4 sound anyway.

This drummer is fucking sick!!!!! Reggae drummers sometimes don't get as much credit bc the beats are slower and more basic but watch for the fills, there are some highly skilled fills in Reggae drumming. I'm not saying this guy is a straight Reggae drummer but look at the fills he's doing you can tell just from watching that he can play multiple genres of music on the drums. That guy is a really sick drummer.(im a drummer & guitarist too I notice shit like that)

This is a very clever arrangement of a very classic tune. These guys are also great musicians. I think novelty is when you do something different with something familiar. Also, when jazz musicians improvise on the original 5/4 tune, they're still thinking in 4/4. Just listen to multiple versions over the years. Long story short, good music is good music and these guys are doing a great job with this tune.

it's their "remix" of the song. even if it ruins the groove and defeats the purpose of the original "Take Five", if the ensemble feels 4/4 would better suit their ideas, then do it. Other elements are their, so it's not like they can call it their own composition.

Yeah this song was written to have a 5 feel, but all music is up for interpretation, as long as it's not plagiarized. I actually enjoy it in 4. There's nothing wrong with it.
