I hate to sound like I would encourage a death, but if there is a police officer, sworn to protect, and they have a Kevlar vest and a sidearm of their own, and inside, a student, unarmed, and unprotected, who should be facing down the gunman? If I was a cop, I'd rather exchange fire with the shooter and give my life, rather than sit back to find 30 people dead...

I dont know why everyone is having a go at the police here, they got to Cho just nine minutes after he started shooting. And it would have been less if they didnt have to deal with the doors he had chained shut. I think thats a pretty damn good effort.

I'm not saying that they shouldn't, but I do agree they should go inside the schools and rescue these students. But, unfortunatly they need to clarify unknown material.

Everybody knows that police should raid the school and tackle the guman. But, in most cases it doesn't happen because police and S.W.A.T. Team members need to clarify written proceidures. They need to have a solution to maybe "What gun they have", "Where they are located", and maybe, "Who are the gunman". These may be examples of proceidures. But, first, they need to surround the perimeter of the school so the gunman doesn't escape. It's part of proceidure.

i was in school i was playin with a walky talky an i came onto the police radio an i heard "VT SHOOTING (SCREAMS) OMG BACK UP (SCREAMS)" it was like omg wtf was that then when i got home i saw it on the news o.o

Look at the fat stupid police who sat back hiding while people are dying inside. There was a day when cops were not pussies. they let those people die to save their doughnut eating asses. Aug. 1, 1966 Charles Whitman went on a shooting spree. And, we had real men who went and kicked his ass. Now all we have is brain washed policy enforcement officers. They are a disgrace to their uniform and manhood.
