I would argue that it's a cultural difference. Look at Europe in the Middle Ages and then again in the Renaissance. I argue constantly that the argument that the west was founded on Judeo-Christian morals is backwards; I think Christianity conformed to western advances in philosophy and ethics. Islam in contrast stayed in a backwards, barbaric part of the world for far too long.

I would argue that it's a cultural difference. Look at Europe in the Middle Ages and then again in the Renaissance. I argue constantly that the argument that the west was founded on Judeo-Christian morals is backwards; I think Christianity conformed to western advances in philosophy and ethics. Islam in contrast stayed in a backwards, barbaric part of the world for far too long.

@RichardMNixon Unfortunately, your argument fails precisely because the influence of Islam on the Muslims during the Golden Age of Islam lifted Europe out of its Dark Ages and into its Renaissance. How many students in the West learn about Muslim polymaths such as Ibn Sina (contributed to philosophy and medicine tremendously), Al-Haytham (pioneered the scientific method), Al-Biruni etc.? At least, MIT actually recognizes their contributions through its displays.

I think Bill has missed the point of having a show. It is about listening other's opinion and providing a platform for others to express themselves.. it is not for the host to express his own opinions forcefully, which is what Bill does. Larry King does this best.. his whole philosophy is to set his own interests aside, and listen to the opinion of the guest and allow him to express himself as fully as possible. This way, the host becomes a server. Bill needs to get his priorities right.
