@LouisShields Ali was as much an entertainer as he was a boxer and half of it was cockiness, the other half for fun. He admitted later on he was very much afraid of Liston and thought by acting crazy he would shake him up and that he did, but mostly with miraculous boxing skill. A fine mixture of great skills and he knew hos to use them all. My favorites are Dempsey, LaMotta, Ali and Marciano but Ali was by far the most entertaining outside the ring.

@TaranProductions with all due respect, ali wasn't Muhammad "Money" Ali. he was an oxymoron. boastful in the ring, selfless outside of it. he was a social icon. arrested and stripped of his title because of political/religious beliefs. the only 2 things they have in common is boxing talent & supreme confidence. but that's where it stops.

Its part of his strategy to be cocky. This is why he is a legend.
Your supposed to hate him, and he can use that. Boxing isnt only a physical game, Ali definitely proved that it is mental as well as physical.
Others that deceived opponents and became the greatest are apparent throughout history, like Miyamoto Musashi, the greatest Samurai to ever live, used to show up late to his fights to psych out his opponents, and he never lost a duel.

He is not the greatest for me, he is just one arrogant person. Any great boxer can be arrogant, but , they choose not to. I don't know about people, some people idolized arrogant person. Joe Frazier is not an ugly person. He's a very good boxer like him.

CLASSIC!
Two minor points:
1) I thought Cooper's comeback at 1:08 was pretty good, though: "That's Muhammad Ali's gimmick . . . apart from his new name." (!)
2) It's kind of poignant to listen to what Ali says at 6:00. If only he had heeded his own words here, he might be in much better shape today.

@DarKstarnosa151 i think he means about the manny vs floyd may weather match, when he refused to fight manny and wanted him to take a drug test. alot of people have been saying he is a coawrd and such for doing that.

The man was a total one off... However few people seem to acknowledge how Joe Frazier was the equal of him if it weren't for Eddie Fudge retiring Frazier at the start of the 15th round in Manilla...Ali would of quit on his stool and Frazier would of won the epic trilogy having boxed his whole career with partial blindness in his right eye!
Ali was an absolute warrior in the ring and it's hard to think where he found the heart and motivation to push himselft to be the best...TRUE LEGEND! ! !

@JDEVENPORT10 Big fan of Frazier but in my opinion the blindness in his eye happened as a result of the first fight with Ali not some story Joe made up about being thumbed in the eye by a sparring partner. And if Futch had let Joe come out for that 15th round then Ali would have probably killed him As that inept referee Padilla never looked like stopping the fight which he should have did in the 13th or 14th rounds. Joe has to conquer his rage towards Ali and stop being a crusader.
