@tazzz174 to clarify: "Nationality" concerns citizenship, which is usually, but not necessarily, defined by the country of one's birth whereas "Heritage" is something inherited at birth - genetic line of descent via DNA is inherent, not learned. Cultural norms have often been referred to interchangeably along with this though since people were previously more geopraphically and therefore genetically isolated by country so the two were usually the same thing. To call their Italian background their "nationality" is technically incorrect in that case.
