Is it just me or are there more people who don't really get the "WOW!"-feeling when seeing this? It's been TWELVE years since Diablo 2 and this is all they come up with?
It looks like it could use a lot more anti-aliasing and a lot better lighting. This is like walking through a haunted house with the lights on or watching a thriller movie with the sound muted. D1 and D2 had a lot more atmosphere than this...

@seraphimlance actually it was 1 to 5 in 17 minutes. Diablo 2 wasn't that much different at least for the first 10 levels. And if you ever tried playing it solo without any help by yourself it was definitely very challenging. There is going to be more than just 3 difficulties too so don't worry I am sure you will be very challenged mentally.

I've been seeing a lot of comments of people saying it looks nothing like the old Diablos but, from someone who played hard core starting with the very first Diablo, I have to say, this game brings back lots of old feelings and memories. The way your character runs, the music, the voice overs, the creepy ghoul sounds and the familiar "Tristram" come up are all the reasons that would get me to play Diablo 3.
@MatticusUltramus Same here, although I'm not sure I like how straightforward the maps appear to be. Roaming a large dungeon to find the stairs down/up was so much fun.

@BFinFlavin There was a two player version and a bigger four player stand up version that came out in 88 or 89. Every friday, down to the arcade. I remeber thinking it would be cool if they could link the stand ups together somehow and make the graphics 3D so that you could play a first person shooter against other human players. Then Wolfenstein came out and Doom shortly after... but this game... right back to gauntlet... this is what we had to imagine when we played that old game.

Why is everyone worked up over difficulty? LOL has anyone here even played diablo 2... you can pretty much one shot anything up until you reach the monastery. You only really started dying in act 3 to those fetish shamans :P
I feel stupid for even feeling the need to defend this game...BUT, I think nightmare/hell/inferno difficulties will be surprisingly difficult, I even think later Acts in normal difficulty may be a bit challenging. The game will have great replayiblity not only in the never-ending pursuit of better loot, but the randomly scripted events, monsters, and map layouts of each dungeon.
Deckard Cain is going to be the final boss. You're going to adventure through the Acts, defeat Azmodan, acquire the black soulstone, and Deckard Cain with his 120-year-old forgetfulness will mistakenly do something stupid with the soulstone and become the living embodiment of Diablo, becoming the final boss!
His most powerful attack will be "Stay a while and Listen" in which he stops time forever and drones on, killing your hero with boredom.

@rareu4532 they made normal mode extremely easy so you could get the feel for the game.. just like most of the other blizzard games, for example diablo 2.. how easy was that.. and world of warcraft, which is extremely easy in the beginning. but then again pvm is never a challenge. if pvp isn't amazing in this game i don't see myself playing it for very long
@rareu4532 Again, your wrongness is remarkable. This isn't even the whole of Act 1. Just a part of Act one, the easiest part on the easiest level of difficulty. And it's a closed beta even. And I am gonna bet that you will indeed love this game, and play a lot of it. Plus, the random content generator will make replay better as you won't even see the same spawn points. Relax, go replay normal mode at level 1 in D2 and compare it again.
@wj0t LOL then you're going to be letdown. PvP is nothing more than a side-show in the Diablo series, there for the player's sake. The items, skills, everything is not balanced for PvP. This is a PvM game first and foremost with very little regard given to PvP, just like Diablo 2. PvP will still be entertaining, but if it's your main concern with this game might as well look for another game to buy.

@Drakebro101 well bcs of the combinatorics first and hardcore grinding that will be by every difficulty more and more awsome and difficult . . . u can so many things do there . . . crafting, runes, jewels, finding plans for crafting, upgrading artisans and most awsome MAGIC FIND ... this system works like in old series u need to search and search to find what u whant or trade . . . its random drop . . . and about skills and hero build - u have more than milion combinations !!!
Dude, what "hero build"? Apparently u think in terms of D2. In D3 there is auto level, which means u don't decide where stats go. Also there are no skill trees, and u get skill automaticaly when u level. This means that there is NO HERO BUILDS IN D3, except items. XD
The customization part comes in that you can only have a small set (starting with 2, and up to 6 eventually) active at one time, in addition to 3 passive skills. Runes slotted to each ability further customizes the character. It seems like a flexible system that won't penalize players for poor skill choices. Check out Blizzard's character creator to get a feel for the system
This game is awesome! There's so many new additions, I especially love the stereotypical, cliche, bland, generic, Birtish accents everyone seems to have gained since Diablo II! And those cartoony zombies speeding around going BLUUUURRRGGGHHH WWWUURRGH HIISSS WWAAAAARRGH really captures the Diablo feeling!
Did u notice that there is almost no gore in dungeons? I remember Andariel from D2. That reversed satanic cross of her lair. All those implaled and mutilated bodies. Here, dungeons remind me... Torchligh. XD Nice, colorful and clean, great for 10yo kids who play WoW. XD
First, I played D1 in 199X. Lets see... 1. Maps seem linear. There is ZERO exploration. 2. Maps seem to be not randomly generated. 3. Monsters hit hard on Normal Act 1. I remember I never died there in D2. 4. If act 1 lasts 1 hour, then whole game is like... 5 hours? XD I remember beating D2 Normal in a week or so. XD I will not buy this game...
@MeTubeOrNotTube Seriously, if you have no idea about the beta, you shouldnt talk about it. The beta contains only a PART of act 1, not the whole act 1. Besides that, Blizzard stated that some acts will be longer and some shorter, depending on play style.

