2 years ago this annoying family moved next door who tried to kick-start a project for the whole street to lower our ‘carbon footprint’. We were forever getting leaflets encouraging us to take action and/or go to meetings.
Through a contact in an abattoir I was able to get hold of 4 pigs’ heads & left them overnight on their front step for them to find in the morning. Funny, that put a prompt stop to their activism- we never heard a peep out of them again & they moved 6 months later!
In just FIVE YEARS between 2004-2009 the thickness of arctic ice has DROPPED 42%.
This was discovered by NASA satellite measurements. Reported 7/7/09

Global Warming is changing our world NOW. CO2 is 35% above levels for 650,000 years. In just 30 years CO2 will be over 450ppm, enough to acidify oceans to the point of stopping the growth of many planktons and corals. They are at the base of the oceans' food chain.
Sorry, 11hour is a great film, really, but Biodiesel is not a solution. The production is not green, it compete (for the biofuel in particular) with production of food and for a part is responsible of increase of the price of cereals. Me must take care, the first generation of "biodiesel" are a serious mistake !
Biodiesel is not an option. It's making gas using gas. Anyone else see the problem here?
Biofuels are a joke and anyone with a background in chemistry, physics, or engineering knows this. Biofuels require about as much energy to make as they yeild, sometimes much more. You're not helping, you're wasting resources by adding one more step to the process of getting people gas.
I read an article, at 1 pt., about Julia Roberts working to have LA school buses use bio-diesel. I'm sure you could find some info on her efforts that could inspire your school system. It's a GREAT idea. :)
Would it be possible for school buses to use bio-diesal? I am making a presentaion to my school board to make our school system more "green". Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
Yes they can be. I think you need to convert it so it can but I'm not sure. I've seen a video about a school in the south doing it. I'll try to find it.
it will cost many of remained forest to be produced and we will have an epic war between people and cars for consuming vegetables. Our problem aren't global warming and others environmental issues. Our problem is human OVERPOPULATION and BIRTH CONTROL by education is the only solution. (sorry for the poor english)
If you chop down a rainforrest, and grow soybeans on it, and then turn that into biofuel. Is that really beneficial?
Now lets add one more layer of complexity. What if you take US soy food crops out of production, and that world food demand is then met by growing soybeans in the rainforrest. Same result.
Where did you get that electricity? Coal. Strip mines (decapitating whole mountains), deep mines that trap miners and cost millions. Where SHOULD we get the electricity? Keep the coal plants. Power them with charcoal. Charcoal from industrial hemp.

yeah peolple are ignorant about global warming... especially the campaigneres as global warming has nothing to do with co2.
Even if it was co2
renewable hemp oil is 90% cleaner that diesil.
1 acre of hemp=4 acers of trees(for paper and packaging.
The more you grow the more co2 you extract from the enviorment
The reason it would work is cause HEMP IS THE FASSTEST GROWING PLANT IN THE WORLD.
so please dont listen to the hype/drama/deciet.
if not enjoy your pointless carbon tax.

My advice is don't. Emerging research suggests that bio-diesel and other bio-fuels are actually worse for the environment.
Gammaclipper 3 years ago
Or actually, the scary thing is that virtually all biofuels are inheriently dramatically damaging to our climate due to their direct emissions.

Then you have to factor in that nitrogen fixing plants like jatropha/soybean put up nitrogen oxides. 296x more potent than CO2.

greyfalcon. net/ lcarough7.png
Federal studies do not include nitrogen oxides or land use simply because they make biofuels look bad.
And the Fed liks supporting biofuels, since they are liquid hydrocarbon fuels. Merely a different flavor of petroleum.

Both of those are the reality of biodiesel.

our #1 alternative fuel is Electricity. We do have the technology for a very normal electric car, and charging stations in every shopping mall.
However, Bio-diesel for very long trips may be a fine idea, and we have normal diesel cars on the road to use it now.

There are many many ways to make electricity.
Even the more polluting power plants are better than cars.
But, it is a great idea to find even more efficient electrical energy sources.
