Thank you ecapee57 and Aqene1000 for your messages of support for my work in progress vid of that era. I made this some time ago. Stranded was a magical, exciting and decadent nightclub. It's such a pity that it has gone, but it lives on in our collective memory and the Facebook group which inspired this photographic collage to music is testament to that great collective memory we have for a place and an era. It was our youth. Lost in time and lost in space but not in meaning.
thanx @futurelegendfilms - what a wonderful snapshot of a truly special time. i don't recognise many faces, but do some of your masks & the names you list were certainly on mine too. i too couldn't believe it when I heard Stranded's glorious architecture was to sacrificed for some chainstore. If only we'd had time/wits to have it saved as 'significant national heritage'. But I guess its ephemeral nature makes it all the more special. :)
The most gorgeous freaks at Stranded were upstaged only by the stratospherically stunning performers like Theresa Green. I daresay Stranded was even more INTERESTING than Studio 54 . . .
Thanks Ariana63 I kinda made it for you after finding your FB group. I LOVED Stranded and could not believe that they destroyed it. Such great memories of the most sexy club in 1970s and 80s Sydney.
This is fabulous! I started the Stranded facebook group 2 years ago, and it warms the cockles of my heart to see how much pleasure it has brought to people
