There is a lesson for all Xizang ethnic minorities (formerly called Tibetans) that 99.999% of the world's population believed that Xizang province (Tibet in English) is a part of China. The 2008 Beijing Olympics Games had been very, very successful and the Best in History. It made many billions of people in this world Happy. On the other hand, all those people who tried to disrupt the Beijing Olympics, had been Unsuccessful and many are feeling ashamed about their cowardly actions now.
I'm so disappointed with the BBC. It really showed itself this time. There are as many pro-china demonstrators as anti-china ones if not more. But the BBC only chooses to show the trouble makers. Talk about bias!!!!!
jliu34740 you obviously have no idea about china they wouldnt even show it on tv they would only show the good side of the torch run thats whats is wrong with the chinese people they only see one side
Protest is fine but any violence is just disgrace to those protesters.
Paris and London are the 4th and 5th stops for Olympic torch. The previous 3 stops were mostly fine. e.g., Olympic torch relay in Russia 3 days ago was all peace, harmony and unity. The violent protests in Paris and London just show the un-civilization of some people in some part of western Europe.
To all of you guys who think China is a villain, you should look at your own country. Your media is controlled by the government to make false reports so the public never gets to know the truth. The protesters in Tibet burned more than 900 buildings and killed tens of people, yet Western governments are still supporting him and his organization. So when you think China is bad, maybe you should take a look at the truth and think again.
Governments are such hypocrites. They complain about people in zimbabwe not having there freedom but turn a blind eye to tibet because china is a trading partner and worth alot of money. Its disgusting.
It seems as if the Olympics are indeed bringing the whole world together...in condemnation of the Chinese regime's Repression of Tibet, total disregard for human rights and the hijacking of the olympics for politcal propaganda purposes.
Well one little incident over "eighty-five thouand miles" (yeah, that's what the reporter said) is just a piss in the lake, isn't it? Not to excuse China for its f'ed up human rights record, but where were all these protesters in 2001 when the IOC awarded the 2008 games??? They could have had a real impact then! Now they're just molesting some innocent folks who want to run with the torch.

How could you know that? Wake up man! CCTV and its website already shown it with pictures, and almost all Chinese news websites did. Would you please open your eyes and see what's really going on in China now, not just believe anything you got form your media?
OK, probably you don't even wanna try to understand what China and Chinese ppl think. Only three words rule in your mind - China is evil. What a shame!
The video doesn't show anything on the vast demonstration from the Pro-China and Pro-Olympics side because there is on saleing point or eye catching showing for the TV.
The british are not qualified to lecture others about human rights. Just look inside british museum, there is proof positive that they riped off from everybody in the world. How about returning those to their rightful owners, you hypicrite!
So no one should stand up for human rights for fear of being called a hypocrite? Of course not! Let's stand up for human rights whenever and wherever there is injustice...like in Tibet.
No what I am saying is that there is a proper way for addressing things like this. Olympic torch relay is not the right place for this. It's obvious to me that these protesters are simply taking advantage of the media opportunity. How would this look to innocent Chinese children back home watching this on TV and wondering why someone is trying to ripe the torch away from an anthele. For me, these protests just added to my support for the china and chinese people.
More importantly how does this look to innocent Tibetan children back home? It looks like the world cares about them and their country. Furthermore many of these protesters are protesting for human rights in China also...in support of the Chinese people. If you want to support the military dictatorship in China do what you wish. But maybe you might read a little history about that government before you fully make up your mind.
What would a chinese child think??? Perhaps some chinese child will ask "why does the world protest?" And perhaps someone will reply "because the world does not approve of our actions". Perhaps this child grows to understand they do not have to accept what is being pushed upon them, but can see things in a bigger context. This discourse is not allowed to occur in the chinese media now.
Thank U all those who support Tibet cause. It is true that the world must support the truth and truth is with Tibetans not the Chinese. I have never seen so many people hate the PRC than any body else. True picture of CHINA. SHAME SHAME.
A symbolic gesture of peace and cooperation, while real people are killed and oppressed. I hope one of those torch bearers dumps it into a river in protest.
i watched it unfolding live on tv. it was a bizare sight - like soldiers running through a firefight with their heads ducked down or camera crews in bosnia. this was supposed to be a celebration but was rightly dogged by demonstration.
china must have been aware what is going to happen all the way through europe and the free world on this torch's macabre journey.
it all shows what a bloated self important pile of crap the olympics can be.
They're meant to be professionals and have many hours of training in restraint techniques and use of proportionate force. I'm fully in support of Police who have a difficult job and carry out their duties with calmness and proportionate force. You can't really argue that decking someone and kicking them comes under that banner.
This video clearly does not show police doing anything but an outstanding job. I don't know of the incident being talked about here. My sympathy is usually with the police who I see as having a very difficult job. Clearly if they do wrong, they are not above criticism. However the real villains here are China and the Olympic committee. Let's stay on the topic.
who gives a fuck what happens in Tibet, lets sort out the Uk first and stop trying to be "all nice"

The People's Republic of China knew they would come under scrutiny when they asked to host the Olympics.
This is part of the scrutiny.
People should take it easy, though. If one person were hurt, that would be one too many. The protest is symbolic.
