You provided a real service for anyone thinking playing the Theremin is simple and easy. I try to correct people maski9ng such claims by explaining that playing the Theremin - like playing ANY instrument - requires precise finger & hand movement. Some people may learn faster than others, but it still requires hours of practice.
Ha that comment was actually funnier than the video itself. No offense to the person playing it, I've heard it's an extremely hard instrument, it seems even harder than unfretted stringed instruments.
You´ve kinda got a song going on there! But the Theremin is the most awesome instrument I've ever seen. Maybe I'll try to build one myself one of these days :)
Theremins are not something you just fuck around with, Be serious. It is a beautiful instrument, You are lucky to own one, so don't treat it like a toy!
a 'Theremin' is played by interacting with radio waves the instrument gives off.
It typically has two oscillators that give off radio frequency. One hand controls the pitch, the other hand controls volume. Pitch and volume are manipulated depending on the distance between the player's hands and the machine.
Lots and lots. The good ones are anywhere from $200 to $400. Mine is a $400 one, but I got it for $300 on Ebay. There are cheap one's for less, but any serious Theremist should expect to spend a lot. (This doesn't include an amp, mike stand, or audio cable)
The trick is to move your fingers rather than your whole hand.
My advice would be to watch a giant load of theremin performance videos on YouTube and imitate what they do until you make your own style. That's what I'm doing.
For a beginner you have good technique, and that is more important, right now, then getting the pitch right. Pitch will come with practice. Keep at it.
The reason you had trouble trying to play London Bridge tune was that the pitch field was expanded too far out. Use the settings I mentioned, and try again.
Just turn the pitch knob clockwise until you get no sound where you stand, and set the volume knob all the way clockwise, and you're good to go. Keep at it.

Theremins have a slow, gradual learning curve. Persistence and an open mind are important. You should not be discouraged.

To anyone who was asking, it's a Moog Etherwave Theremin kit, and it cost around $300. A little more.
P.S. How the heck did this get up to 7,000 views? I should pay more attention.
