  • i love her voice xx

  • The piano ruined this!!! Gah!!!

  • The best version. Love the wackiness and neurotic quality of her rendition. It's unabashed passion.

  • did she really just try to sing that song and get away with it??

she should be chopped in the neck for that.

  • I love Megan Mullally, and she *does* have a good singing voice. However, this is not an ideal match for her vocals. If it's not in the context of the show, Bernadette Peters owns this song. As I said, Mullally is terrific, just not here...not to mention, the arrangement, as already stated, is awful.

  • The piano is sooooo over done. Megan is amazing though!

  • Not a fan of the piano. It's really terrible.

Instead of the Judge, we have Rosario. XD

  • A totally bonkers version of this song. Was her cat dancing on the piano keys? Joking aside, the arrangement is too busy. It's distracting and takes your ear away from her voice. When she starts that last line "Buried sweetly in your yellow hair", she sounds like Herman Munster.

    Bernadette Peters' version is exquisite.

  • eek her voice is like a nail file on a blackboard...it's horrible. Soo nasal.

  • Hideous. She does not have a good singing voice.

  • she's all over the place..

  • Excellent vocal. Terrible arrangment. Love Theme from Sweeney Todd meets the rest of Sweeney Todd.

  • @cpdub09 The accompaniment seems to embody the insane character of the story.

  • This is phenomenal. I can't describe how it is. It's so sinister and epic. Megan Mullally is one of my favourite people.

  • Best version on YouTube! Passionate and exciting. Funny that the women get it better than the few guys I've heard singing this. Bernadette Peters comes in a close second.

  • I want her to play ELPHABA! or Madame Morrible! .... mostly elphaba!

  • @jewey896 ****head desk***

  • i look alot like her for a 13 year old

  • Being honest I have to say that I always placed this song last comared to the other ones from the musical but Megan gives it so much life that I just can't help but be filled with respect and inspiration!

  • I like parts of this version - very modern version of Johanna, but is she doing all of it in her chest voice? ouch. My throat hurt in sympathy.

  • I really like her singing voice

  • oh god. Love Megan but this version is no good. Too nasal. Too belty. Too whiny. Arghh. Bernadette is perfection with this song. L

  • God, I love her voice. She did so great in Young Frankenstein. I love her belt voice. It's great.

  • Aw I love Megan, she's so cute and funny...and a very, very loud singer apparently lol

  • I hated this song so much in the movie, but this just...made me love it @,.@

  • I didn't even know she could sing. Wow.

  • @Arnarkusaga

oh yes, in the 80s she was mainly working as a singer. and i think she's a trained theatre and musical actress/singer.

but it's amazing to hear her fantastic REAL voice, if one has known her only from Will&Grace, like i used to before i looked up some of her songs on youtube hehehe

  • God she reminds me SO MUCH of Brenadette Peters, it's frightening.

  • can you picture them doing a duet?? i would die

  • When Bernadette guest starred as her sister on Will&Grace, I nearly did.

  • @BlueJeanBaby012 I think Bernadette Peters is WAY better. Her version is softer. This version is too harsh when she belts. Just listen to Peters and compare (and be critical).

  • @HelenaKoonings

I also like Bernadettes better. But u gotta give Megan props for being able to belt the whole dang thing- thats a high belt!

    ...

The interesting thing about Bernadettes version is that though she doesnt belt at all (save for the last note) she keeps a strong resonance throughout.

I like them both. Theyre definitely both passionate & emotionally stirring. But I'd say that Megans shows impressive strength & range, whereas Bernadettes is beautiful & technically superb/flawless!

  • Megan is AMAZING!! i love her acting AND singing!!!!!! :)

  • uhh i loved megan since "how to succeed" and now i think i love her even more she is amazing at this song!

  • i love this even if it is a guy song. and i think this is the best version of the song ive heard and ive heard heaps of version. and the high notes are the best ones!!

  • I love Megan and think she has an amazing voice, but it seems to me that she was pushing a bit too hard on those higher notes. Other than that, it was beautiful =]

  • did she sing this at a show or on a cd?

