The protesters in Tibet burned more than 900 buildings and killed tens of people, yet Western governments are still supporting him and his organization. No what I am saying is that there is a proper way for addressing things like this. Olympic torch relay is not the right place for this. It's obvious to me that these protesters are simply taking advantage of the media opportunity. How would this look to innocent Chinese children back home watching this on TV and wondering why someone is trying to ripe the torch away from an anthele. For me, these protests just added to my support for the china and chinese people.

More importantly how does this look to innocent Tibetan children back home? It looks like the world cares about them and their country. Furthermore many of these protesters are protesting for human rights in China also...in support of the Chinese people. If you want to support the military dictatorship in China do what you wish. But maybe you might read a little history about that government before you fully make up your mind.

What would a chinese child think??? Perhaps some chinese child will ask "why does the world protest?" And perhaps someone will reply "because the world does not approve of our actions". Perhaps this child grows to understand they do not have to accept what is being pushed upon them, but can see things in a bigger context. i watched it unfolding live on tv. it was a bizare sight - like soldiers running through a firefight with their heads ducked down or camera crews in bosnia. this was supposed to be a celebration but was rightly dogged by demonstration.

china must have been aware what is going to happen all the way through europe and the free world on this torch's macabre journey.

it all shows what a bloated self important pile of crap the olympics can be.

They're meant to be professionals and have many hours of training in restraint techniques and use of proportionate force. I'm fully in support of Police who have a difficult job and carry out their duties with calmness and proportionate force. You can't really argue that decking someone and kicking them comes under that banner.

My sympathy is usually with the police who I see as having a very difficult job. Clearly if they do wrong, they are not above criticism. However the real villains here are China and the Olympic committee. Let's stay on the topic.