@medith007 you obviously haven't tried the beta emulator yet. heh it's not bad. you start at level 60, all spells available, and they're currently working on making the spells work. the Wizard has the most working skills atm. Electrocute works perfectly.
is it just my PC or is the screen a little choppy when the character runs around? I have a 1 GB dedicated graphics card so maybe the laggyness is due to the youtube upload (or the recording itself)? hopefully it doesn't lag like this when I get to play ^_^
I can only watch Minute,..... because I know this Game is going to be great and Watching the First Run through will just ruin it When I get the game!

@rareu4532 they made normal mode extremely easy so you could get the feel for the game.. just like most of the other blizzard games, for example diablo 2.. how easy was that.. and world of warcraft, which is extremely easy in the beginning. but then again pvm is never a challenge. if pvp isn't amazing in this game i don't see myself playing it for very long

@rareu4532 Again, your wrongness is remarkable. This isn't even the whole of Act 1. Just a part of Act one, the easiest part on the easiest level of difficulty. And it's a closed beta even. And I am gonna bet that you will indeed love this game, and play a lot of it. Plus, the random content generator will make replay better as you won't even see the same spawn points. Relax, go replay normal mode at level 1 in D2 and compare it again.

@wj0t LOL then you're going to be letdown. PvP is nothing more than a side-show in the Diablo series, there for the player's sake. The items, skills, everything is not balanced for PvP. This is a PvM game first and foremost with very little regard given to PvP, just like Diablo 2. PvP will still be entertaining, but if it's your main concern with this game might as well look for another game to buy.

Eh.... I've never played a diablo game before and I don't really see where the hype comes from. I love RPG games but this looks slot like grinding to me. If i'm mistaken, can someone please explain why the game'll be good?

@Drakebro101 well bcs of the combinatorics first and hardcore grinding that will be by every difficulty more and more awsome and difficult . . . u can so many things do there . . . crafting, runes, jewels, finding plans for crafting, upgrading artisans and most awsome MAGIC FIND ... this system works like in old series u need to search and search to find what u whant or trade . . . its random drop . . . and about skills and hero build - u have more than milion combinations !!!

Dude, what "hero build"? Apparently u think in terms of D2. In D3 there is auto level, which means u don't decide where stats go. Also there are no skill trees, and u get skill automaticaly when u level. This means that there is NO HERO BUILDS IN D3, except items. XD

The customization part comes in that you can only have a small set (starting with 2, and up to 6 eventually) active at one time, in addition to 3 passive skills. Runes slotted to each ability further customizes the character. It seems like a flexible system that won't penalize players for poor skill choices. Check out Blizzard's character creator to get a feel for the system

This game is awesome! There's so many new additions, I especially love the stereotypical, cliche, bland, generic, Birtish accents everyone seems to have gained since Diablo II! And those cartoony zombies speeding around going BLUUUURRRGGGHHH WWWUURRGH HIISSS WWAAAAARRGH really captures the Diablo feeling!

Did u notice that there is almost no gore in dungeons? I remember Andariel from D2. That reversed satanic cross of her lair. All those implaled and mutilated bodies. Here, dungeons remind me... Torchligh. XD Nice, colorful and clean, great for 10yo kids who play WoW. XD

First, I played D1 in 199X. Lets see... 1. Maps seem linear. There is ZERO exploration. 2. Maps seem to be not randomly generated. 3. Monsters hit hard on Normal Act 1. I remember I never died there in D2. 4. If act 1 lasts 1 hour, then whole game is like... 5 hours? XD I remember beating D2 Normal in a week or so. XD I will not buy this game...

@MeTubeOrNotTube Seriously, if you have no idea about the beta, you shouldnt talk about it. The beta contains only a PART of act 1, not the whole act 1. Besides that, Blizzard stated that some acts will be longer and some shorter, depending on play style.

@medith007 you obviously haven't tried the beta emulator yet. heh it's not bad. you start at level 60, all spells available, and they're currently working on making the spells work. the Wizard has the most working skills atm. Electrocute works perfectly.

is it just my PC or is the screen a little choppy when the character runs around? I have a 1 GB dedicated graphics card so maybe the laggyness is due to the youtube upload (or the recording itself)? hopefully it doesn't lag like this when I get to play ^_^