  • I don't think so. In sweeny todd this is a guy song

  • no i mean did she sing it at one of her concerts

  • It's on her CD The Sweetheart Break-In

  • which of course i cannot find anywhere!!!

  • The end is miraculous

  • i dont like the piano

  • WOW very nice

  • megan has an amazing voice, i saw her on the new fame, and she sings on that, and her and seans rendition of unforgetable on the last episode of will and grace was quite beautiful also =]

  • sh*t! I was NOT EXPECTING such a nice rendition, and I love Megan, this is quite the beautiful rendition. 5 stars

  • Wow ! Lord a'mighty.......the arrangement is killer and her performance : amazing !!!

  • I did not know she sang!!

  • where's this from BTW, from what Cd?

  • O_O WOW!!! This is the best version I've ever heard by far!!!!

  • .........beautiful.

    Nuff said.

  • such a powerful voice!!!

  • Oh wow.. Her headvoice is wonderful, I think I'm indifferent towards the belt.

  • i love her

  • such a beautiful voice!! she's wonderful!!!

  • SHE'S SO FRIKKING AWESOME!

  • Sorry to burst your bubbles but it is Megan Mullaly.

  • They ARE remarkably similar!! I totally understand confusion! Bernadette has a bit more depth to her voice, especially in her upper voice. But, Man, Really really close! Well done Ms. Mullaly! More Broadway please!

  • i LOVE megan, but she sounds like she's chewing on her words.

  • damn. is all i have to say.

  • I always thought this song was kinda creepy because of some of the lyrics. Talk about a stalker song, but coming from a woman, it's just creepier. I've always liked Megan M's voice, (I can't remember where else I've heard her sing, though) but this is just too creepy for me.

  • She sang on the M&M commerical and she sang on the finale of Will & Grace...let's not forget the Tony's.

  • See? I knew I heard her somewhere before. Thanks.

  • have ya seen the show? she's basically being held captive and he's talking about breaking her out...there's nothing stalker about it

  • Karen Walker singing Sweeney Todd? There is a God!!!

  • @margaritasaurus Thats what I thought!

  • Damn, she has a beautiful voice. I have this song from her album "The Sweetheart Break-In" and I listen to it all the time. Her voice is so damn beautiful. I wish I could make some music with her since I'm a singer too. I'd love to make a few songs with her. That would be a wonderful experience. Or I'd just make an album of my own and dedicate it to her. That's a better idea. I think I'll do that.

Megan Mullally, will you marry me? :)

  • her voice is much better in young frankenstein. the part in that show fits her voice much better

  • can't she just sing it for the simple fact that she has a good voice??

  • Are you sure this is Megan? lol

    I love it regardless.

  • it sounds like a mix between bernadette and megan, look up bernadette videos sometime and watch her

  • Megan has a great voice, but at least in this song doesn't compare to Bernadette Peter's version, which starts out much softer, with more of a sense of loss rather than anger...

  • I love this song! Still can't get it :(

  • Why could a girl not be singing about another girl?

This is so beautiful, Megan has such an amazing voice <3

  • This isn't from Into the Woods, this is Sweeney Todd. Anthony's song to Johanna.

Of course you could totally take the mother to a daughter approach, though I think some altered lyrics would be appropriate.

  • dont be a twat, its from sweeney todd, demon barber of fleet street

  • i dont care what yall haters say i thought she sounded amazing!!!

  • Omg...this made me laugh so much haha

    I love it

I love Megan and Sondheim and Sweeney Todd is my favorite thank you so much whoever posted this lol

  • it does sound like bernadette peters, and i saw her in concert. xD

  • she can sing pretty well but the piano sounds like it just doesn't mix with her voice

  • i freakin love it!!!!

  • This sounds like Megan mixed with Bernadette...?

  • I love her, but uh.. Sondheim.. not so much for her.

  • wwooooooo

  • this is my absolute favorite song by megan. i love it, thanks for the post.

  • i love Megan

    shes such a wonderful singer

  • This is a beautiful rendition of Johanna. I should buy this CD.

  • It's Megan...this is off her first cd "Sweetheart Break in."

  • It's deff. Megan.

I love it. She reminds me of Madeline Kahn so much.

