i have wished the rebels well since day 1 and as much as i think gaddafi was a murdering piece of shit, these videos are a little unsettling. kind of feels like they're revelling in all the gore, don't get the feeling anyone finds anything distasteful. and i think it does put the OBL photo drama into context. it is, at the end of the day, just death and its pretty grim. does the world need to see ALL of this? I find the parallels with Mussolini's demise striking. Both dictators of Libya met their ends with the retribution of their own people after having first been deposed, although Mussolini ended up being the puppet ruler of a rump state after. To all the people curious what happened: I believe that he was captured by the freedom fighters, and transported elsewhere. During this transport the convoy carrying Qadhafi/Khadaffi/Gaddafi (whatever his name is) was apparently shot by his loyalist. So my guess is he was killed by friendly fire. Just a guess though...

I'd say the new regime or Government is doomed. No matter how bad a leader is, he needs followers who carry out his/her orders and those followers are the necrophiliacs who "murdered" this arsehole. i have wished the rebels well since day 1 and as much as i think gaddafi was a murdering piece of shit, these videos are a little unsettling. kind of feels like they're revelling in all the gore, don't get the feeling anyone finds anything distasteful. and i think it does put the OBL photo drama into context. it is, at the end of the day, just death and its pretty grim. does the world need to see ALL of this? Smart move by NATO and the west, help killing a fleeing ex-ruler, now all the unaccounted Libyan money in Swiss and other banks can be usurped in addition to new no-tender contracts - hopefully the new leadership is a patriotic as the Iranians were (no kudos to what they have done to Iran though). And no wonder, Cameron and Sarkozy were in Libya like salivating vultures, to ensure their nations' share in the spoils. Sure would be fun if Asia (China and India) get into this shameful game.

@dgreenwalt Conspiracy theories without logic (as in Pakistan) are one extreme. The ones based on the record of the west in the past 4-5 decades are not in the realm of fantasy (maybe if you take some time and read from the likes of Peter Dale Scott, Harold Pinter, Noam Chomsky on US policy). If I am proved wrong - French and British Oil conglomerates do not land huge multimillion dollar contracts in the next five years in Libya in not-so-transparent dealings - I will gladly eat my words.

I find the parallels with Mussolini's demise striking. Both dictators of Libya met their ends with the retribution of their own people after having first been deposed, although Mussolini ended up being the puppet ruler of a rump state after. If Gaddafi's body hasn't been beaten into a pulp, urinated on and hanged upside-down, hopefully it will serve the same warning to Assad as Mussolini's did to Hitler, and with the same speed.

To all the people curious what happened: I believe that he was captured by the freedom fighters, and transported elsewhere. During this transport the convoy carrying Qadhafi/Khadaffi/Gaddafi (whatever his name is) was apparently shot by his loyalist. So my guess is he was killed by friendly fire. Just a guess though...

I'd say the new regime or Government is doomed. No matter how bad a leader is, he needs followers who carry out his/her orders and those followers are the necrophiliacs who "murdered" this arsehole. They captured him alive and then adminstered summary justice, bodes well for the principles of justice (NOT), and in turn the future of the country as the corporate interests get in there and start making sweet deals to the new elite (which I'll bet are comprised of a fair few of the old elite).