  • That was my best friend on my account. I'm pretty sure it's Megan. I didn't want to go against what she said, she's a Megan Mullally freak, so...but yeah. I'm sure it's Megan.

  • I adore the piano in this song..I could listen to this for hours.

  • Just to clarify to SOME of you -cough-vivaLwhiteboy-cough- this is DEFINITELY Megan Mullally singing this version. Don't believe it? Check out the Supreme Music Program's webpage.

  • This sounds nothing like bernadette peters.

  • it sounds kinda like Bernadette to me !

  • yeah it sort of does, but more the way she speaks

  • Have you ever heard Megan Mullally sing? It's definitely her.

  • omg i've looked everywhere for this. THANK YOU

  • That was one of the most amazing things I have ever heard

  • What an awful arrangement of a wonderful song. Take out all the excess stuff and she could do a really beautiful version of this song. What a shame.

  • wow

    this is beautiful

open up to something new, its not excess it adds to the intensity

  • I've heard lots of arrangements of this song aside from the traditional one. Some I've liked and some I haven't. I don't like this arrangement. I think Megan's voice is amazing, I've been a fan of her since How to Succeed. But I don't like this arrangement.

  • I hear the similarity to Bernadette too. She's really good.

  • OMG She sounds so much like Peters its almost scary! LOL

  • i noticed that too!

  • omg i love this...she is incrdible

  • I can hear bits of Bernadette in Megan's voice - especially where she places her voice with the crescendo's (using her nasal cavities). This can also be heard with her version of 'I remember', another Sondheim song BUT this is absolutely definitely Megan's rendition and NOT Bernadette...Both great though. Thank you for posting.

  • This is definitely Megan and what a incredible voice she has and a dark original take on Johanna. She should be on Broadway more often. I only have heard her in Young Frankstein and How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying.

  • THis is incredibly original!

  • i really liked that

  • I love this song! If anyone has 'The Sweetheart Break-In' and is feeling generous, can they copy it and send me the cd (I'l pay of course!) It's a bitch u can't get hold of it anymore :(

  • LOVE her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • She has such an awesome voice, I wish I could see her in YF but I won't get a chance before she leaves! :( BTW Phantomphan07 this is most definitely NOT Bernadette Peters!

  • thats sounds awesome, though, one problem. thats bernadette peters. Its on her concert cd.

  • No that is not Bernadette Peters!

  • haha great argument. prove it.

  • I got it too...It's DEFINITELY Megan Mullally!!

  • This is totally NOT Bernadette Peters! Search her version & compare the two! They have two completely different timbre's and vibrato's! But if you insist on believing it's her thats fine, too!

  • This is just beautiful. Where did you find it? I want it for my iPod!

  • Great voice! Not too sure with the piano in the background doing crazy things, but it's definitely a unique version and I like it!

  • she sounds amazing

  • hevenly voice!!!

  • this is such a dark rendition i love the OBC of sweeney and the rvival with cerveris and lupone but the movie cut out many of

    my favorite parts

  • Had no idea she could sing. She is amazing

  • She's on Broadway now as "Elizabeth" in Young Frankenstein playing at the Hilton Theater. :-)

  • I loverz Young Frankenstein! WoW... She's good! God, she's excellent!

  • I love magan.

She is such a good actress and her voice is perfection!

    thanks for the upload!

  • Is this really Megan Mullally that I'm hearing? From W&g ?!

OMG What a voice! So beautiful !!!

  • lol i was as surprized as you believe me!! but yes it is her. one of the most amazing and potential voices that ive ever heard =)

  • I have a question, im kinda confused because i heard this song in the new movie Sweeney Todd (starring Johnny Depp) and i was wondering was this song originally sung by Megan Mullally or not?

    Thanks.

  • no the song was in the musical before. she just covered it for one of her broadway albums...

  • oh so it was niether sung by megan or johnny originally right?

  • umm. this song was sung by a BOY originally.

  • yeah, but lots of singers cover it.

  • no i know, someone asked if it was originally sung by her

  • That was such a lovely rendition.

  • I have her albums.

  • on which one is this song?

  • its on sweetheart break in

  • Where did you find this?

  • Damn it all, you beat me to it ;p
